Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Furqan Verse 13

Al-Furqan [25]: 13 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَاِذَآ اُلْقُوْا مِنْهَا مَكَانًا ضَيِّقًا مُّقَرَّنِيْنَ دَعَوْا هُنَالِكَ ثُبُوْرًا ۗ (الفرقان : ٢٥)

wa-idhā
وَإِذَآ
And when

أُلْقُوا۟
they are thrown

مَكَانًا
(in) a place
ḍayyiqan
ضَيِّقًا
narrow
muqarranīna
مُّقَرَّنِينَ
bound in chains
daʿaw
دَعَوْا۟
they will call
hunālika
هُنَالِكَ

thubūran
ثُبُورًا
(for) destruction

Transliteration:

Wa izaaa ulqoo minhaa makaanan daiyiqam muqar raneena da'aw hunaalika subooraa (QS. al-Furq̈ān:13)

English / Sahih Translation:

And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein bound in chains, they will cry out thereupon for destruction. (QS. Al-Furqan, ayah 13)

Tafsir jalalayn

And when they are flung into a narrow place thereof (read dayyiqan or dayqan, `narrow', such that it constricts them; minh, `thereof', is a circumstantial qualifier referring to maknan, `place', because it is actually an adjectival qualification of it) bound together, shackled, with their hands bound to their necks in chains (the use of the intensive form muqarranna [as opposed to muqranna] is meant to indicate a large number), they will at that point pray for [their own] annihilation, and it will be said to them;

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَإِذَا أُلْقُوا مِنْهَا مَكَانًا ضَيِّقًا مُقَرَّنِينَ

And when they shall be thrown into a narrow place thereof, chained together,

Qatadah narrated from Abu Ayyub that Abdullah bin `Amr said;

"Like the point of a spear, i.e., in its narrowness."

Abu Salih said,
مُقَرَّنِينَ
(chained together),

"This means, tied from their shoulders."

دَعَوْا هُنَالِكَ ثُبُورًا



they will exclaim therein for destruction.

means, they will utter cries of woe, regret and sorrow.

لَاا تَدْعُوا الْيَوْمَ ثُبُورًا وَاحِدًا وَادْعُوا ثُبُورًا كَثِيرًا
