Surah Al-Furqan - Page: 5

(The Criterion)

41

وَاِذَا رَاَوْكَ اِنْ يَّتَّخِذُوْنَكَ اِلَّا هُزُوًاۗ اَهٰذَا الَّذِيْ بَعَثَ اللّٰهُ رَسُوْلًا ٤١

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
ra-awka
رَأَوْكَ
they see you
in
إِن
not
yattakhidhūnaka
يَتَّخِذُونَكَ
they take you
illā
إِلَّا
except
huzuwan
هُزُوًا
(in) mockery
ahādhā
أَهَٰذَا
"Is this
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
the one whom
baʿatha
بَعَثَ
Allah has sent
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has sent
rasūlan
رَسُولًا
(as) a Messenger?
And when they see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger? (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 41)
Tafsir
42

اِنْ كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ اٰلِهَتِنَا لَوْلَآ اَنْ صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَاۗ وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُوْنَ حِيْنَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ مَنْ اَضَلُّ سَبِيْلًا ٤٢

in
إِن
He would have almost
kāda
كَادَ
He would have almost
layuḍillunā
لَيُضِلُّنَا
[surely] misled us
ʿan
عَنْ
from
ālihatinā
ءَالِهَتِنَا
our gods
lawlā
لَوْلَآ
if not
an
أَن
that
ṣabarnā
صَبَرْنَا
we had been steadfast
ʿalayhā
عَلَيْهَاۚ
to them"
wasawfa
وَسَوْفَ
And soon
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
will know
ḥīna
حِينَ
when
yarawna
يَرَوْنَ
they will see
l-ʿadhāba
ٱلْعَذَابَ
the punishment
man
مَنْ
who
aḍallu
أَضَلُّ
(is) more astray
sabīlan
سَبِيلًا
(from the) way
He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 42)
Tafsir
43

اَرَءَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰهَهٗ هَوٰىهُۗ اَفَاَنْتَ تَكُوْنُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيْلًا ۙ ٤٣

ara-ayta
أَرَءَيْتَ
Have you seen
mani
مَنِ
(one) who
ittakhadha
ٱتَّخَذَ
takes
ilāhahu
إِلَٰهَهُۥ
(as) his god
hawāhu
هَوَىٰهُ
his own desire?
afa-anta
أَفَأَنتَ
Then would you
takūnu
تَكُونُ
be
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
over him
wakīlan
وَكِيلًا
a guardian?
Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him? (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 43)
Tafsir
44

اَمْ تَحْسَبُ اَنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُوْنَ اَوْ يَعْقِلُوْنَۗ اِنْ هُمْ اِلَّا كَالْاَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ اَضَلُّ سَبِيْلًا ࣖ ٤٤

am
أَمْ
Or
taḥsabu
تَحْسَبُ
do you think
anna
أَنَّ
that
aktharahum
أَكْثَرَهُمْ
most of them
yasmaʿūna
يَسْمَعُونَ
hear
aw
أَوْ
or
yaʿqilūna
يَعْقِلُونَۚ
understand?
in
إِنْ
Not
hum
هُمْ
they
illā
إِلَّا
(are) except
kal-anʿāmi
كَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِۖ
like cattle
bal
بَلْ
Nay
hum
هُمْ
they
aḍallu
أَضَلُّ
(are) more astray
sabīlan
سَبِيلًا
(from the) way
Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 44)
Tafsir
45

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّۚ وَلَوْ شَاۤءَ لَجَعَلَهٗ سَاكِنًاۚ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيْلًا ۙ ٤٥

alam
أَلَمْ
Do you not
tara
تَرَ
see
ilā
إِلَىٰ
[to]
rabbika
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
kayfa
كَيْفَ
how
madda
مَدَّ
He extends
l-ẓila
ٱلظِّلَّ
the shadow?
walaw
وَلَوْ
And if
shāa
شَآءَ
He willed
lajaʿalahu
لَجَعَلَهُۥ
surely He (could) have made it
sākinan
سَاكِنًا
stationary
thumma
ثُمَّ
Then
jaʿalnā
جَعَلْنَا
We made
l-shamsa
ٱلشَّمْسَ
the sun
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
for it
dalīlan
دَلِيلًا
an indication
Have you not considered your Lord – how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 45)
Tafsir
46

