Al-Qur'an Surah An-Naml Verse 4

An-Naml [27]: 4 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ اَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُوْنَ ۗ (النمل : ٢٧)

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ

yu'minūna
يُؤْمِنُونَ
believe
bil-ākhirati
بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
in the Hereafter
zayyannā
زَيَّنَّا
We have made fair-seeming
lahum
لَهُمْ
to them
aʿmālahum
أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
their deeds
fahum
فَهُمْ
so they
yaʿmahūna
يَعْمَهُونَ
wander blindly

Transliteration:

Innal lazeena laa yu'mimoona bil Aakhirati zaiyannaa lahum a'maalahum fahum ya'mahoon (QS. an-Naml:4)

English / Sahih Translation:

Indeed, for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made pleasing to them their deeds, so they wander blindly. (QS. An-Naml, ayah 4)

As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds look beautiful to them. So they are wandering astray.

English Literal

That those who do not believe with the end (other life), We decorated/beautified for them their deeds , so they are being confused/puzzled.

Tafsir jalalayn

Truly those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have adorned their, vile, deeds for them, by making such [deeds] seem sensuous so that they then deem them wholesome, and so they are bewildered, confused about why We deem these [deeds] to be vile.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُوْمِنُونَ بِالاْخِرَةِ

Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter,

meaning, those who deny it and think that it will never happen,

زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَ



We have made their deeds fair seeming to them, so that they wander about blindly.

means, `We have made what they are doing seem good to them, and We have left them to continue in their misguidance, so they are lost and confused.'

This is their recompense for their disbelief in the Hereafter, as Allah says;

وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْيِدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَـرَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُوْمِنُواْ بِهِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ

And We shall turn their hearts and their eyes away, as they refused to believe therein for the first time. (6;110)
