وَقَالَتْ لِاُخْتِهٖ قُصِّيْهِۗ فَبَصُرَتْ بِهٖ عَنْ جُنُبٍ وَّهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ ۙ ١١
- waqālat
- وَقَالَتْ
- And she said
- li-ukh'tihi
- لِأُخْتِهِۦ
- to his sister
- quṣṣīhi
- قُصِّيهِۖ
- "Follow him"
- fabaṣurat
- فَبَصُرَتْ
- So she watched
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- him
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- junubin
- جُنُبٍ
- a distance
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- lā
- لَا
- (did) not
- yashʿurūna
- يَشْعُرُونَ
- perceive
And she said to his sister, "Follow him"; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 11)Tafsir
۞ وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَرَاضِعَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَقَالَتْ هَلْ اَدُلُّكُمْ عَلٰٓى اَهْلِ بَيْتٍ يَّكْفُلُوْنَهٗ لَكُمْ وَهُمْ لَهٗ نَاصِحُوْنَ ١٢
- waḥarramnā
- وَحَرَّمْنَا
- And We had forbidden
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- for him
- l-marāḍiʿa
- ٱلْمَرَاضِعَ
- the wet nurses
- min
- مِن
- before
- qablu
- قَبْلُ
- before
- faqālat
- فَقَالَتْ
- so she said
- hal
- هَلْ
- "Shall I
- adullukum
- أَدُلُّكُمْ
- direct you
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- to
- ahli
- أَهْلِ
- (the) people
- baytin
- بَيْتٍ
- (of) a house
- yakfulūnahu
- يَكْفُلُونَهُۥ
- who will rear him
- lakum
- لَكُمْ
- for you
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- to him
- nāṣiḥūna
- نَٰصِحُونَ
- (will be) sincere?"
And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?" (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 12)Tafsir
فَرَدَدْنٰهُ اِلٰٓى اُمِّهٖ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ اَنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَّلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ࣖ ١٣
- faradadnāhu
- فَرَدَدْنَٰهُ
- So We restored him
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- to
- ummihi
- أُمِّهِۦ
- his mother
- kay
- كَىْ
- that
- taqarra
- تَقَرَّ
- might be comforted
- ʿaynuhā
- عَيْنُهَا
- her eye
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- taḥzana
- تَحْزَنَ
- she may grieve
- walitaʿlama
- وَلِتَعْلَمَ
- and that she would know
- anna
- أَنَّ
- that
- waʿda
- وَعْدَ
- the Promise of Allah
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- the Promise of Allah
- ḥaqqun
- حَقٌّ
- (is) true
- walākinna
- وَلَٰكِنَّ
- But
- aktharahum
- أَكْثَرَهُمْ
- most of them
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of them [i.e., the people] do not know. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 13)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ اَشُدَّهٗ وَاسْتَوٰىٓ اٰتَيْنٰهُ حُكْمًا وَّعِلْمًاۗ وَكَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ ١٤
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- balagha
- بَلَغَ
- he reached
- ashuddahu
- أَشُدَّهُۥ
- his full strength
- wa-is'tawā
- وَٱسْتَوَىٰٓ
- and became mature
- ātaynāhu
- ءَاتَيْنَٰهُ
- We bestowed upon him
- ḥuk'man
- حُكْمًا
- wisdom
- waʿil'man
- وَعِلْمًاۚ
- and knowledge
- wakadhālika
- وَكَذَٰلِكَ
- And thus
- najzī
- نَجْزِى
- We reward
- l-muḥ'sinīna
- ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
- the good-doers
And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 14)Tafsir
وَدَخَلَ الْمَدِيْنَةَ عَلٰى حِيْنِ غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ اَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِيْهَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتَتِلٰنِۖ هٰذَا مِنْ شِيْعَتِهٖ وَهٰذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّهٖۚ فَاسْتَغَاثَهُ الَّذِيْ مِنْ شِيْعَتِهٖ عَلَى الَّذِيْ مِنْ عَدُوِّهٖ ۙفَوَكَزَهٗ مُوْسٰى فَقَضٰى عَلَيْهِۖ قَالَ هٰذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطٰنِۗ اِنَّهٗ عَدُوٌّ مُّضِلٌّ مُّبِيْنٌ ١٥
