Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hajj Verse 68

Al-Hajj [22]: 68 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَاِنْ جَادَلُوْكَ فَقُلِ اللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ (الحج : ٢٢)

wa-in
وَإِن
And if
jādalūka
جَٰدَلُوكَ
they argue (with) you
faquli
فَقُلِ
then say
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
"Allah
aʿlamu
أَعْلَمُ
(is) most knowing
bimā
بِمَا
of what
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do

Transliteration:

Wa in jaadalooka faqulil laahu a'lamu bimaa ta'maloon (QS. al-Ḥajj:68)

English / Sahih Translation:

And if they dispute with you, then say, "Allah is most knowing of what you do. (QS. Al-Hajj, ayah 68)

And if they dispute with you, say (to them), “Allah is the best aware of what you do.”

Tafsir jalalayn

And if they dispute with you, in the matter of religion, say, `God knows best what you do, and will requite you for it -- this was [revealed] before the command to fight [them].

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And if they argue with you, say;"Allah knows best what you do."

This is like the Ayah;

وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ أَنتُمْ بَرِييُونَ مِمَّأ أَعْمَلُ وَأَنَاْ بَرِىءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ

And if they belie you, say;"For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds! You are innocent of what I do, and I am innocent of what you do!" (10;41)

اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ


Allah knows best of what you do.

This is a stern warning and definite threat, as in the Ayah;

هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ كَفَى بِهِ شَهِيداً بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ

He knows best of what you say among yourselves concerning it! Sufficient is He as a witness between me and you! (46;8)

Allah says here;

اللَّهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ
