Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Furqan Verse 42
Al-Furqan [25]: 42 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اِنْ كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ اٰلِهَتِنَا لَوْلَآ اَنْ صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَاۗ وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُوْنَ حِيْنَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ مَنْ اَضَلُّ سَبِيْلًا (الفرقان : ٢٥)

Transliteration:
In kaada la yudillunaa 'an aalihatinaa law laaa an sabarnaa 'alaihaa; wa sawfa ya'lamoona heena yarawnal 'azaaba man adallu sabeela(QS. al-Furq̈ān:42)
English / Sahih Translation:
He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way. (QS. Al-Furqan, ayah 42)

He would have almost led us astray from our gods, had we not been so firm towards them.” They will know when they will see the punishment, who is farther astray in his way.

English Literal
That he was about to/almost to misguide us from our gods, except for that we were patient on it. And they will know when they see/understand the torture who (is) more misguided a way/path .

Tafsir jalalayn
Indeed (in, softened in place of the hardened form, with its subject omitted, namely, innahu) he was about to lead us astray, turn us away, from our gods, had we not stood by them', he would have turned us away from them. God, exalted be He, says; And soon they will know, when they behold the chastisement, with their own eyes in the Hereafter, who is further astray from the way, who is further upon the path of error; they or the believers?
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ الِهَتِنَا
He would have nearly misled us from our gods,
They meant;`he nearly turned us away from worshipping idols, and he would have done so, had we not been patient and persevered in our ways.'
لَوْلَا أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا
had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!"
So Allah said, warning and threatening them;
وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ
And they will know, when they see the torment...
مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلً
who it is that is most astray from the path!
They took Their Desires as their gods and were more astray than Cattle
Then Allah tells His Prophet that if Allah decrees that someone will be misguided and wretched, then no one can guide him except Allah, glory be to Him