ثُمَّ قَبَضْنٰهُ اِلَيْنَا قَبْضًا يَّسِيْرًا ٤٦

thumma
ثُمَّ
Then
qabaḍnāhu
قَبَضْنَٰهُ
We withdraw it
ilaynā
إِلَيْنَا
to Us
qabḍan
قَبْضًا
a withdrawal
yasīran
يَسِيرًا
gradual
Then We [retract and] hold it with Us for a brief grasp. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 46)
Tafsir
47

وَهُوَ الَّذِيْ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا وَّالنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَّجَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُوْرًا ٤٧

wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
jaʿala
جَعَلَ
made
lakumu
لَكُمُ
for you
al-layla
ٱلَّيْلَ
the night
libāsan
لِبَاسًا
(as) a covering
wal-nawma
وَٱلنَّوْمَ
and the sleep
subātan
سُبَاتًا
a rest
wajaʿala
وَجَعَلَ
and made
l-nahāra
ٱلنَّهَارَ
the day
nushūran
نُشُورًا
a resurrection
And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing and sleep [a means for] rest and has made the day a resurrection. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 47)
Tafsir
48

وَهُوَ الَّذِيْٓ اَرْسَلَ الرِّيٰحَ بُشْرًاۢ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهٖۚ وَاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءً طَهُوْرًا ۙ ٤٨

wahuwa
وَهُوَ
And He
alladhī
ٱلَّذِىٓ
(is) the One Who
arsala
أَرْسَلَ
sends
l-riyāḥa
ٱلرِّيَٰحَ
the winds
bush'ran
بُشْرًۢا
(as) glad tidings
bayna
بَيْنَ
before
yaday
يَدَىْ
before
raḥmatihi
رَحْمَتِهِۦۚ
His Mercy
wa-anzalnā
وَأَنزَلْنَا
and We send down
mina
مِنَ
from
l-samāi
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
māan
مَآءً
water
ṭahūran
طَهُورًا
pure
And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy [i.e., rainfall], and We send down from the sky pure water. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 48)
Tafsir
49

لِّنُحْيِ َۧ بِهٖ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًا وَّنُسْقِيَهٗ مِمَّا خَلَقْنَآ اَنْعَامًا وَّاَنَاسِيَّ كَثِيْرًا ٤٩

linuḥ'yiya
لِّنُحْۦِىَ
That We may give life
bihi
بِهِۦ
thereby
baldatan
بَلْدَةً
(to) a land
maytan
مَّيْتًا
dead
wanus'qiyahu
وَنُسْقِيَهُۥ
and We give drink
mimmā
مِمَّا
thereof
khalaqnā
خَلَقْنَآ
(to those) We created
anʿāman
أَنْعَٰمًا
cattle
wa-anāsiyya
وَأَنَاسِىَّ
and men
kathīran
كَثِيرًا
many
That We may bring to life thereby a dead land and give it as drink to those We created of numerous livestock and men. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 49)
Tafsir
50

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنٰهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوْاۖ فَاَبٰىٓ اَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ اِلَّا كُفُوْرًا ٥٠

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And verily
ṣarrafnāhu
صَرَّفْنَٰهُ
We have distributed it
baynahum
بَيْنَهُمْ
among them
liyadhakkarū
لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟
that they may remember
fa-abā
فَأَبَىٰٓ
but refuse
aktharu
أَكْثَرُ
most
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
(of) the people
illā
إِلَّا
except
kufūran
كُفُورًا
disbelief
And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded, but most of the people refuse except disbelief. (QS. [25] Al-Furqan: 50)
