Al-Furqan [25]: 65 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالَّذِيْنَ يَقُوْلُوْنَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَۖ اِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا ۖ (الفرقان : ٢٥)

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
yaqūlūna
يَقُولُونَ
say
rabbanā
رَبَّنَا
"Our Lord!
iṣ'rif
ٱصْرِفْ
Avert
ʿannā
عَنَّا
from us
ʿadhāba
عَذَابَ
the punishment
jahannama
جَهَنَّمَۖ
(of) Hell
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed

عَذَابَهَا
its punishment

غَرَامًا
inseparable

Transliteration:

Wallazeena yaqooloona Rabbanas rif 'annnaa 'azaaba Jahannama inn 'azaabahaa kaana gharaamaa (QS. al-Furq̈ān:65)

English / Sahih Translation:

And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering; (QS. Al-Furqan, ayah 65)

and those who say, “Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Jahannam (the Hell); indeed, its punishment is a persisting affliction.”

Tafsir jalalayn

and who say, `Our Lord, avert from us from the chastisement of Hell. Truly its chastisement is abiding, that is, irrevocable.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And those who say;"Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily, its torment is ever an inseparable punishment."

meaning, ever-present and never ending.

Al-Hasan said concerning the Ayah,
إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
(Verily, its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment),

Everything that strikes the son of Adam, then disappears, does not constitute an inseparable, permanent punishment. The inseparable, permanent punishment is that which lasts as long as heaven and earth.

This was also the view of Sulayman At-Taymi.

إِنَّهَا سَاءتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَمُقَامًا
