71
وَلَوِ اتَّبَعَ الْحَقُّ اَهْوَاۤءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ السَّمٰوٰتُ وَالْاَرْضُ وَمَنْ فِيْهِنَّۗ بَلْ اَتَيْنٰهُمْ بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِهِمْ مُّعْرِضُوْنَ ۗ ٧١
- walawi
- وَلَوِ
- But if
- ittabaʿa
- ٱتَّبَعَ
- (had) followed
- l-ḥaqu
- ٱلْحَقُّ
- the truth
- ahwāahum
- أَهْوَآءَهُمْ
- their desires
- lafasadati
- لَفَسَدَتِ
- surely (would) have been corrupted
- l-samāwātu
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ
- the heavens
- wal-arḍu
- وَٱلْأَرْضُ
- and the earth
- waman
- وَمَن
- and whoever
- fīhinna
- فِيهِنَّۚ
- (is) therein
- bal
- بَلْ
- Nay
- ataynāhum
- أَتَيْنَٰهُم
- We have brought them
- bidhik'rihim
- بِذِكْرِهِمْ
- their reminder
- fahum
- فَهُمْ
- but they
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- dhik'rihim
- ذِكْرِهِم
- their reminder
- muʿ'riḍūna
- مُّعْرِضُونَ
- (are) turning away
But if the Truth [i.e., Allah] had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 71)Tafsir
72
اَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ خَرْجًا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ ۖوَّهُوَ خَيْرُ الرّٰزِقِيْنَ ٧٢
- am
- أَمْ
- Or
- tasaluhum
- تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ
- you ask them
- kharjan
- خَرْجًا
- (for) a payment?
- fakharāju
- فَخَرَاجُ
- But the payment
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- (of) your Lord
- khayrun
- خَيْرٌۖ
- (is) best
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- and He
- khayru
- خَيْرُ
- (is) the Best
- l-rāziqīna
- ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
- (of) the Providers
Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 72)Tafsir
73
وَاِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوْهُمْ اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ ٧٣
- wa-innaka
- وَإِنَّكَ
- And indeed you
- latadʿūhum
- لَتَدْعُوهُمْ
- certainly call them
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- ṣirāṭin
- صِرَٰطٍ
- (the) Path
- mus'taqīmin
- مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
- Straight
And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 73)Tafsir
74
وَاِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ لَنَاكِبُوْنَ ٧٤
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- And indeed
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yu'minūna
- يُؤْمِنُونَ
- believe
- bil-ākhirati
- بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- in the Hereafter
- ʿani
- عَنِ
- from
- l-ṣirāṭi
- ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
- the path
- lanākibūna
- لَنَٰكِبُونَ
- surely (are) deviating
But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 74)Tafsir
75
۞ وَلَوْ رَحِمْنٰهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِمْ مِّنْ ضُرٍّ لَّلَجُّوْا فِيْ طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُوْنَ ٧٥
- walaw
- وَلَوْ
- And if
- raḥim'nāhum
- رَحِمْنَٰهُمْ
- We had mercy on them
- wakashafnā
- وَكَشَفْنَا
- and We removed
- mā
- مَا
- what
- bihim
- بِهِم
- (was) on them
- min
- مِّن
- of
- ḍurrin
- ضُرٍّ
- (the) hardship
- lalajjū
- لَّلَجُّوا۟
- surely they would persist
- fī
- فِى
- in
- ṭugh'yānihim
- طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ
- their transgression
- yaʿmahūna
- يَعْمَهُونَ
- wandering blindly
And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 75)Tafsir
76
وَلَقَدْ اَخَذْنٰهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوْا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُوْنَ ٧٦
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And verily
- akhadhnāhum
- أَخَذْنَٰهُم
- We seized them
- bil-ʿadhābi
- بِٱلْعَذَابِ
- with the punishment
- famā
- فَمَا
- but not
- is'takānū
- ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟
- they submit
- lirabbihim
- لِرَبِّهِمْ
- to their Lord
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- yataḍarraʿūna
- يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
- they supplicate humbly
And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 76)Tafsir
77
حَتّٰٓى اِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابًا ذَا عَذَابٍ شَدِيْدٍ اِذَا هُمْ فِيْهِ مُبْلِسُوْنَ ࣖ ٧٧
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰٓ
- Until
- idhā
- إِذَا
- when
- fataḥnā
- فَتَحْنَا
- We opened
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِم
- for them
- bāban
- بَابًا
- a gate
- dhā
- ذَا
- of a punishment
- ʿadhābin
- عَذَابٍ
- of a punishment
- shadīdin
- شَدِيدٍ
- severe
- idhā
- إِذَا
- behold!
- hum
- هُمْ
- They
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- in it
- mub'lisūna
- مُبْلِسُونَ
- (will be in) despair
Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 77)Tafsir
78
وَهُوَ الَّذِيْٓ اَنْشَاَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْاَبْصَارَ وَالْاَفْـِٕدَةَۗ قَلِيْلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُوْنَ ٧٨
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- And He
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِىٓ
- (is) the One Who
- ansha-a
- أَنشَأَ
- produced
- lakumu
- لَكُمُ
- for you
- l-samʿa
- ٱلسَّمْعَ
- the hearing
- wal-abṣāra
- وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ
- and the sight
- wal-afidata
- وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَۚ
- and the feeling;
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- little
- mā
- مَّا
- (is) what
- tashkurūna
- تَشْكُرُونَ
- you give thanks
And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 78)Tafsir
79
وَهُوَ الَّذِيْ ذَرَاَكُمْ فِى الْاَرْضِ وَاِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُوْنَ ٧٩
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- And He
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- (is) the One Who
- dhara-akum
- ذَرَأَكُمْ
- multiplied you
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- wa-ilayhi
- وَإِلَيْهِ
- and to Him
- tuḥ'sharūna
- تُحْشَرُونَ
- you will be gathered
And it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 79)Tafsir
80
وَهُوَ الَّذِيْ يُحْيٖ وَيُمِيْتُ وَلَهُ اخْتِلَافُ الَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِۗ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ ٨٠
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- And He
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- (is) the One Who
- yuḥ'yī
- يُحْىِۦ
- gives life
- wayumītu
- وَيُمِيتُ
- and causes death
- walahu
- وَلَهُ
- and for Him
- ikh'tilāfu
- ٱخْتِلَٰفُ
- (is the) alternation
- al-layli
- ٱلَّيْلِ
- (of) the night
- wal-nahāri
- وَٱلنَّهَارِۚ
- and the day
- afalā
- أَفَلَا
- Then will not
- taʿqilūna
- تَعْقِلُونَ
- you reason?
And it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason? (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 80)Tafsir
