اِلَّا مَنْ ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْنًاۢ بَعْدَ سُوْۤءٍ فَاِنِّيْ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ ١١
- illā

- ظَلَمَ
- wrongs
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- baddala
- بَدَّلَ
- substitutes
- ḥus'nan
- حُسْنًۢا
- good
- baʿda
- بَعْدَ
- after
- sūin
- سُوٓءٍ
- evil
- fa-innī
- فَإِنِّى
- then indeed I Am
- ghafūrun
- غَفُورٌ
- Oft-Forgiving
- raḥīmun
- رَّحِيمٌ
- Most Merciful
Otherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil – indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 11)Tafsir
وَاَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِيْ جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاۤءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوْۤءٍۙ فِيْ تِسْعِ اٰيٰتٍ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهٖۚ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا قَوْمًا فٰسِقِيْنَ ١٢
- wa-adkhil
- وَأَدْخِلْ
- And enter
- yadaka
- يَدَكَ
- your hand
- fī
- فِى
- into
- jaybika
- جَيْبِكَ
- your bosom
- takhruj
- تَخْرُجْ
- it will come forth
- bayḍāa
- بَيْضَآءَ
- white
- min
- مِنْ
- without
- ghayri
- غَيْرِ
- without
- sūin
- سُوٓءٍۖ
- harm
- fī
- فِى
- (These are) among
- tis'ʿi
- تِسْعِ
- nine
- āyātin
- ءَايَٰتٍ
- signs
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- fir'ʿawna
- فِرْعَوْنَ
- Firaun
- waqawmihi
- وَقَوْمِهِۦٓۚ
- and his people
- innahum
- إِنَّهُمْ
- Indeed, they
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- are
- qawman
- قَوْمًا
- a people
- fāsiqīna
- فَٰسِقِينَ
- defiantly disobedient"
And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 12)Tafsir
فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَتْهُمْ اٰيٰتُنَا مُبْصِرَةً قَالُوْا هٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُّبِيْنٌ ۚ ١٣
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- But when
- jāathum
- جَآءَتْهُمْ
- came to them
- āyātunā
- ءَايَٰتُنَا
- Our Signs
- mub'ṣiratan
- مُبْصِرَةً
- visible
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- "This
- siḥ'run
- سِحْرٌ
- (is) a magic
- mubīnun
- مُّبِينٌ
- manifest"
But when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 13)Tafsir
وَجَحَدُوْا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ اَنْفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَّعُلُوًّاۗ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ ࣖ ١٤
- wajaḥadū
- وَجَحَدُوا۟
- And they rejected
- bihā
- بِهَا
- them
- wa-is'tayqanathā
- وَٱسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ
- though were convinced with them (signs)
- anfusuhum
- أَنفُسُهُمْ
- themselves
- ẓul'man
- ظُلْمًا
- (out of) injustice
- waʿuluwwan
- وَعُلُوًّاۚ
- and haughtiness
- fa-unẓur
- فَٱنظُرْ
- So see
- kayfa
- كَيْفَ
- how
- kāna
- كَانَ
- was
- ʿāqibatu
- عَٰقِبَةُ
- (the) end
- l-muf'sidīna
- ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
- (of) the corrupters
And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters. (QS. [27] An-Naml: 14)Tafsir
وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا دَاوٗدَ وَسُلَيْمٰنَ عِلْمًاۗ وَقَالَا الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ فَضَّلَنَا عَلٰى كَثِيْرٍ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ ١٥
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And verily
- ātaynā
- ءَاتَيْنَا
- We gave
- dāwūda
- دَاوُۥدَ
- Dawood
- wasulaymāna
- وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ
- and Sulaiman
- ʿil'man
- عِلْمًاۖ
- knowledge
- waqālā
- وَقَالَا
- and they said
- l-ḥamdu
- ٱلْحَمْدُ
- "Praise be
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- to Allah
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the One Who
- faḍḍalanā
- فَضَّلَنَا
- has favored us
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- over
- kathīrin
- كَثِيرٍ
- many
- min
- مِّنْ
- of
- ʿibādihi
- عِبَادِهِ
- His servants
- l-mu'minīna
- ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
- the believers"
And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah, who has favored us over many of His believing servants." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 15)Tafsir
وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمٰنُ دَاوٗدَ وَقَالَ يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنْطِقَ الطَّيْرِ وَاُوْتِيْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍۗ اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْمُبِيْنُ ١٦
- wawaritha
- وَوَرِثَ
- And inherited
- sulaymānu
- سُلَيْمَٰنُ
- Sulaiman
- dāwūda
- دَاوُۥدَۖ
- Dawood
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- And he said
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- "O
- l-nāsu
- ٱلنَّاسُ
- people!
