قَالَ نَكِّرُوْا لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنْظُرْ اَتَهْتَدِيْٓ اَمْ تَكُوْنُ مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَهْتَدُوْنَ ٤١
- qāla

- He said
- nakkirū
- نَكِّرُوا۟
- "Disguise
- lahā
- لَهَا
- for her
- ʿarshahā
- عَرْشَهَا
- her throne
- nanẓur
- نَنظُرْ
- we will see
- atahtadī
- أَتَهْتَدِىٓ
- whether she will be guided
- am
- أَمْ
- or
- takūnu
- تَكُونُ
- will be
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- lā
- لَا
- are not guided"
- yahtadūna
- يَهْتَدُونَ
- are not guided"
He said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 41)Tafsir
فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَتْ قِيْلَ اَهٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِۗ قَالَتْ كَاَنَّهٗ هُوَۚ وَاُوْتِيْنَا الْعِلْمَ مِنْ قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِيْنَ ٤٢
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- So when
- jāat
- جَآءَتْ
- she came
- qīla
- قِيلَ
- it was said
- ahākadhā
- أَهَٰكَذَا
- "Is like this
- ʿarshuki
- عَرْشُكِۖ
- your throne?"
- qālat
- قَالَتْ
- She said
- ka-annahu
- كَأَنَّهُۥ
- "It is like
- huwa
- هُوَۚ
- it"
- waūtīnā
- وَأُوتِينَا
- "And we were given
- l-ʿil'ma
- ٱلْعِلْمَ
- the knowledge
- min
- مِن
- before her
- qablihā
- قَبْلِهَا
- before her
- wakunnā
- وَكُنَّا
- and we have been
- mus'limīna
- مُسْلِمِينَ
- Muslims"
So when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allah]. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 42)Tafsir
وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَتْ تَّعْبُدُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِنْ قَوْمٍ كٰفِرِيْنَ ٤٣
- waṣaddahā
- وَصَدَّهَا
- And has averted her
- mā
- مَا
- what
- kānat
- كَانَت
- she used (to)
- taʿbudu
- تَّعْبُدُ
- worship
- min
- مِن
- besides
- dūni
- دُونِ
- besides
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۖ
- Allah
- innahā
- إِنَّهَا
- Indeed, she
- kānat
- كَانَتْ
- was
- min
- مِن
- from
- qawmin
- قَوْمٍ
- a people
- kāfirīna
- كَٰفِرِينَ
- who disbelieve
And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 43)Tafsir
قِيْلَ لَهَا ادْخُلِى الصَّرْحَۚ فَلَمَّا رَاَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَّكَشَفَتْ عَنْ سَاقَيْهَاۗ قَالَ اِنَّهٗ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّنْ قَوَارِيْرَ ەۗ قَالَتْ رَبِّ اِنِّيْ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِيْ وَاَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمٰنَ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ ࣖ ٤٤

- It was said
- lahā
- لَهَا
- to her
- ud'khulī
- ٱدْخُلِى
- "Enter
- l-ṣarḥa
- ٱلصَّرْحَۖ
- the palace"
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- Then when
- ra-athu
- رَأَتْهُ
- she saw it
- ḥasibathu
- حَسِبَتْهُ
- she thought it
- lujjatan
- لُجَّةً
- (was) a pool
- wakashafat
- وَكَشَفَتْ
- and she uncovered
- ʿan
- عَن
- [on]
- sāqayhā
- سَاقَيْهَاۚ
- her shins
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- "Indeed it
- ṣarḥun
- صَرْحٌ
- (is) a palace
- mumarradun
- مُّمَرَّدٌ
- made smooth
- min
- مِّن
- of
- qawārīra
- قَوَارِيرَۗ
- glass"
- qālat
- قَالَتْ
- She said
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- "My Lord
- innī
- إِنِّى
- indeed I
- ẓalamtu
- ظَلَمْتُ
- [I] have wronged
- nafsī
- نَفْسِى
- myself
- wa-aslamtu
- وَأَسْلَمْتُ
- and I submit
- maʿa
- مَعَ
- with
- sulaymāna
- سُلَيْمَٰنَ
- Sulaiman
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- to Allah
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- (the) Lord
- l-ʿālamīna
- ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
- (of) the worlds"
She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 44)Tafsir
وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَآ اِلٰى ثَمُوْدَ اَخَاهُمْ صٰلِحًا اَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ فَاِذَا هُمْ فَرِيْقٰنِ يَخْتَصِمُوْنَ ٤٥
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And certainly
- arsalnā
- أَرْسَلْنَآ
- We sent
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- thamūda
- ثَمُودَ
- Thamud
- akhāhum
- أَخَاهُمْ
- their brother
- ṣāliḥan
- صَٰلِحًا
- Salih
- ani
- أَنِ
- that
- uʿ'budū
- ٱعْبُدُوا۟
- "Worship
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah"
- fa-idhā
- فَإِذَا
- Then behold!
- hum
- هُمْ
- They
- farīqāni
- فَرِيقَانِ
- (became) two parties
- yakhtaṣimūna
- يَخْتَصِمُونَ
- quarreling
And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Saleh, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 45)Tafsir
قَالَ يٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَسَنَةِۚ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُوْنَ اللّٰهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُوْنَ ٤٦
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- yāqawmi
- يَٰقَوْمِ
- "O my people!
- lima
- لِمَ
- Why
- tastaʿjilūna
- تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
- (do) you seek to hasten
- bil-sayi-ati
- بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ
- the evil
- qabla
- قَبْلَ
- before
- l-ḥasanati
- ٱلْحَسَنَةِۖ
- the good?
- lawlā
- لَوْلَا
- Why not
- tastaghfirūna
- تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
- you ask forgiveness
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- (of) Allah
- laʿallakum
- لَعَلَّكُمْ
- so that you may
- tur'ḥamūna
- تُرْحَمُونَ
- receive mercy?"
He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil before [i.e., instead of] good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?" (QS. [27] An-Naml: 46)Tafsir
قَالُوا اطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَنْ مَّعَكَۗ قَالَ طٰۤىِٕرُكُمْ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ بَلْ اَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُوْنَ ٤٧
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- iṭṭayyarnā
- ٱطَّيَّرْنَا
- "We consider you a bad omen
- bika
- بِكَ
- "We consider you a bad omen
- wabiman
- وَبِمَن
- and those
- maʿaka
- مَّعَكَۚ
- with you"
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- ṭāirukum
- طَٰٓئِرُكُمْ
- "Your bad omen
- ʿinda
- عِندَ
- (is) with
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۖ
- Allah
- bal
- بَلْ
- Nay
- antum
- أَنتُمْ
- you
- qawmun
- قَوْمٌ
- (are) a people
- tuf'tanūna
- تُفْتَنُونَ
- being tested"
They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen [i.e., fate] is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 47)Tafsir
وَكَانَ فِى الْمَدِيْنَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُّفْسِدُوْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُوْنَ ٤٨
- wakāna
- وَكَانَ
- And were
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-madīnati
- ٱلْمَدِينَةِ
- the city
- tis'ʿatu
- تِسْعَةُ
- nine
- rahṭin
- رَهْطٍ
- family heads
- yuf'sidūna
- يُفْسِدُونَ
- they were spreading corruption
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the land
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yuṣ'liḥūna
- يُصْلِحُونَ
- reforming
And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs]. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 48)Tafsir
قَالُوْا تَقَاسَمُوْا بِاللّٰهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهٗ وَاَهْلَهٗ ثُمَّ لَنَقُوْلَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهٖ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ اَهْلِهٖ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوْنَ ٤٩
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- taqāsamū
- تَقَاسَمُوا۟
- "Swear to each other
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- by Allah
- lanubayyitannahu
- لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ
- surely we will attack him by night
- wa-ahlahu
- وَأَهْلَهُۥ
- and his family
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- lanaqūlanna
- لَنَقُولَنَّ
- we will surely say
- liwaliyyihi
- لِوَلِيِّهِۦ
- to his heir
- mā
- مَا
- "Not
- shahid'nā
- شَهِدْنَا
- we witnessed
- mahlika
- مَهْلِكَ
- (the) destruction
- ahlihi
- أَهْلِهِۦ
- (of) his family
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- and indeed we
- laṣādiqūna
- لَصَٰدِقُونَ
- (are) surely truthful'"
They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.'" (QS. [27] An-Naml: 49)Tafsir
وَمَكَرُوْا مَكْرًا وَّمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَّهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ ٥٠
- wamakarū
- وَمَكَرُوا۟
- So they plotted
- makran
- مَكْرًا
- a plot
- wamakarnā
- وَمَكَرْنَا
- and We planned
- makran
- مَكْرًا
- a plan
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- lā
- لَا
- (did) not
- yashʿurūna
- يَشْعُرُونَ
- perceive
And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 50)Tafsir
