Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shu'ara Verse 71

Ash-Shu'ara [26]: 71 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

قَالُوْا نَعْبُدُ اَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عٰكِفِيْنَ (الشعراء : ٢٦)

فَنَظَلُّ
so we will remain

عَٰكِفِينَ

Transliteration:

Qaaloo na'budu asnaaman fanazallu lahaa 'aakifeen (QS. aš-Šuʿarāʾ:71)

English / Sahih Translation:

They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." (QS. Ash-Shu'ara, ayah 71)

They said, “We worship idols, and stay devoted to them.”

Tafsir jalalayn

They said, `We worship idols -- they reiterate the verb [in the response] in order to supplement it with [the following remark] -- and remain cleaving to them', we remain worshipping them all day; they give a longer response to indicate their [misplaced] pride in such [an act].

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

They said;"We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted."

meaning;we are devoted to worshipping them and praying to them.

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
