Al-Qur'an Surah An-Naml Verse 37

An-Naml [27]: 37 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِرْجِعْ اِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُمْ بِجُنُوْدٍ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُمْ بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُمْ مِّنْهَآ اَذِلَّةً وَّهُمْ صَاغِرُوْنَ (النمل : ٢٧)

فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُم
surely we will come to them

with hosts

وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم
and surely we will drive them out

أَذِلَّةً
(in) humiliation

وَهُمْ

ṣāghirūna
صَٰغِرُونَ
(will be) abased"

Transliteration:

Irji' ilaihim falanaatiyan nahum bijunoodil laa qibala lahum bihaa wa lanukhri jannahum minhaaa azillatanw wa hum saaghiroon (QS. an-Naml:37)

English / Sahih Translation:

Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased." (QS. An-Naml, ayah 37)

Go back to them, and we will bring to them forces they have no power to face, and we will certainly drive them out from there in humiliation while they are disgraced.”

Tafsir jalalayn

Go back to them, with the gifts that you have brought, for We shall assuredly come to them with hosts which they will not be able to face and we shall expel them from there, from the land of Sheba (Saba') -- named [thus] after their tribal ancestor -- humiliated, and they shall be utterly abased', unless they come to me in submission. When the envoy returned to her with the gift, she had her throne placed inside seven doors inside her palace, with her palace inside seven palaces, and had all the doors locked with guards at them. She then prepared to make the journey to Solomon to see what he would command her. She departed with twelve thousand chieftains (qayl), each accompanied by thousands [of men] until when she came to within a parasang of him, he sensed her [arrival].

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمْ

Go back to them,

means, with their gift,

فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُمْ بِجُنُودٍ لاَّ قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا

We verily, shall come to them with armies that they cannot resist,

they have no power to match them or resist them.

وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم مِّنْهَا أَذِلَّةً

and we shall drive them out from there in disgrace,

`we shall drive them out in disgrace from their land.'

وَهُمْ صَاغِرُونَ



and they will be abased.

means, humiliated and expelled.

When her messengers came back to her with her undelivered gift, and told her what Suleiman said, she and her people paid heed and obeyed him.

She came to him with her troops in submission and humility, honoring Suleiman and intending to follow him in Islam.

When Suleiman, peace be upon him, realized that they were coming to him, he rejoiced greatly
