لَاُعَذِّبَنَّهٗ عَذَابًا شَدِيْدًا اَوْ لَاَا۟ذْبَحَنَّهٗٓ اَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنِّيْ بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِيْنٍ ٢١
- la-uʿadhibannahu
- لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُۥ
- I will surely punish him
- ʿadhāban
- عَذَابًا
- (with) a punishment
- shadīdan
- شَدِيدًا
- severe
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- laādh'baḥannahu
- لَأَا۟ذْبَحَنَّهُۥٓ
- I will surely slaughter him
- aw
- أَوْ
- unless
- layatiyannī
- لَيَأْتِيَنِّى
- he brings me
- bisul'ṭānin
- بِسُلْطَٰنٍ
- a reason
- mubīnin
- مُّبِينٍ
- clear"
I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 21)Tafsir
فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيْدٍ فَقَالَ اَحَطْتُّ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهٖ وَجِئْتُكَ مِنْ سَبَاٍ ۢبِنَبَاٍ يَّقِيْنٍ ٢٢
- famakatha
- فَمَكَثَ
- So he stayed
- ghayra
- غَيْرَ
- not
- baʿīdin
- بَعِيدٍ
- long
- faqāla
- فَقَالَ
- and he said
- aḥaṭtu
- أَحَطتُ
- "I have encompassed
- bimā
- بِمَا
- that which
- lam
- لَمْ
- not
- tuḥiṭ
- تُحِطْ
- you have encompassed
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- it
- waji'tuka
- وَجِئْتُكَ
- and I have come to you
- min
- مِن
- from
- saba-in
- سَبَإٍۭ
- Saba
- binaba-in
- بِنَبَإٍ
- with news
- yaqīnin
- يَقِينٍ
- certain
But he [i.e., the hoopoe] stayed not long and said, "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Sheba with certain news. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 22)Tafsir
اِنِّيْ وَجَدْتُّ امْرَاَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَاُوْتِيَتْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَّلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيْمٌ ٢٣
- innī
- إِنِّى
- Indeed I
- wajadttu
- وَجَدتُّ
- found
- im'ra-atan
- ٱمْرَأَةً
- a woman
- tamlikuhum
- تَمْلِكُهُمْ
- ruling them
- waūtiyat
- وَأُوتِيَتْ
- and she has been given
- min
- مِن
- of
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- walahā
- وَلَهَا
- and for her
- ʿarshun
- عَرْشٌ
- (is) a throne
- ʿaẓīmun
- عَظِيمٌ
- great
Indeed, I found [there] a woman ruling them, and she has been given of all things, and she has a great throne. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 23)Tafsir
وَجَدْتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُوْنَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطٰنُ اَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيْلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُوْنَۙ ٢٤
- wajadttuhā
- وَجَدتُّهَا
- And I found her
- waqawmahā
- وَقَوْمَهَا
- and her people
- yasjudūna
- يَسْجُدُونَ
- prostrating
- lilshamsi
- لِلشَّمْسِ
- to the sun
- min
- مِن
- instead of Allah
- dūni
- دُونِ
- instead of Allah
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- instead of Allah
- wazayyana
- وَزَيَّنَ
- and has made fair-seeming
- lahumu
- لَهُمُ
- to them
- l-shayṭānu
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
- the Shaitaan
- aʿmālahum
- أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
- their deeds
- faṣaddahum
- فَصَدَّهُمْ
- and averted them
- ʿani
- عَنِ
- from
- l-sabīli
- ٱلسَّبِيلِ
- the Way
- fahum
- فَهُمْ
- so they
- lā
- لَا
- (are) not
- yahtadūna
- يَهْتَدُونَ
- guided
I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah, and Satan has made their deeds pleasing to them and averted them from [His] way, so they are not guided, (QS. [27] An-Naml: 24)Tafsir
اَلَّا يَسْجُدُوْا لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ يُخْرِجُ الْخَبْءَ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُخْفُوْنَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُوْنَ ٢٥
- allā
- أَلَّا
- That not
- yasjudū
- يَسْجُدُوا۟
- they prostrate
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- to Allah
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the One Who
- yukh'riju
- يُخْرِجُ
- brings forth
- l-khaba-a
- ٱلْخَبْءَ
- the hidden
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِ
- and the earth
- wayaʿlamu
- وَيَعْلَمُ
- and knows
- mā
- مَا
- what
- tukh'fūna
- تُخْفُونَ
- you conceal
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and what
- tuʿ'linūna
- تُعْلِنُونَ
- you declare
[And] so they do not prostrate to Allah, who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare – (QS. [27] An-Naml: 25)Tafsir
اَللّٰهُ لَآ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۙ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ ۩ ٢٦
- al-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- lā
- لَآ
- (there is) no
- ilāha
- إِلَٰهَ
- god
- illā
- إِلَّا
- but
- huwa
- هُوَ
- He
- rabbu
- رَبُّ
- (the) Lord
- l-ʿarshi
- ٱلْعَرْشِ
- (of) the Throne
- l-ʿaẓīmi
- ٱلْعَظِيمِ۩
- the Great"
Allah – there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 26)Tafsir
۞ قَالَ سَنَنْظُرُ اَصَدَقْتَ اَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْكٰذِبِيْنَ ٢٧
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- sananẓuru
- سَنَنظُرُ
- "We will see
- aṣadaqta
- أَصَدَقْتَ
- whether you speak (the) truth
- am
- أَمْ
- or
- kunta
- كُنتَ
- you are
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-kādhibīna
- ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ
- the liars
[Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 27)Tafsir
اِذْهَبْ بِّكِتٰبِيْ هٰذَا فَاَلْقِهْ اِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُوْنَ ٢٨
- idh'hab
- ٱذْهَب
- Go
- bikitābī
- بِّكِتَٰبِى
- with my letter
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- fa-alqih
- فَأَلْقِهْ
- and deliver it
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِمْ
- to them
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- tawalla
- تَوَلَّ
- turn away
- ʿanhum
- عَنْهُمْ
- from them
- fa-unẓur
- فَٱنظُرْ
- and see
- mādhā
- مَاذَا
- what
- yarjiʿūna
- يَرْجِعُونَ
- they return"
Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 28)Tafsir
قَالَتْ يٰٓاَيُّهَا الْمَلَؤُا اِنِّيْٓ اُلْقِيَ اِلَيَّ كِتٰبٌ كَرِيْمٌ ٢٩
- qālat
- قَالَتْ
- She said
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- "O
- l-mala-u
- ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟
- chiefs!
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- Indeed [I]
- ul'qiya
- أُلْقِىَ
- is delivered
- ilayya
- إِلَىَّ
- to me
- kitābun
- كِتَٰبٌ
- a letter
- karīmun
- كَرِيمٌ
- noble
She said, "O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 29)Tafsir
اِنَّهٗ مِنْ سُلَيْمٰنَ وَاِنَّهٗ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ ۙ ٣٠
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed it
- min
- مِن
- (is) from
- sulaymāna
- سُلَيْمَٰنَ
- Sulaiman
- wa-innahu
- وَإِنَّهُۥ
- and indeed it (is)
- bis'mi
- بِسْمِ
- "In the name
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- l-raḥmāni
- ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ
- the Most Gracious
- l-raḥīmi
- ٱلرَّحِيمِ
- the Most Merciful
Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it is [i.e., reads]: 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, (QS. [27] An-Naml: 30)Tafsir
