طٰسۤمّۤ ١

طسٓمٓ
Ta Seem Meem
Ta, Seen, Meem. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 1)
Tafsir
2

تِلْكَ اٰيٰتُ الْكِتٰبِ الْمُبِيْنِ ٢

til'ka
تِلْكَ
These
āyātu
ءَايَٰتُ
(are the) Verses
l-kitābi
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
(of) the Book
l-mubīni
ٱلْمُبِينِ
the clear
These are verses of the clear Book. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 2)
Tafsir
3

نَتْلُوْا عَلَيْكَ مِنْ نَّبَاِ مُوْسٰى وَفِرْعَوْنَ بِالْحَقِّ لِقَوْمٍ يُّؤْمِنُوْنَ ٣

natlū
نَتْلُوا۟
We recite
ʿalayka
عَلَيْكَ
to you
min
مِن
from
naba-i
نَّبَإِ
(the) news
mūsā
مُوسَىٰ
(of) Musa
wafir'ʿawna
وَفِرْعَوْنَ
and Firaun
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّ
in truth
liqawmin
لِقَوْمٍ
for a people
yu'minūna
يُؤْمِنُونَ
who believe
We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 3)
Tafsir

اِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ اَهْلَهَا شِيَعًا يَّسْتَضْعِفُ طَاۤىِٕفَةً مِّنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ اَبْنَاۤءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيٖ نِسَاۤءَهُمْ ۗاِنَّهٗ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ ٤

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
fir'ʿawna
فِرْعَوْنَ
Firaun
ʿalā
عَلَا
exalted himself
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the land
wajaʿala
وَجَعَلَ
and made
ahlahā
أَهْلَهَا
its people
shiyaʿan
شِيَعًا
(into) sects
yastaḍʿifu
يَسْتَضْعِفُ
oppressing
ṭāifatan
طَآئِفَةً
a group
min'hum
مِّنْهُمْ
among them
yudhabbiḥu
يُذَبِّحُ
slaughtering
abnāahum
أَبْنَآءَهُمْ
their sons
wayastaḥyī
وَيَسْتَحْىِۦ
and letting live
nisāahum
نِسَآءَهُمْۚ
their women
innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed he
kāna
كَانَ
was
mina
مِنَ
of
l-muf'sidīna
ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
the corrupters
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 4)
Tafsir
5

وَنُرِيْدُ اَنْ نَّمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ اسْتُضْعِفُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ اَىِٕمَّةً وَّنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوٰرِثِيْنَ ۙ ٥

wanurīdu
وَنُرِيدُ
And We wanted
an
أَن
to
namunna
نَّمُنَّ
bestow a favor
ʿalā
عَلَى
upon
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
us'tuḍ'ʿifū
ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟
were oppressed
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the land
wanajʿalahum
وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ
and make them
a-immatan
أَئِمَّةً
leaders
wanajʿalahumu
وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ
and make them
l-wārithīna
ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
the inheritors
And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 5)
Tafsir
6

وَنُمَكِّنَ لَهُمْ فِى الْاَرْضِ وَنُرِيَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامٰنَ وَجُنُوْدَهُمَا مِنْهُمْ مَّا كَانُوْا يَحْذَرُوْنَ ٦

wanumakkina
وَنُمَكِّنَ
And [We] establish
lahum
لَهُمْ
them
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the land
wanuriya
وَنُرِىَ
and show
fir'ʿawna
فِرْعَوْنَ
Firaun
wahāmāna
وَهَٰمَٰنَ
and Haman
wajunūdahumā
وَجُنُودَهُمَا
and their hosts
min'hum
مِنْهُم
through them
مَّا
what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they were
yaḥdharūna
يَحْذَرُونَ
fearing
And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Haman and their soldiers through them that which they had feared. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 6)
Tafsir

