Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Furqan Verse 69

Al-Furqan [25]: 69 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

يُّضٰعَفْ لَهُ الْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ وَيَخْلُدْ فِيْهٖ مُهَانًا ۙ (الفرقان : ٢٥)

Will be doubled

ٱلْعَذَابُ
the punishment
yawma
يَوْمَ
(on the) Day
l-qiyāmati
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
(of) Resurrection
wayakhlud
وَيَخْلُدْ
and he will abide forever
fīhi
فِيهِۦ
therein
muhānan
مُهَانًا
humiliated

Transliteration:

Yudaa'af lahul 'azaabu Yawmal Qiyaamati wa yakhlud feehee muhaanaa (QS. al-Furq̈ān:69)

English / Sahih Translation:

Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated – (QS. Al-Furqan, ayah 69)

the punishment will be doubled for him, and he will remain there disdained, for ever,

English Literal

The torture be doubled/multiplied for him (on) the Resurrection Day, and he be immortal/eternal in it, humiliated/disgraced .

And those who call not upon another god with Allah; nor take the life which Allah has forbidden save in justice; nor commit adultery (or fornication) - for he who does that shall pay the penalty;

Tafsir jalalayn

doubled (yud`af; a variant reading has yuda``af) will be the chastisement for him on the Day of Resurrection and he will abide therein (both verbs may be read in [the imperfect] apocopated form [yud`af, `it will be doubled', and yakhlud, `he will abide'] as substitutions, or with the [indicative] damma inflection [yud`afu and yakhludu] to indicate the beginning of a new sentence) abased (muhnan is a circumstantial qualifier);

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

يُضَاعَفْ لَهُ الْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

The torment will be doubled for him on the Day of Resurrection,

i.e., repetitive and intensified.

وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِ مُهَانًا



and he will abide therein in disgrace;

scorned and humiliated