- wadakhala
- وَدَخَلَ
- And he entered
- l-madīnata
- ٱلْمَدِينَةَ
- the city
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- at
- ḥīni
- حِينِ
- a time
- ghaflatin
- غَفْلَةٍ
- (of) inattention
- min
- مِّنْ
- of
- ahlihā
- أَهْلِهَا
- its people
- fawajada
- فَوَجَدَ
- and found
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- therein
- rajulayni
- رَجُلَيْنِ
- two men
- yaqtatilāni
- يَقْتَتِلَانِ
- fighting each other
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- min
- مِن
- of
- shīʿatihi
- شِيعَتِهِۦ
- his party
- wahādhā
- وَهَٰذَا
- and this
- min
- مِنْ
- of
- ʿaduwwihi
- عَدُوِّهِۦۖ
- his enemy
- fa-is'taghāthahu
- فَٱسْتَغَٰثَهُ
- And called him for help
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the one who
- min
- مِن
- (was) from
- shīʿatihi
- شِيعَتِهِۦ
- his party
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- against
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the one who
- min
- مِنْ
- (was) from
- ʿaduwwihi
- عَدُوِّهِۦ
- his enemy
- fawakazahu
- فَوَكَزَهُۥ
- so Musa struck him with his fist
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- so Musa struck him with his fist
- faqaḍā
- فَقَضَىٰ
- and killed him
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِۖ
- and killed him
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- "This (is)
- min
- مِنْ
- of
- ʿamali
- عَمَلِ
- (the) deed
- l-shayṭāni
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِۖ
- (of) Shaitaan
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed, he
- ʿaduwwun
- عَدُوٌّ
- (is) an enemy
- muḍillun
- مُّضِلٌّ
- one who misleads
- mubīnun
- مُّبِينٌ
- clearly"
And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 15)Tafsir
قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّيْ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِيْ فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ فَغَفَرَ لَهٗ ۗاِنَّهٗ هُوَ الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ ١٦
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- "My Lord!
- innī
- إِنِّى
- Indeed I
- ẓalamtu
- ظَلَمْتُ
- [I] have wronged
- nafsī
- نَفْسِى
- my soul
- fa-igh'fir
- فَٱغْفِرْ
- so forgive
- lī
- لِى
- [for] me"
- faghafara
- فَغَفَرَ
- Then He forgave
- lahu
- لَهُۥٓۚ
- [for] him
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed He
- huwa
- هُوَ
- He (is)
- l-ghafūru
- ٱلْغَفُورُ
- the Oft-Forgiving
- l-raḥīmu
- ٱلرَّحِيمُ
- the Most Merciful
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 16)Tafsir
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ فَلَنْ اَكُوْنَ ظَهِيْرًا لِّلْمُجْرِمِيْنَ ١٧
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- "My Lord!
- bimā
- بِمَآ
- Because
- anʿamta
- أَنْعَمْتَ
- You have favored
- ʿalayya
- عَلَىَّ
- [on] me
- falan
- فَلَنْ
- so not
- akūna
- أَكُونَ
- I will be
- ẓahīran
- ظَهِيرًا
- a supporter
- lil'muj'rimīna
- لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ
- (of) the criminals"
He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 17)Tafsir
فَاَصْبَحَ فِى الْمَدِيْنَةِ خَاۤىِٕفًا يَّتَرَقَّبُ فَاِذَا الَّذِى اسْتَنْصَرَهٗ بِالْاَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهٗ ۗقَالَ لَهٗ مُوْسٰٓى اِنَّكَ لَغَوِيٌّ مُّبِيْنٌ ١٨
- fa-aṣbaḥa
- فَأَصْبَحَ
- In the morning he was
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-madīnati
- ٱلْمَدِينَةِ
- the city
- khāifan
- خَآئِفًا
- fearful
- yataraqqabu
- يَتَرَقَّبُ
- (and) was vigilant
- fa-idhā
- فَإِذَا
- when behold!