وَاَوْحَيْنَآ اِلٰٓى اُمِّ مُوْسٰٓى اَنْ اَرْضِعِيْهِۚ فَاِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَاَلْقِيْهِ فِى الْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِيْ وَلَا تَحْزَنِيْ ۚاِنَّا رَاۤدُّوْهُ اِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوْهُ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ ٧

wa-awḥaynā
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ
And We inspired
ilā
إِلَىٰٓ
[to]
ummi
أُمِّ
(the) mother
mūsā
مُوسَىٰٓ
(of) Musa
an
أَنْ
that
arḍiʿīhi
أَرْضِعِيهِۖ
"Suckle him
fa-idhā
فَإِذَا
but when
khif'ti
خِفْتِ
you fear
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
for him
fa-alqīhi
فَأَلْقِيهِ
then cast him
فِى
in(to)
l-yami
ٱلْيَمِّ
the river
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
takhāfī
تَخَافِى
fear
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
taḥzanī
تَحْزَنِىٓۖ
grieve
innā
إِنَّا
Indeed We
rāddūhu
رَآدُّوهُ
(will) restore him
ilayki
إِلَيْكِ
to you
wajāʿilūhu
وَجَاعِلُوهُ
and (will) make him
mina
مِنَ
of
l-mur'salīna
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
the Messengers"
And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers." (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 7)

فَالْتَقَطَهٗٓ اٰلُ فِرْعَوْنَ لِيَكُوْنَ لَهُمْ عَدُوًّا وَّحَزَنًاۗ اِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامٰنَ وَجُنُوْدَهُمَا كَانُوْا خٰطِـِٕيْنَ ٨

fal-taqaṭahu
فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓ
Then picked him up
ālu
ءَالُ
(the) family
fir'ʿawna
فِرْعَوْنَ
(of) Firaun
liyakūna
لِيَكُونَ
so that he might become
lahum
لَهُمْ
to them
ʿaduwwan
عَدُوًّا
an enemy
waḥazanan
وَحَزَنًاۗ
and a grief
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
fir'ʿawna
فِرْعَوْنَ
Firaun
wahāmāna
وَهَٰمَٰنَ
and Haman
wajunūdahumā
وَجُنُودَهُمَا
and their hosts
kānū
كَانُوا۟
were
khāṭiīna
خَٰطِـِٔينَ
sinners
And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were deliberate sinners. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 8)
Tafsir
9

وَقَالَتِ امْرَاَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍ لِّيْ وَلَكَۗ لَا تَقْتُلُوْهُ ۖعَسٰٓى اَنْ يَّنْفَعَنَآ اَوْ نَتَّخِذَهٗ وَلَدًا وَّهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ ٩

waqālati
وَقَالَتِ
And said
im'ra-atu
ٱمْرَأَتُ
(the) wife
fir'ʿawna
فِرْعَوْنَ
(of) Firaun
qurratu
قُرَّتُ
"A comfort
ʿaynin
عَيْنٍ
(of the) eye
لِّى
for me
walaka
وَلَكَۖ
and for you;
لَا
(Do) not
taqtulūhu
تَقْتُلُوهُ
kill him;
ʿasā
عَسَىٰٓ
perhaps
an
أَن
(that)
yanfaʿanā
يَنفَعَنَآ
he may benefit us
aw
أَوْ
or
nattakhidhahu
نَتَّخِذَهُۥ
we may take him
waladan
وَلَدًا
(as) a son"
wahum
وَهُمْ
And they
لَا
(did) not
yashʿurūna
يَشْعُرُونَ
perceive
And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye [i.e., pleasure] for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 9)
Tafsir
10

وَاَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ اُمِّ مُوْسٰى فٰرِغًاۗ اِنْ كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِيْ بِهٖ لَوْلَآ اَنْ رَّبَطْنَا عَلٰى قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ١٠

wa-aṣbaḥa
وَأَصْبَحَ
And became
fuādu
فُؤَادُ
(the) heart
ummi
أُمِّ
(of the) mother
mūsā
مُوسَىٰ
(of) Musa
fārighan
فَٰرِغًاۖ
empty
in
إِن
That
kādat
كَادَتْ
she was near
latub'dī
لَتُبْدِى
(to) disclosing
bihi
بِهِۦ
about him
lawlā
لَوْلَآ
if not
an
أَن
that
rabaṭnā
رَّبَطْنَا
We strengthened
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
[over]
qalbihā
قَلْبِهَا
her heart
litakūna
لِتَكُونَ
so that she would be
mina
مِنَ
of
l-mu'minīna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
the believers
And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers. (QS. [28] Al-Qasas: 10)
