Al-Qur'an Surah An-Naml Verse 28
An-Naml [27]: 28 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اِذْهَبْ بِّكِتٰبِيْ هٰذَا فَاَلْقِهْ اِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُوْنَ (النمل : ٢٧)
- idh'hab
- ٱذْهَب
- Go
- bikitābī
- بِّكِتَٰبِى
- with my letter
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- fa-alqih
- فَأَلْقِهْ
- and deliver it
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِمْ
- to them
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- tawalla
- تَوَلَّ
- turn away
- ʿanhum
- عَنْهُمْ
- from them
- fa-unẓur
- فَٱنظُرْ
- and see
- mādhā
- مَاذَا
- what
- yarjiʿūna
- يَرْجِعُونَ
- they return"
Transliteration:
Izhab bikitaabee haaza fa alqih ilaihim summma tawalla 'anhum fanzur maazaa yarji'oon(QS. an-Naml:28)
English / Sahih Translation:
Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return." (QS. An-Naml, ayah 28)

Tafsir jalalayn
Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them, that is, to Bilqs and her people, then turn away, withdraw, from them, but remain close by them, and see what [response] they shall return', [and see] what kind of response they shall give. Thus, he took it and approached her [Bilqs]. But as her soldiers were all around her, he cast it into her private chamber. When she saw it, she shuddered and was consumed by fear. She read what it said.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Go you with this letter of mine and deliver it to them then draw back from them and see what they return.
Suleiman wrote a letter to Bilqis and her people and gave it to the hoopoe to deliver.
It was said that he carried it on his wings, as is the way with birds, or that he carried it in his beak. He went to their land and found the palace of Bilqis, then he went to her private chambers and threw the letter through a small window, then he stepped to one side out of good manners.
Bilqis was amazed and confused when she saw that, then she went and picked up the letter, opened its seal and read it.
The letter said;
إِنَّهُ مِن سُلَيْمَانَ وَإِنَّهُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
أَلاَّ تَعْلُوا عَلَيَّ وَأْتُونِي مُسْلِمِينَ
it is from Suleiman, and it (reads);`In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful; Be you not exalted against me, but come to me submitting (as Muslims).'
So she gathered her commanders and ministers and the leaders of her land, an
