(The Stories)

61

اَفَمَنْ وَّعَدْنٰهُ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا فَهُوَ لَاقِيْهِ كَمَنْ مَّتَّعْنٰهُ مَتَاعَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ هُوَ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِيْنَ ٦١

afaman
أَفَمَن
Then is (he) whom
waʿadnāhu
وَعَدْنَٰهُ
We have promised him
waʿdan
وَعْدًا
a promise
ḥasanan
حَسَنًا
good
fahuwa
فَهُوَ
and he
lāqīhi
لَٰقِيهِ
(will) meet it
kaman
كَمَن
like (the one) whom
mattaʿnāhu
مَّتَّعْنَٰهُ
We provided him
matāʿa
مَتَٰعَ
enjoyment
l-ḥayati
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
(of the) life
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
huwa
هُوَ
he
yawma
يَوْمَ
(on the) Day
l-qiyāmati
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
mina
مِنَ
(will be) among
l-muḥ'ḍarīna
ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
those presented?
Then is he whom We have promised a good promise which he will meet [i.e., obtain] like he for whom We provided enjoyment of worldly life [but] then he is, on the Day of Resurrection, among those presented [for punishment in Hell]? (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 61)
Tafsir
62

وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيْهِمْ فَيَقُوْلُ اَيْنَ شُرَكَاۤءِيَ الَّذِيْنَ كُنْتُمْ تَزْعُمُوْنَ ٦٢

wayawma
وَيَوْمَ
And (the) Day
yunādīhim
يُنَادِيهِمْ
He will call them
fayaqūlu
فَيَقُولُ
and say
ayna
أَيْنَ
"Where
shurakāiya
شُرَكَآءِىَ
(are) My partners
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
whom
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
tazʿumūna
تَزْعُمُونَ
claim?"
And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My 'partners' which you used to claim?" (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 62)
Tafsir
63

قَالَ الَّذِيْنَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ رَبَّنَا هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ الَّذِيْنَ اَغْوَيْنَاۚ اَغْوَيْنٰهُمْ كَمَا غَوَيْنَاۚ تَبَرَّأْنَآ اِلَيْكَ مَا كَانُوْٓا اِيَّانَا يَعْبُدُوْنَ ٦٣

قَالَ
(Will) say
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those
ḥaqqa
حَقَّ
(has) come true
ʿalayhimu
عَلَيْهِمُ
against whom
l-qawlu
ٱلْقَوْلُ
the Word
rabbanā
رَبَّنَا
"Our Lord!
hāulāi
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
These
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) those whom
aghwaynā
أَغْوَيْنَآ
we led astray
aghwaynāhum
أَغْوَيْنَٰهُمْ
We led them astray
kamā
كَمَا
as
ghawaynā
غَوَيْنَاۖ
we were astray
tabarranā
تَبَرَّأْنَآ
We declare our innocence
ilayka
إِلَيْكَۖ
before You
مَا
Not
kānū
كَانُوٓا۟
they used (to)
iyyānā
إِيَّانَا
worship us"
yaʿbudūna
يَعْبُدُونَ
worship us"
Those upon whom the word will have come into effect will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we led to error. We led them to error just as we were in error. We declare our disassociation [from them] to You. They did not used to worship [i.e., obey] us." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 63)
Tafsir
64

وَقِيْلَ ادْعُوْا شُرَكَاۤءَكُمْ فَدَعَوْهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِيْبُوْا لَهُمْ ۗوَرَاَوُا الْعَذَابَۚ لَوْ اَنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا يَهْتَدُوْنَ ٦٤

waqīla
وَقِيلَ
And it will be said
id'ʿū
ٱدْعُوا۟
"Call
shurakāakum
شُرَكَآءَكُمْ
your partners"
fadaʿawhum
فَدَعَوْهُمْ
And they will call them
falam
فَلَمْ
but not
yastajībū
يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟
they will respond
lahum
لَهُمْ
to them
wara-awū
وَرَأَوُا۟
and they will see
l-ʿadhāba
ٱلْعَذَابَۚ
the punishment
law
لَوْ
If only
annahum
أَنَّهُمْ
[that] they
kānū
كَانُوا۟
had been
yahtadūna
يَهْتَدُونَ
guided!
And it will be said, "Invoke your 'partners,'" and they will invoke them; but they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment. If only they had followed guidance! (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 64)
Tafsir
65

وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيْهِمْ فَيَقُوْلُ مَاذَآ اَجَبْتُمُ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ ٦٥

wayawma
وَيَوْمَ
And (the) Day
yunādīhim
يُنَادِيهِمْ
He will call them
fayaqūlu
فَيَقُولُ
and say
mādhā
مَاذَآ
"What
ajabtumu
أَجَبْتُمُ
did you answer
l-mur'salīna
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
the Messengers?"
And [mention] the Day He will call them and say, "What did you answer the messengers?" (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 65)
Tafsir
66

فَعَمِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْاَنْۢبَاۤءُ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ فَهُمْ لَا يَتَسَاۤءَلُوْنَ ٦٦

faʿamiyat
فَعَمِيَتْ
But (will) be obscure
ʿalayhimu
عَلَيْهِمُ
to them
l-anbāu
ٱلْأَنۢبَآءُ
the information
yawma-idhin
يَوْمَئِذٍ
that day
fahum
فَهُمْ
so they
لَا
will not ask one another
yatasāalūna
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
will not ask one another
But the information will be unapparent to them that Day, so they will not [be able to] ask one another. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 66)
Tafsir
67

فَاَمَّا مَنْ تَابَ وَاٰمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَعَسٰٓى اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُفْلِحِيْنَ ٦٧

fa-ammā
فَأَمَّا
But as for
man
مَن
(him) who
tāba
تَابَ
repented
waāmana
وَءَامَنَ
and believed
waʿamila
وَعَمِلَ
and did
ṣāliḥan
صَٰلِحًا
righteousness
faʿasā
فَعَسَىٰٓ
then perhaps
an
أَن
[that]
yakūna
يَكُونَ
he will be
mina
مِنَ
of
l-muf'liḥīna
ٱلْمُفْلِحِينَ
the successful ones
But as for one who had repented, believed, and done righteousness, it is expected [i.e., promised by Allah] that he will be among the successful. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 67)
Tafsir
68

وَرَبُّكَ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاۤءُ وَيَخْتَارُ ۗمَا كَانَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ ۗسُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ وَتَعٰلٰى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَ ٦٨

warabbuka
وَرَبُّكَ
And your Lord
yakhluqu
يَخْلُقُ
creates
مَا
what
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
wayakhtāru
وَيَخْتَارُۗ
and chooses
مَا
Not
kāna
كَانَ
they have
lahumu
لَهُمُ
for them
l-khiyaratu
ٱلْخِيَرَةُۚ
the choice
sub'ḥāna
سُبْحَٰنَ
Glory be
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(to) Allah
wataʿālā
وَتَعَٰلَىٰ
and High is He
ʿammā
عَمَّا
above what
yush'rikūna
يُشْرِكُونَ
they associate (with Him)
And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice. Exalted is Allah and high above what they associate with Him. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 68)
Tafsir
69

وَرَبُّكَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُوْرُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُوْنَ ٦٩

warabbuka
وَرَبُّكَ
And your Lord
yaʿlamu
يَعْلَمُ
knows
مَا
what
tukinnu
تُكِنُّ
conceals
ṣudūruhum
صُدُورُهُمْ
their breasts
wamā
وَمَا
and what
yuʿ'linūna
يُعْلِنُونَ
they declare
And your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 69)
Tafsir
70

وَهُوَ اللّٰهُ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ ۗ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِى الْاُوْلٰى وَالْاٰخِرَةِ ۖوَلَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَاِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ ٧٠

wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
(is) Allah;
لَآ
(there is) no
ilāha
إِلَٰهَ
god
illā
إِلَّا
but
huwa
هُوَۖ
He
lahu
لَهُ
To Him
l-ḥamdu
ٱلْحَمْدُ
(are due) all praises
فِى
in
l-ūlā
ٱلْأُولَىٰ
the first
wal-ākhirati
وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِۖ
and the last
walahu
وَلَهُ
And for Him
l-ḥuk'mu
ٱلْحُكْمُ
(is) the Decision
wa-ilayhi
وَإِلَيْهِ
and to Him
tur'jaʿūna
تُرْجَعُونَ
you will be returned
And He is Allah; there is no deity except Him. To Him is [due all] praise in the first [life] and the Hereafter. And His is the [final] decision, and to Him you will be returned. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 70)
