(The Stories)

81

فَخَسَفْنَا بِهٖ وَبِدَارِهِ الْاَرْضَ ۗفَمَا كَانَ لَهٗ مِنْ فِئَةٍ يَّنْصُرُوْنَهٗ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ ۖوَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُنْتَصِرِيْنَ ٨١

fakhasafnā
فَخَسَفْنَا
Then We caused to swallow up
bihi
بِهِۦ
him
wabidārihi
وَبِدَارِهِ
and his home
l-arḍa
ٱلْأَرْضَ
the earth
famā
فَمَا
Then not
kāna
كَانَ
was
lahu
لَهُۥ
for him
min
مِن
any
fi-atin
فِئَةٍ
group
yanṣurūnahu
يَنصُرُونَهُۥ
(to) help him
min
مِن
besides
dūni
دُونِ
besides
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
wamā
وَمَا
and not
kāna
كَانَ
was
mina
مِنَ
(he) of
l-muntaṣirīna
ٱلْمُنتَصِرِينَ
those who (could) defend themselves
And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home. And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor was he of those who [could] defend themselves. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 81)
Tafsir
82

وَاَصْبَحَ الَّذِيْنَ تَمَنَّوْا مَكَانَهٗ بِالْاَمْسِ يَقُوْلُوْنَ وَيْكَاَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖ وَيَقْدِرُۚ لَوْلَآ اَنْ مَّنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَا ۗوَيْكَاَنَّهٗ لَا يُفْلِحُ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ ࣖ ٨٢

wa-aṣbaḥa
وَأَصْبَحَ
And began
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
tamannaw
تَمَنَّوْا۟
(had) wished
makānahu
مَكَانَهُۥ
his position
bil-amsi
بِٱلْأَمْسِ
the day before
yaqūlūna
يَقُولُونَ
(to) say
wayka-anna
وَيْكَأَنَّ
"Ah! That
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
yabsuṭu
يَبْسُطُ
extends
l-riz'qa
ٱلرِّزْقَ
the provision
liman
لِمَن
for whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
min
مِنْ
of
ʿibādihi
عِبَادِهِۦ
His slaves
wayaqdiru
وَيَقْدِرُۖ
and restricts it
lawlā
لَوْلَآ
If not
an
أَن
that
manna
مَّنَّ
Allah had favored
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah had favored
ʿalaynā
عَلَيْنَا
[to] us
lakhasafa
لَخَسَفَ
He would have caused it to swallow us
binā
بِنَاۖ
He would have caused it to swallow us
wayka-annahu
وَيْكَأَنَّهُۥ
Ah! That
لَا
not
yuf'liḥu
يُفْلِحُ
will succeed
l-kāfirūna
ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
the disbelievers"
And those who had wished for his position the previous day began to say, "Oh, how Allah extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and restricts it! If not that Allah had conferred favor on us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Oh, how the disbelievers do not succeed!" (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 82)
Tafsir
83

تِلْكَ الدَّارُ الْاٰخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِيْنَ لَا يُرِيْدُوْنَ عُلُوًّا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَادًا ۗوَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِيْنَ ٨٣

تِلْكَ
That
l-dāru
ٱلدَّارُ
the Home
l-ākhiratu
ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ
(of) the Hereafter
najʿaluhā
نَجْعَلُهَا
We assign it
lilladhīna
لِلَّذِينَ
to those who
لَا
(do) not
yurīdūna
يُرِيدُونَ
desire
ʿuluwwan
عُلُوًّا
exaltedness
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
walā
وَلَا
and not
fasādan
فَسَادًاۚ
corruption
wal-ʿāqibatu
وَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُ
And the good end
lil'muttaqīna
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
(is) for the righteous
That home of the Hereafter We assign to those who do not desire exaltedness upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 83)
Tafsir
84

مَنْ جَاۤءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهٗ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَاۚ وَمَنْ جَاۤءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَى الَّذِيْنَ عَمِلُوا السَّيِّاٰتِ اِلَّا مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ٨٤

man
مَن
Whoever
jāa
جَآءَ
comes
bil-ḥasanati
بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ
with a good (deed)
falahu
فَلَهُۥ
then for him
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(will be) better
min'hā
مِّنْهَاۖ
than it;
waman
وَمَن
and whoever
jāa
جَآءَ
comes
bil-sayi-ati
بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ
with an evil (deed)
falā
فَلَا
then not
yuj'zā
يُجْزَى
will be recompensed
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ʿamilū
عَمِلُوا۟
do
l-sayiāti
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
the evil (deeds)
illā
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used (to)
yaʿmalūna
يَعْمَلُونَ
do
Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it; and whoever comes with an evil deed – then those who did evil deeds will not be recompensed except [as much as] what they used to do. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 84)
Tafsir
85

