Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shu'ara Verse 111

Ash-Shu'ara [26]: 111 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

۞ قَالُوْٓا اَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْاَرْذَلُوْنَ ۗ (الشعراء : ٢٦)

qālū
قَالُوٓا۟
They said
anu'minu
أَنُؤْمِنُ
"Should we believe
laka
لَكَ
in you
wa-ittabaʿaka
وَٱتَّبَعَكَ
while followed you
l-ardhalūna
ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ
the lowest?"

Transliteration:

Qaalooo anu'minu laka wattaba 'akal arzaloon (QS. aš-Šuʿarāʾ:111)

English / Sahih Translation:

They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?" (QS. Ash-Shu'ara, ayah 111)

They said, “Shall we believe in you while you are followed by the lowest people?”

Tafsir jalalayn

They said, `Shall we believe in you, in your words, when it is the lowliest people who follow you?' (wa'ttaba`aka; a variant reading has wa-atb`uka, `[when] your followers', plural of tbi`, `follower', as a subject) the riffraff, such as the weavers and the shoemakers.

The Demand of the People of Nuh and His Response

They said;"We do not believe in you, and we will not follow you and become equal to the meanest of the people, who follow you and believe in you, and they are the lowest among us."
