English / Sahih Translation:
Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers. (QS. Ash-Shu'ara, ayah 3)
(O Prophet,) perhaps you are going to let yourself collapse in grief because they do not believe.
Perhaps you ˹O Prophet˺ will grieve yourself to death over their disbelief.
Perhaps you will grieve yourself to death because they do not believe.
Perchance thou consumest thyself that they are not believers.
[Prophet], are you going to worry yourself to death because they will not believe?
Belike thou shalt kill thyself with grief because they become not believers.
It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.
(O Muhammad), you will perhaps grieve yourself to death because these people do not believe.
You may perhaps wear out your heart because they do not come to belief.
Possibly you may risk your life (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) by grieving, because they did not believe.
You are liable to imperil your life [out of distress] that they will not have faith.
It may be that you (O Messenger) will torment yourself to death because they refuse to believe.
Perhaps you will consume yourself away (with anxiety) because they do not become believers.
Maybe/perhaps you (are) exhausting/destroying yourself from anger that they not be believing.
Possibly you may risk your life (O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) by grieving, because they did not believe.
26:2.These are the verses of the Book that clarifies (illuminates);
It may be that you (O Muhammad SAW) are going to kill yourself with grief, that they do not become believers [in your Risalah (Messengership) and in your Message of Islamic Monotheism].
These are the verses of the Book that makes manifest.
Perhaps you will kill yourself with grief because they do not believe.
It may be that thou tormentest thyself (O Muhammad) because they believe not.
You will perhaps kill yourself with anguish because they are not accepting the faith.
Perhaps you consume yourself that they are not believers.
It may be that you are going Bakhi` yourself, that they do not become believers.
It may be that you will destroy yourself with grief because they will not believe.
Perhaps you will destroy yourself with grief, because they do not become believers.
Perhaps, O Muhammad (s), you might kill yourself, out of distress for the reason, that they, namely, the people of Mecca, will not become believers (la`alla here expresses sympathy, in other words [what is meant is] `have pity on it [your self] by alleviating [the burden of] this distress').
It may be that you are going Bakhi` yourself,
means, destroy yourself -- because of your keenness that they should be guided and your grief for them.
that they do not become believers.
Here Allah is consoling His Messenger for the lack of faith of those among the disbelievers who do not believe in him.
This is like the Ayat;
So destroy not yourself in sorrow for them. (35;8)
Perhaps, you would Bakhi` yourself, over their footsteps, because they believe not in this narration. (18;6)
Mujahid, Ikrimah, Qatadah, Atiyyah, Ad-Dahhak, Al-Hasan and others said that;
(It may be that you are going Bakhi` yourself),
means, `kill yourself.'
Then Allah says;