اِنَّ الَّذِيْ فَرَضَ عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْاٰنَ لَرَاۤدُّكَ اِلٰى مَعَادٍ ۗقُلْ رَّبِّيْٓ اَعْلَمُ مَنْ جَاۤءَ بِالْهُدٰى وَمَنْ هُوَ فِيْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ ٨٥

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
He Who
faraḍa
فَرَضَ
ordained
ʿalayka
عَلَيْكَ
upon you
l-qur'āna
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
the Quran
larādduka
لَرَآدُّكَ
(will) surely take you back
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
maʿādin
مَعَادٍۚ
a place of return
qul
قُل
Say
rabbī
رَّبِّىٓ
"My Lord
aʿlamu
أَعْلَمُ
(is) most knowing
man
مَن
(of him) who
jāa
جَآءَ
comes
bil-hudā
بِٱلْهُدَىٰ
with the guidance
waman
وَمَنْ
and who -
huwa
هُوَ
he
فِى
(is) in
ḍalālin
ضَلَٰلٍ
an error
mubīnin
مُّبِينٍ
manifest"
Indeed, [O Muhammad], He who imposed upon you the Quran will take you back to a place of return. Say, "My Lord is most knowing of who brings guidance and who is in clear error." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 85)
Tafsir
86

وَمَا كُنْتَ تَرْجُوْٓا اَنْ يُّلْقٰٓى اِلَيْكَ الْكِتٰبُ اِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنْ رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُوْنَنَّ ظَهِيْرًا لِّلْكٰفِرِيْنَ ۖ ٨٦

wamā
وَمَا
And not
kunta
كُنتَ
you were
tarjū
تَرْجُوٓا۟
expecting
an
أَن
that
yul'qā
يُلْقَىٰٓ
would be sent down
ilayka
إِلَيْكَ
to you
l-kitābu
ٱلْكِتَٰبُ
the Book
illā
إِلَّا
except
raḥmatan
رَحْمَةً
(as) a mercy
min
مِّن
from
rabbika
رَّبِّكَۖ
your Lord
falā
فَلَا
So (do) not
takūnanna
تَكُونَنَّ
be
ẓahīran
ظَهِيرًا
an assistant
lil'kāfirīna
لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ
to the disbelievers
And you were not expecting that the Book would be conveyed to you, but [it is] a mercy from your Lord. So do not be an assistant to the disbelievers. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 86)
Tafsir
87

وَلَا يَصُدُّنَّكَ عَنْ اٰيٰتِ اللّٰهِ بَعْدَ اِذْ اُنْزِلَتْ اِلَيْكَ وَادْعُ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُوْنَنَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِيْنَ ۚ ٨٧

walā
وَلَا
And (let) not
yaṣuddunnaka
يَصُدُّنَّكَ
avert you
ʿan
عَنْ
from
āyāti
ءَايَٰتِ
(the) Verses
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
baʿda
بَعْدَ
after
idh
إِذْ
[when]
unzilat
أُنزِلَتْ
they have been revealed
ilayka
إِلَيْكَۖ
to you
wa-ud'ʿu
وَٱدْعُ
And invite (people)
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
rabbika
رَبِّكَۖ
your Lord
walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
takūnanna
تَكُونَنَّ
be
mina
مِنَ
of
l-mush'rikīna
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
the polytheists
And never let them avert you from the verses of Allah after they have been revealed to you. And invite [people] to your Lord. And never be of those who associate others with Allah. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 87)
Tafsir
88

وَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهًا اٰخَرَۘ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۗ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ اِلَّا وَجْهَهٗ ۗ لَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَاِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ ࣖ ٨٨

walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
tadʿu
تَدْعُ
invoke
maʿa
مَعَ
with
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
ilāhan
إِلَٰهًا
god
ākhara
ءَاخَرَۘ
other
لَآ
(There is) no
ilāha
إِلَٰهَ
god
illā
إِلَّا
except
huwa
هُوَۚ
Him
kullu
كُلُّ
Every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
hālikun
هَالِكٌ
(will be) destroyed
illā
إِلَّا
except
wajhahu
وَجْهَهُۥۚ
His Face
lahu
لَهُ
To Him
l-ḥuk'mu
ٱلْحُكْمُ
(is) the Decision
wa-ilayhi
وَإِلَيْهِ
and to Him
tur'jaʿūna
تُرْجَعُونَ
you will be returned
And do not invoke with Allah another deity. There is no deity except Him. Everything will be destroyed except His Face. His is the judgement, and to Him you will be returned. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 88)
