Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shu'ara Verse 209
Ash-Shu'ara [26]: 209 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
ذِكْرٰىۚ وَمَا كُنَّا ظٰلِمِيْنَ (الشعراء : ٢٦)
- dhik'rā
- ذِكْرَىٰ
- (To) remind
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- We are
- ẓālimīna
- ظَٰلِمِينَ
- unjust
Transliteration:
Zikraa wa maa kunnaa zaalimeen(QS. aš-Šuʿarāʾ:209)
English / Sahih Translation:
As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. (QS. Ash-Shu'ara, ayah 209)

Tafsir jalalayn
as a reminder, an admonition for them; for We were never unjust, for We destroy them [only] after they have been warned. The following was revealed to refute what the idolaters were saying;
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
And never did We destroy a township but it had its warners by way of reminder, and We have never been unjust.
This is like the Ayat;
وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّى نَبْعَثَ رَسُولاً
And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger. (17;15)
وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ الْقُرَى حَتَّى يَبْعَثَ فِي أُمِّهَا رَسُولاً يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ ايَاتِنَا
وَمَا كُنَّا مُهْلِكِي الْقُرَى إِلاَّ وَأَهْلُهَا ظَالِمُونَ
And never will your Lord destroy the towns until He sends to their mother town a Messenger reciting to them Our Ayat.
And never would We destroy the towns unless the people thereof are wrongdoers. (28;59)
