Surah Al-Mu'minun - Page: 7

(The Believers)

61

اُولٰۤىِٕكَ يُسَارِعُوْنَ فِى الْخَيْرٰتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سٰبِقُوْنَ ٦١

ulāika
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
(It is) those
yusāriʿūna
يُسَٰرِعُونَ
who hasten
فِى
in
l-khayrāti
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
the good (deeds)
wahum
وَهُمْ
and they
lahā
لَهَا
in them
sābiqūna
سَٰبِقُونَ
(are) foremost
It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 61)
Tafsir
62

وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا اِلَّا وُسْعَهَاۖ وَلَدَيْنَا كِتٰبٌ يَّنْطِقُ بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُوْنَ ٦٢

walā
وَلَا
And not
nukallifu
نُكَلِّفُ
We burden
nafsan
نَفْسًا
any soul
illā
إِلَّا
except
wus'ʿahā
وُسْعَهَاۖ
(to) its capacity
waladaynā
وَلَدَيْنَا
and with Us
kitābun
كِتَٰبٌ
(is) a Record
yanṭiqu
يَنطِقُ
(which) speaks
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّۚ
with the truth;
wahum
وَهُمْ
and they
لَا
(will) not
yuẓ'lamūna
يُظْلَمُونَ
be wronged
And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 62)
Tafsir
63

بَلْ قُلُوْبُهُمْ فِيْ غَمْرَةٍ مِّنْ هٰذَا وَلَهُمْ اَعْمَالٌ مِّنْ دُوْنِ ذٰلِكَ هُمْ لَهَا عَامِلُوْنَ ٦٣

bal
بَلْ
Nay
qulūbuhum
قُلُوبُهُمْ
their hearts
فِى
(are) in
ghamratin
غَمْرَةٍ
confusion
min
مِّنْ
over
hādhā
هَٰذَا
this
walahum
وَلَهُمْ
and for them
aʿmālun
أَعْمَٰلٌ
(are) deeds
min
مِّن
besides
dūni
دُونِ
besides
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
hum
هُمْ
they
lahā
لَهَا
for it
ʿāmilūna
عَٰمِلُونَ
(are) doers
But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides that [i.e., disbelief] which they are doing, (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 63)
Tafsir
64

حَتّٰٓى اِذَآ اَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيْهِمْ بِالْعَذَابِ اِذَا هُمْ يَجْـَٔرُوْنَ ۗ ٦٤

ḥattā
حَتَّىٰٓ
Until
idhā
إِذَآ
when
akhadhnā
أَخَذْنَا
We seize
mut'rafīhim
مُتْرَفِيهِم
their affluent ones
bil-ʿadhābi
بِٱلْعَذَابِ
with the punishment
idhā
إِذَا
behold!
hum
هُمْ
They
yajarūna
يَجْـَٔرُونَ
cry for help
Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 64)
Tafsir
65

لَا تَجْـَٔرُوا الْيَوْمَۖ اِنَّكُمْ مِّنَّا لَا تُنْصَرُوْنَ ٦٥

لَا
"(Do) not
tajarū
تَجْـَٔرُوا۟
cry for help
l-yawma
ٱلْيَوْمَۖ
today
innakum
إِنَّكُم
Indeed you
minnā
مِّنَّا
from Us
لَا
not
tunṣarūna
تُنصَرُونَ
will be helped
Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 65)
Tafsir
66

قَدْ كَانَتْ اٰيٰتِيْ تُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنْتُمْ عَلٰٓى اَعْقَابِكُمْ تَنْكِصُوْنَ ۙ ٦٦

qad
قَدْ
Verily
kānat
كَانَتْ
were
āyātī
ءَايَٰتِى
My Verses
tut'lā
تُتْلَىٰ
recited
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
to you
fakuntum
فَكُنتُمْ
but you used
ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
(to) on
aʿqābikum
أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ
your heels
tankiṣūna
تَنكِصُونَ
turn back
My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 66)
Tafsir
67

مُسْتَكْبِرِيْنَۙ بِهٖ سٰمِرًا تَهْجُرُوْنَ ٦٧

mus'takbirīna
مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ
(Being) arrogant
bihi
بِهِۦ
about it
sāmiran
سَٰمِرًا
conversing by night
tahjurūna
تَهْجُرُونَ
speaking evil"
In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 67)
Tafsir
68

اَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا الْقَوْلَ اَمْ جَاۤءَهُمْ مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ اٰبَاۤءَهُمُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ ۖ ٦٨

afalam
أَفَلَمْ
Then, do not
yaddabbarū
يَدَّبَّرُوا۟
they ponder
l-qawla
ٱلْقَوْلَ
the Word
am
أَمْ
or
jāahum
جَآءَهُم
has come to them
مَّا
what
lam
لَمْ
not
yati
يَأْتِ
(had) come
ābāahumu
ءَابَآءَهُمُ
(to) their forefathers?
l-awalīna
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
(to) their forefathers?
Then have they not reflected over the word [i.e., the Quran], or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 68)
Tafsir
69

اَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوْا رَسُوْلَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهٗ مُنْكِرُوْنَ ۖ ٦٩

am
أَمْ
Or
lam
لَمْ
(do) not
yaʿrifū
يَعْرِفُوا۟
they recognize
rasūlahum
رَسُولَهُمْ
their Messenger
fahum
فَهُمْ
so they
lahu
لَهُۥ
(are) rejecting him?
munkirūna
مُنكِرُونَ
(are) rejecting him?
Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging? (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 69)
Tafsir
70

اَمْ يَقُوْلُوْنَ بِهٖ جِنَّةٌ ۗ بَلْ جَاۤءَهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ وَاَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كٰرِهُوْنَ ٧٠

am
أَمْ
Or
yaqūlūna
يَقُولُونَ
they say
bihi
بِهِۦ
"In him
jinnatun
جِنَّةٌۢۚ
(is) madness?"
bal
بَلْ
Nay
jāahum
جَآءَهُم
he brought them
bil-ḥaqi
بِٱلْحَقِّ
the truth
wa-aktharuhum
وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ
but most of them
lil'ḥaqqi
لِلْحَقِّ
to the truth
kārihūna
كَٰرِهُونَ
(are) averse
Or do they say, "In him is madness"? Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse. (QS. [23] Al-Mu'minun: 70)