- ʿullim'nā
- عُلِّمْنَا
- We have been taught
- manṭiqa
- مَنطِقَ
- (the) language
- l-ṭayri
- ٱلطَّيْرِ
- (of) the birds
- waūtīnā
- وَأُوتِينَا
- and we have been given
- min
- مِن
- from
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍۖ
- thing
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- this
- lahuwa
- لَهُوَ
- surely it
- l-faḍlu
- ٱلْفَضْلُ
- (is) the favor
- l-mubīnu
- ٱلْمُبِينُ
- evident"
And Solomon inherited David. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 16)Tafsir
وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمٰنَ جُنُوْدُهٗ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوْزَعُوْنَ ١٧
- waḥushira
- وَحُشِرَ
- And were gathered
- lisulaymāna
- لِسُلَيْمَٰنَ
- for Sulaiman
- junūduhu
- جُنُودُهُۥ
- his hosts
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-jini
- ٱلْجِنِّ
- jinn
- wal-insi
- وَٱلْإِنسِ
- and the men
- wal-ṭayri
- وَٱلطَّيْرِ
- and the birds
- fahum
- فَهُمْ
- and they
- yūzaʿūna
- يُوزَعُونَ
- (were) set in rows
And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows (QS. [27] An-Naml: 17)Tafsir
حَتّٰىٓ اِذَآ اَتَوْا عَلٰى وَادِ النَّمْلِۙ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يّٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوْا مَسٰكِنَكُمْۚ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمٰنُ وَجُنُوْدُهٗۙ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُوْنَ ١٨
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰٓ
- Until
- idhā
- إِذَآ
- when
- ataw
- أَتَوْا۟
- they came
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- to
- wādi
- وَادِ
- (the) valley
- l-namli
- ٱلنَّمْلِ
- (of) the ants
- qālat
- قَالَتْ
- said
- namlatun
- نَمْلَةٌ
- an ant
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- "O
- l-namlu
- ٱلنَّمْلُ
- ants!
- ud'khulū
- ٱدْخُلُوا۟
- Enter
- masākinakum
- مَسَٰكِنَكُمْ
- your dwellings
- lā
- لَا
- lest not crush you
- yaḥṭimannakum
- يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ
- lest not crush you
- sulaymānu
- سُلَيْمَٰنُ
- Sulaiman
- wajunūduhu
- وَجُنُودُهُۥ
- and his hosts
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not perceive"
- yashʿurūna
- يَشْعُرُونَ
- (do) not perceive"
Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 18)Tafsir
فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكًا مِّنْ قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ اَوْزِعْنِيْٓ اَنْ اَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِيْٓ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَيَّ وَاَنْ اَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضٰىهُ وَاَدْخِلْنِيْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِيْ عِبَادِكَ الصّٰلِحِيْنَ ١٩
- fatabassama
- فَتَبَسَّمَ
- So he smiled -
- ḍāḥikan
- ضَاحِكًا
- laughing
- min
- مِّن
- at
- qawlihā
- قَوْلِهَا
- her speech
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- and said
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- "My Lord!
- awziʿ'nī
- أَوْزِعْنِىٓ
- Grant me (the) power
- an
- أَنْ
- that
- ashkura
- أَشْكُرَ
- I may thank You
- niʿ'mataka
- نِعْمَتَكَ
- (for) Your Favor
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِىٓ
- which
- anʿamta
- أَنْعَمْتَ
- You have bestowed
- ʿalayya
- عَلَىَّ
- on me
- waʿalā
- وَعَلَىٰ
- and on
- wālidayya
- وَٰلِدَىَّ
- my parents
- wa-an
- وَأَنْ
- and that
- aʿmala
- أَعْمَلَ
- I may do
- ṣāliḥan
- صَٰلِحًا
- righteous (deeds)
- tarḍāhu
- تَرْضَىٰهُ
- that will please You
- wa-adkhil'nī
- وَأَدْخِلْنِى
- And admit me
- biraḥmatika
- بِرَحْمَتِكَ
- by Your Mercy
- fī
- فِى
- among
- ʿibādika
- عِبَادِكَ
- Your slaves
- l-ṣāliḥīna
- ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
- righteous"
So [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants." (QS. [27] An-Naml: 19)Tafsir
وَتَفَقَّدَ الطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَا لِيَ لَآ اَرَى الْهُدْهُدَۖ اَمْ كَانَ مِنَ الْغَاۤىِٕبِيْنَ ٢٠
- watafaqqada
- وَتَفَقَّدَ
- And he inspected
- l-ṭayra
- ٱلطَّيْرَ
- the birds
- faqāla
- فَقَالَ
- and said
- mā
- مَا
- "Why
- liya
- لِىَ
- "Why
- lā
- لَآ
- not
- arā
- أَرَى
- I see
- l-hud'huda
- ٱلْهُدْهُدَ
- the hoopoe
- am
- أَمْ
- or
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is he
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-ghāibīna
- ٱلْغَآئِبِينَ
- the absent?
And he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe – or is he among the absent? (QS. [27] An-Naml: 20)Tafsir
