Al-Qur'an Surah An-Naml Verse 52

An-Naml [27]: 52 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَتِلْكَ بُيُوْتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةً ۢبِمَا ظَلَمُوْاۗ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَّعْلَمُوْنَ (النمل : ٢٧)

fatil'ka
فَتِلْكَ
So these
buyūtuhum
بُيُوتُهُمْ
(are) their houses
khāwiyatan
خَاوِيَةًۢ
ruined
bimā
بِمَا
because
ẓalamū
ظَلَمُوٓا۟ۗ
they wronged
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyatan
لَءَايَةً
surely is a sign
liqawmin
لِّقَوْمٍ
for a people
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
who know

Transliteration:

Fatilka buyootuhum khaa wiyatam bimaa zalamoo; inna fee zaalika la Aayatal liqaw miny-ya'lamoon (QS. an-Naml:52)

English / Sahih Translation:

So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know. (QS. An-Naml, ayah 52)

Now those are their houses, lying empty because of their transgression. Surely, in this there are signs for a people who have knowledge.

So these their habitations lie deserted now because of their iniquities. Verily there is a sign in this for those who understand.

So there lay their houses, fallen in ruin because of their wrongdoing. There is indeed a sign in that for a people who have knowledge.

Those then are their houses, all lying in utter ruins because they were lost in wrongdoing. Surely in this is a sign (an important lesson) for a people seeking knowledge.

So their houses are lying deserted over there because of their acting unjustly. Indeed, in this (episode) there is a great sign for a people who would know.

English Literal

So those are their houses/homes destroyed/unoccupied because (of) what they caused injustice/oppression, that in that (is) an evidence/sign (E) to a nation knowing.

Here are their homes, in ruins, on account of their iniquities. Surely in this is a sign for people who know.

Tafsir jalalayn

So those then are their houses [lying] deserted (khwiyatan is in the accusative because it is a circumstantial qualifier, the operator of which is the import of the demonstrative pronoun [tilka, `those']) because of the evil which they did, that is, their disbelief. Surely in that there is a sign, a lesson, for a people who have knowledge, of Our power and are thus admonished.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةً

So, they plotted a plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. Then see how was the end of their plot! Verily, We destroyed them and their nation, all together. These are their houses in utter ruin,

i.e., deserted."

بِمَا ظَلَمُوا إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ



وَأَنجَيْنَا الَّذِينَ امَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ
