(The Light)

51

اِنَّمَا كَانَ قَوْلَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ اِذَا دُعُوْٓا اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَرَسُوْلِهٖ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ اَنْ يَّقُوْلُوْا سَمِعْنَا وَاَطَعْنَاۗ وَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ ٥١

innamā
إِنَّمَا
Only
kāna
كَانَ
is
qawla
قَوْلَ
(the) statement
l-mu'minīna
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
(of) the believers
idhā
إِذَا
when
duʿū
دُعُوٓا۟
they are called
ilā
إِلَى
to
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
warasūlihi
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
and His Messenger
liyaḥkuma
لِيَحْكُمَ
to judge
baynahum
بَيْنَهُمْ
between them
an
أَن
(is) that
yaqūlū
يَقُولُوا۟
they say
samiʿ'nā
سَمِعْنَا
"We hear
wa-aṭaʿnā
وَأَطَعْنَاۚ
and we obey"
wa-ulāika
وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
And those
humu
هُمُ
[they]
l-muf'liḥūna
ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
(are) the successful
The only statement of the [true] believers when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to judge between them is that they say, "We hear and we obey." And those are the successful. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 51)
Tafsir
52

وَمَنْ يُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوْلَهٗ وَيَخْشَ اللّٰهَ وَيَتَّقْهِ فَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْفَاۤىِٕزُوْنَ ٥٢

waman
وَمَن
And whoever
yuṭiʿi
يُطِعِ
obeys
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
warasūlahu
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His Messenger
wayakhsha
وَيَخْشَ
and fears
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
wayattaqhi
وَيَتَّقْهِ
and (is) conscious of Him
fa-ulāika
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
then those
humu
هُمُ
[they]
l-fāizūna
ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ
(are) the successful ones
And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger and fears Allah and is conscious of Him – it is those who are the attainers. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 52)
Tafsir
53

۞ وَاَقْسَمُوْا بِاللّٰهِ جَهْدَ اَيْمَانِهِمْ لَىِٕنْ اَمَرْتَهُمْ لَيَخْرُجُنَّۗ قُلْ لَّا تُقْسِمُوْاۚ طَاعَةٌ مَّعْرُوْفَةٌ ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ خَبِيْرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ ٥٣

wa-aqsamū
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟
And they swear
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
by Allah
jahda
جَهْدَ
strong
aymānihim
أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ
their oaths
la-in
لَئِنْ
that if
amartahum
أَمَرْتَهُمْ
you ordered them
layakhrujunna
لَيَخْرُجُنَّۖ
surely they (would) go forth
qul
قُل
Say
لَّا
"(Do) not
tuq'simū
تُقْسِمُوا۟ۖ
swear
ṭāʿatun
طَاعَةٌ
Obedience
maʿrūfatun
مَّعْرُوفَةٌۚ
(is) known
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
khabīrun
خَبِيرٌۢ
(is) All-Aware
bimā
بِمَا
of what
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do"
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if you ordered them, they would go forth [in Allah's cause]. Say, "Do not swear. [Such] obedience is known. Indeed, Allah is [fully] Aware of that which you do." (QS. [24] An-Nur: 53)
Tafsir
54

قُلْ اَطِيْعُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيْعُوا الرَّسُوْلَۚ فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ مَّا حُمِّلْتُمْۗ وَاِنْ تُطِيْعُوْهُ تَهْتَدُوْاۗ وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُوْلِ اِلَّا الْبَلٰغُ الْمُبِيْنُ ٥٤

qul
قُلْ
Say
aṭīʿū
أَطِيعُوا۟
"Obey
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
wa-aṭīʿū
وَأَطِيعُوا۟
and obey
l-rasūla
ٱلرَّسُولَۖ
the Messenger
fa-in
فَإِن
but if
tawallaw
تَوَلَّوْا۟
you turn away
fa-innamā
فَإِنَّمَا
then only
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
upon him
مَا
(is) what
ḥummila
حُمِّلَ
(is) placed on him
waʿalaykum
وَعَلَيْكُم
and on you
مَّا
(is) what
ḥummil'tum
حُمِّلْتُمْۖ
(is) placed on you
wa-in
وَإِن
And if
tuṭīʿūhu
تُطِيعُوهُ
you obey him
tahtadū
تَهْتَدُوا۟ۚ
you will be guided
wamā
وَمَا
And not
ʿalā
عَلَى
(is) on
l-rasūli
ٱلرَّسُولِ
the Messenger
illā
إِلَّا
except
l-balāghu
ٱلْبَلَٰغُ
the conveyance
l-mubīnu
ٱلْمُبِينُ
[the] clear"
Say, "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away – then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification." (QS. [24] An-Nur: 54)
Tafsir
55

وَعَدَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مِنْكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ فِى الْاَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْۖ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِيْنَهُمُ الَّذِى ارْتَضٰى لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُمْ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ اَمْنًاۗ يَعْبُدُوْنَنِيْ لَا يُشْرِكُوْنَ بِيْ شَيْـًٔاۗ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ فَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْفٰسِقُوْنَ ٥٥

وَعَدَ
Allah (has) promised
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (has) promised
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
minkum
مِنكُمْ
among you
waʿamilū
وَعَمِلُوا۟
and do
l-ṣāliḥāti
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
righteous deeds
layastakhlifannahum
لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ
surely He will grant them succession
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
kamā
كَمَا
as
is'takhlafa
ٱسْتَخْلَفَ
He gave succession
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
to those who
min
مِن
(were) before them
qablihim
قَبْلِهِمْ
(were) before them
walayumakkinanna
وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ
and that He will surely establish
lahum
لَهُمْ
for them
dīnahumu
دِينَهُمُ
their religion
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
which
ir'taḍā
ٱرْتَضَىٰ
He has approved
lahum
لَهُمْ
for them
walayubaddilannahum
وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم
and surely He will change for them
min
مِّنۢ
after
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
after
khawfihim
خَوْفِهِمْ
their fear
amnan
أَمْنًاۚ
security
yaʿbudūnanī
يَعْبُدُونَنِى
(for) they worship Me
لَا
not
yush'rikūna
يُشْرِكُونَ
they associate
بِى
with Me
shayan
شَيْـًٔاۚ
anything
waman
وَمَن
But whoever
kafara
كَفَرَ
disbelieved
baʿda
بَعْدَ
after
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
fa-ulāika
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
then those
humu
هُمُ
[they]
l-fāsiqūna
ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ
(are) the defiantly disobedient
Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that – then those are the defiantly disobedient. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 55)
Tafsir
56

وَاَقِيْمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَ وَاَطِيْعُوا الرَّسُوْلَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُوْنَ ٥٦

wa-aqīmū
وَأَقِيمُوا۟
And establish
l-ṣalata
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
waātū
وَءَاتُوا۟
and give
l-zakata
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
zakah
wa-aṭīʿū
وَأَطِيعُوا۟
and obey
l-rasūla
ٱلرَّسُولَ
the Messenger
laʿallakum
لَعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
tur'ḥamūna
تُرْحَمُونَ
receive mercy
And establish prayer and give Zakah and obey the Messenger – that you may receive mercy. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 56)
Tafsir
57

لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا مُعْجِزِيْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِۚ وَمَأْوٰىهُمُ النَّارُۗ وَلَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيْرُ ࣖ ٥٧

لَا
(Do) not
taḥsabanna
تَحْسَبَنَّ
think
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
kafarū
كَفَرُوا۟
disbelieve
muʿ'jizīna
مُعْجِزِينَ
(can) escape
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِۚ
the earth
wamawāhumu
وَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ
And their abode
l-nāru
ٱلنَّارُۖ
(will be) the Fire
walabi'sa
وَلَبِئْسَ
and wretched is
l-maṣīru
ٱلْمَصِيرُ
the destination
Never think that the disbelievers are causing failure [to Allah] upon the earth. Their refuge will be the Fire – and how wretched the destination. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 57)
Tafsir
58

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لِيَسْتَأْذِنْكُمُ الَّذِيْنَ مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ وَالَّذِيْنَ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحُلُمَ مِنْكُمْ ثَلٰثَ مَرّٰتٍۗ مِنْ قَبْلِ صَلٰوةِ الْفَجْرِ وَحِيْنَ تَضَعُوْنَ ثِيَابَكُمْ مِّنَ الظَّهِيْرَةِ وَمِنْۢ بَعْدِ صَلٰوةِ الْعِشَاۤءِۗ ثَلٰثُ عَوْرٰتٍ لَّكُمْۗ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَا عَلَيْهِمْ جُنَاحٌۢ بَعْدَهُنَّۗ طَوَّافُوْنَ عَلَيْكُمْ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍۗ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمُ الْاٰيٰتِۗ وَاللّٰهُ عَلِيْمٌ حَكِيْمٌ ٥٨

