Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shu'ara Verse 41

Ash-Shu'ara [26]: 41 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوْا لِفِرْعَوْنَ اَىِٕنَّ لَنَا لَاَجْرًا اِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغٰلِبِيْنَ (الشعراء : ٢٦)

falammā

ٱلسَّحَرَةُ
the magicians
qālū
قَالُوا۟
they said
lifir'ʿawna
لِفِرْعَوْنَ
to Firaun
a-inna
أَئِنَّ
"Is there

لَنَا
for us
la-ajran
لَأَجْرًا
a reward
in
إِن
if
kunnā
كُنَّا
we are
naḥnu
نَحْنُ
we are
l-ghālibīna
ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ
the victorious?"

Transliteration:

Falammaa jaaa'as saharatu qaaloo li Fir'awna a'inna lanaa la ajjran in kunnaa nahnul ghaalibeen (QS. aš-Šuʿarāʾ:41)

English / Sahih Translation:

And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?" (QS. Ash-Shu'ara, ayah 41)

So, when the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, “Will there be a sure reward for us, if we are the victorious?”

Tafsir jalalayn

So when the sorcerers came, they said to Pharaoh, `Shall we indeed (read a-inna either by pronouncing both hamzas, or by not pronouncing the second, but in both cases inserting an alif) have a reward if we were to be the victors?'

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَلَمَّا جَاء السَّحَرَةُ

So, when the sorcerers arrived,

means, when they reached the court of Fir`awn, and a pavilion had been erected for him. There he gathered his servants, followers, administrators, and provincial leaders, and the soldiers of his kingdom. The sorcerers stood before Fir`awn, asking him to treat them well and bring them closer to him if they prevailed in this matter which he had brought them together for. They said;

قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَيِنَّ لَنَا لَااَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ

"Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners!"

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِين