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- The one who
- is'tanṣarahu
- ٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥ
- sought his help
- bil-amsi
- بِٱلْأَمْسِ
- the previous day
- yastaṣrikhuhu
- يَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥۚ
- cried out to him for help
- qāla
- قَالَ
- Said
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- to him
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰٓ
- Musa
- innaka
- إِنَّكَ
- "Indeed you
- laghawiyyun
- لَغَوِىٌّ
- (are) surely a deviator
- mubīnun
- مُّبِينٌ
- clear"
And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 18)Tafsir
فَلَمَّآ اَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يَّبْطِشَ بِالَّذِيْ هُوَ عَدُوٌّ لَّهُمَاۙ قَالَ يٰمُوْسٰٓى اَتُرِيْدُ اَنْ تَقْتُلَنِيْ كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًاۢ بِالْاَمْسِۖ اِنْ تُرِيْدُ اِلَّآ اَنْ تَكُوْنَ جَبَّارًا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيْدُ اَنْ تَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُصْلِحِيْنَ ١٩
- falammā
- فَلَمَّآ
- Then when
- an
- أَنْ
- [that]
- arāda
- أَرَادَ
- he wanted
- an
- أَن
- to
- yabṭisha
- يَبْطِشَ
- strike
- bi-alladhī
- بِٱلَّذِى
- the one who
- huwa
- هُوَ
- [he] (was)
- ʿaduwwun
- عَدُوٌّ
- an enemy
- lahumā
- لَّهُمَا
- to both of them
- qāla
- قَالَ
- he said
- yāmūsā
- يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
- "O Musa!
- aturīdu
- أَتُرِيدُ
- Do you intend
- an
- أَن
- to
- taqtulanī
- تَقْتُلَنِى
- kill me
- kamā
- كَمَا
- as
- qatalta
- قَتَلْتَ
- you killed
- nafsan
- نَفْسًۢا
- a person
- bil-amsi
- بِٱلْأَمْسِۖ
- yesterday?
- in
- إِن
- Not
- turīdu
- تُرِيدُ
- you want
- illā
- إِلَّآ
- but
- an
- أَن
- that
- takūna
- تَكُونَ
- you become
- jabbāran
- جَبَّارًا
- a tyrant
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- turīdu
- تُرِيدُ
- you want
- an
- أَن
- that
- takūna
- تَكُونَ
- you be
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-muṣ'liḥīna
- ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ
- the reformers"
And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 19)Tafsir
وَجَاۤءَ رَجُلٌ مِّنْ اَقْصَى الْمَدِيْنَةِ يَسْعٰىۖ قَالَ يٰمُوْسٰٓى اِنَّ الْمَلَاَ يَأْتَمِرُوْنَ بِكَ لِيَقْتُلُوْكَ فَاخْرُجْ اِنِّيْ لَكَ مِنَ النّٰصِحِيْنَ ٢٠
- wajāa
- وَجَآءَ
- And came
- rajulun
- رَجُلٌ
- a man
- min
- مِّنْ
- from
- aqṣā
- أَقْصَا
- (the) farthest end
- l-madīnati
- ٱلْمَدِينَةِ
- (of) the city
- yasʿā
- يَسْعَىٰ
- running
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- yāmūsā
- يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
- "O Musa!
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-mala-a
- ٱلْمَلَأَ
- the chiefs
- yatamirūna
- يَأْتَمِرُونَ
- are taking counsel
- bika
- بِكَ
- about you
- liyaqtulūka
- لِيَقْتُلُوكَ
- to kill you
- fa-ukh'ruj
- فَٱخْرُجْ
- so leave;
- innī
- إِنِّى
- indeed I am
- laka
- لَكَ
- to you
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-nāṣiḥīna
- ٱلنَّٰصِحِينَ
- the sincere advisors"
And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 20)Tafsir
