Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shu'ara Verse 139

Ash-Shu'ara [26]: 139 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَاَهْلَكْنٰهُمْۗ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً ۗوَمَا كَانَ اَكْثَرُهُمْ مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ (الشعراء : ٢٦)

fakadhabūhu
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
So they denied him
fa-ahlaknāhum
فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْۗ
then We destroyed them
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
فِى
in
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
laāyatan
لَءَايَةًۖ
surely is a sign
wamā
وَمَا
but not
kāna
كَانَ
are
aktharuhum
أَكْثَرُهُم
most of them
mu'minīna
مُّؤْمِنِينَ
believers

Transliteration:

Fakazzaboohu fa ahlaknaahum; inna fee zaalika la aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen (QS. aš-Šuʿarāʾ:139)

English / Sahih Translation:

And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. (QS. Ash-Shu'ara, ayah 139)

Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe.

Thus they cried him lies and We destroyed them. There is indeed, a remarkable sign in this (episode), yet most of them would not be believers.

So they denied him , so We made them die/destroyed them, that truly in that (is) an evidence/sign (E), and most of them were not believing.

Tafsir jalalayn

So they denied him, concerning the chastisement, whereupon We destroyed them, in this world with the [barren] wind [cf. Q. 51;41]. Surely in that there is a sign; but most of them are not believers.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
