Al-Qasas [28]: 20 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَجَاۤءَ رَجُلٌ مِّنْ اَقْصَى الْمَدِيْنَةِ يَسْعٰىۖ قَالَ يٰمُوْسٰٓى اِنَّ الْمَلَاَ يَأْتَمِرُوْنَ بِكَ لِيَقْتُلُوْكَ فَاخْرُجْ اِنِّيْ لَكَ مِنَ النّٰصِحِيْنَ (القصص : ٢٨)

(of) the city

يَسْعَىٰ

"O Musa!

إِنَّ
Indeed
l-mala-a
ٱلْمَلَأَ
the chiefs
yatamirūna
يَأْتَمِرُونَ
are taking counsel
bika
بِكَ
about you
liyaqtulūka
لِيَقْتُلُوكَ
to kill you
fa-ukh'ruj
فَٱخْرُجْ
so leave;
innī
إِنِّى
indeed I am
laka
لَكَ
to you
mina
مِنَ
of
l-nāṣiḥīna
ٱلنَّٰصِحِينَ
the sincere advisors"

Transliteration:

Wa jaaa'a rajulum min aqsal madeenati yas'aa qaala yaa Moosaaa innal mala a yaa tamiroona bika liyaqtulooka fakhruj innee laka minan naasiheen (QS. al-Q̈aṣaṣ:20)

English / Sahih Translation:

And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors." (QS. Al-Qasas, ayah 20)

And there came a man running from the farthest part of the city. He said, “The chiefs are counseling each other about you, so that they kill you. So, leave (the city). I am one of your well-wishers.”

And there came a man, rushing from the farthest end of the city. He said, “O Moses! The chiefs are actually conspiring against you to put you to death, so leave ˹the city˺. I really advise you ˹to do so˺.”

There came a man from the city outskirts, hurrying. He said, ‘Moses! The elite are indeed conspiring to kill you. So leave. I am indeed your well-wisher.’

Then a man (from the royal court) came running from the farthest end of the city (where the court was) and said: "Moses, now the chiefs are deliberating upon your case to kill you, so leave the city. I am surely one of your sincere well-wishers."

(Then it came to pass that) a man came running from the far end of the city (and) said, `Moses the chiefs are consulting together to kill you. Therefore leave (this place at once), I am, of course, your sincere well-wisher.´

English Literal

And a man came form the farthest of the city/town walking quickly/hastening he said: "You Moses, that the nobles/assembly , they conspire/plot with each other with (about) you, to kill you, so get out , that I am for you from the advisors/counselors."

And when he would have attacked him who was the enemy to them both, he said, "O Moses! Would (or desire) you to slay me as you did slay a person yesterday? You would be (or are or desire to be) only a tyrant in the earth; and you would not be (or are not or desires not to be) of the reformers."

And there came a man running, from the farthest end of the city. He said: "O Musa (Moses)! Verily, the chiefs are taking counsel together about you, to kill you, so escape. Truly, I am to you of those who give sincere advice."

And he was in the city, fearing, awaiting, when lo, he who had asked his assistance the day before was crying out to him for help. Moses said to him: Thou art surely one erring manifestly.

Then a man came running from the furthest part of the city, 'Moses' he said, 'the Assembly are plotting to kill you. Leave, for I am one of your sincere advisers'

And there came a man running, from the farthest end of the city. He said: "O Musa! Verily, the chiefs are taking counsel together about you, to kill you, so escape. Truly, I am one of the good advisers to you."

A man came running from the far side of the city, and said, "Moses, the authorities are conspiring to kill you, so leave the city. I am one of your well-wishers."

And a man came from the farthest part of the city running. He said, “O Moses, the authorities are considering killing you, so leave; I am giving you good advice.”

Tafsir jalalayn

And a man, who was the [only] believer among Pharaoh's kinsfolk, came from the outskirts of the city, hastening, walking fast, via a route quicker than theirs. He said, `O Moses, lo! the council, of Pharaoh's folk, are conspiring, discussing [the means], to slay you. So leave, the city. Truly I am speaking to you in good faith', in bidding you to leave.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

Allah tells;

وَجَاء رَجُلٌ مِّنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْعَى قَالَ يَا مُوسَى

And there came a man running, from the farthest end of the city. He said;"O Musa!

He is described as being a man because he had the courage to take a different route, a shorter route than those who were sent after Musa, so he reached Musa first and said to him;"O Musa,

إِنَّ الْمَلََ يَأْتَمِرُونَ بِكَ

Verily, the chiefs are taking counsel together about you.,"

meaning, `they are consulting with one another about you.'

لِيَقْتُلُوكَ فَاخْرُجْ

to kill you, so escape.

means, from this land.

إِنِّي لَكَ مِنَ النَّاصِحِينَ



Truly, I am one of the good advisers to you
