Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Furqan Verse 64

Al-Furqan [25]: 64 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالَّذِيْنَ يَبِيْتُوْنَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًا وَّقِيَامًا (الفرقان : ٢٥)

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
yabītūna
يَبِيتُونَ
spend (the) night
lirabbihim
لِرَبِّهِمْ
before their Lord
sujjadan
سُجَّدًا
prostrating
waqiyāman
وَقِيَٰمًا
and standing

Transliteration:

Wallazeena yabeetoona li Rabbihim sujjadanw wa qiyaamaa (QS. al-Furq̈ān:64)

English / Sahih Translation:

And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer] (QS. Al-Furqan, ayah 64)

and who spend the night before their Lord, prostrating (sujjad is the plural of sjid) and standing [in worship], in other words, they spend the night performing prayers;

And those who spend the night in worship of their Lord, prostrate and standing.

meaning, worshipping and obeying Him.

This is like the Ayat;

كَانُواْ قَلِيلً مِّن الَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ

وَبِالاٌّسْحَـرِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

They used to sleep but little by night. And in the hours before dawn, they were asking for forgiveness. (51;17-18)

تَتَجَافَى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ

Their sides forsake their beds... (32;16)

أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَانِتٌ ءَانَأءَ الَّيْلِ سَـجِداً وَقَأيِماً يَحْذَرُ الاٌّخِرَةَ وَيَرْجُواْ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِ

Is one who is obedient to Allah, prostrating himself or standing during the hours of the night, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord... (39;9)

Allah says;

وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