yāayyuhā
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you who believe!
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
O you who believe!
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
O you who believe!
liyastadhinkumu
لِيَسْتَـْٔذِنكُمُ
Let ask your permission
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those whom
malakat
مَلَكَتْ
possess
aymānukum
أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ
your right hands
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
lam
لَمْ
(have) not
yablughū
يَبْلُغُوا۟
reached
l-ḥuluma
ٱلْحُلُمَ
puberty
minkum
مِنكُمْ
among you
thalātha
ثَلَٰثَ
(at) three
marrātin
مَرَّٰتٍۚ
times
min
مِّن
before
qabli
قَبْلِ
before
ṣalati
صَلَوٰةِ
(the) prayer
l-fajri
ٱلْفَجْرِ
(of) dawn
waḥīna
وَحِينَ
and when
taḍaʿūna
تَضَعُونَ
you put aside
thiyābakum
ثِيَابَكُم
your garments
mina
مِّنَ
at
l-ẓahīrati
ٱلظَّهِيرَةِ
noon
wamin
وَمِنۢ
and after
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
and after
ṣalati
صَلَوٰةِ
(the) prayer
l-ʿishāi
ٱلْعِشَآءِۚ
(of) night
thalāthu
ثَلَٰثُ
(These) three
ʿawrātin
عَوْرَٰتٍ
(are) times of privacy
lakum
لَّكُمْۚ
for you
laysa
لَيْسَ
Not
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
on you
walā
وَلَا
and not
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
on them
junāḥun
جُنَاحٌۢ
any blame
baʿdahunna
بَعْدَهُنَّۚ
after that
ṭawwāfūna
طَوَّٰفُونَ
(as) moving about
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُم
among you
baʿḍukum
بَعْضُكُمْ
some of you
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
among
baʿḍin
بَعْضٍۚ
others
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
yubayyinu
يُبَيِّنُ
Allah makes clear
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah makes clear
lakumu
لَكُمُ
for you
l-āyāti
ٱلْءَايَٰتِۗ
the Verses
wal-lahu
وَٱللَّهُ
and Allah
ʿalīmun
عَلِيمٌ
(is) All-Knower
ḥakīmun
حَكِيمٌ
All-Wise
O you who have believed, let those whom your right hands possess and those who have not [yet] reached puberty among you ask permission of you [before entering] at three times: before the dawn prayer and when you put aside your clothing [for rest] at noon and after the night prayer. [These are] three times of privacy for you. There is no blame upon you nor upon them beyond these [periods], for they continually circulate among you – some of you, among others. Thus does Allah make clear to you the verses [i.e., His ordinances]; and Allah is Knowing and Wise. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 58)
Tafsir
59

وَاِذَا بَلَغَ الْاَطْفَالُ مِنْكُمُ الْحُلُمَ فَلْيَسْتَأْذِنُوْا كَمَا اسْتَأْذَنَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْۗ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ اٰيٰتِهٖۗ وَاللّٰهُ عَلِيْمٌ حَكِيْمٌ ٥٩

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
balagha
بَلَغَ
reach
l-aṭfālu
ٱلْأَطْفَٰلُ
the children
minkumu
مِنكُمُ
among you
l-ḥuluma
ٱلْحُلُمَ
the puberty
falyastadhinū
فَلْيَسْتَـْٔذِنُوا۟
then let them ask permission
kamā
كَمَا
as
is'tadhana
ٱسْتَـْٔذَنَ
asked permission
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
min
مِن
(were) before them
qablihim
قَبْلِهِمْۚ
(were) before them
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
yubayyinu
يُبَيِّنُ
Allah makes clear
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah makes clear
lakum
لَكُمْ
for you
āyātihi
ءَايَٰتِهِۦۗ
His Verses
wal-lahu
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
ʿalīmun
عَلِيمٌ
(is) All-Knower
ḥakīmun
حَكِيمٌ
All-Wise
And when the children among you reach puberty, let them ask permission [at all times] as those before them have done. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses; and Allah is Knowing and Wise. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 59)
Tafsir
60

وَالْقَوَاعِدُ مِنَ النِّسَاۤءِ الّٰتِيْ لَا يَرْجُوْنَ نِكَاحًا فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ جُنَاحٌ اَنْ يَّضَعْنَ ثِيَابَهُنَّ غَيْرَ مُتَبَرِّجٰتٍۢ بِزِيْنَةٍۗ وَاَنْ يَّسْتَعْفِفْنَ خَيْرٌ لَّهُنَّۗ وَاللّٰهُ سَمِيْعٌ عَلِيْمٌ ٦٠

wal-qawāʿidu
وَٱلْقَوَٰعِدُ
And postmenopausal
mina
مِنَ
among
l-nisāi
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
the women
allātī
ٱلَّٰتِى
who
لَا
(do) not
yarjūna
يَرْجُونَ
have desire
nikāḥan
نِكَاحًا
(for) marriage
falaysa
فَلَيْسَ
then not is
ʿalayhinna
عَلَيْهِنَّ
on them
junāḥun
جُنَاحٌ
any blame
an
أَن
that
yaḍaʿna
يَضَعْنَ
they put aside
thiyābahunna
ثِيَابَهُنَّ
their (outer) garments
ghayra
غَيْرَ
not
mutabarrijātin
مُتَبَرِّجَٰتٍۭ
displaying
bizīnatin
بِزِينَةٍۖ
their adornment
wa-an
وَأَن
And that
yastaʿfif'na
يَسْتَعْفِفْنَ
they modestly refrain
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(is) better
lahunna
لَّهُنَّۗ
for them
wal-lahu
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
samīʿun
سَمِيعٌ
(is) All-Hearer
ʿalīmun
عَلِيمٌ
All-Knower
And women of post-menstrual age who have no desire for marriage – there is no blame upon them for putting aside their outer garments [but] not displaying adornment. But to modestly refrain [from that] is better for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. (QS. [24] An-Nur: 60)
