Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hajj Verse 54

Al-Hajj [22]: 54 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَّلِيَعْلَمَ الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْعِلْمَ اَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ فَيُؤْمِنُوْا بِهٖ فَتُخْبِتَ لَهٗ قُلُوْبُهُمْۗ وَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَهَادِ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ (الحج : ٢٢)

waliyaʿlama
وَلِيَعْلَمَ
And that may know
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ūtū
أُوتُوا۟
have been given
l-ʿil'ma
ٱلْعِلْمَ
the knowledge
annahu
أَنَّهُ
that it
l-ḥaqu
ٱلْحَقُّ
(is) the truth
min
مِن
from
rabbika
رَّبِّكَ
your Lord
fayu'minū
فَيُؤْمِنُوا۟
and they believe
bihi
بِهِۦ
in it
fatukh'bita
فَتُخْبِتَ
and may humbly submit
lahu
لَهُۥ
to it
qulūbuhum
قُلُوبُهُمْۗ
their hearts
wa-inna
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
lahādi
لَهَادِ
(is) surely (the) Guide
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوٓا۟
believe
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
ṣirāṭin
صِرَٰطٍ
a Path
mus'taqīmin
مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
Straight

Transliteration:

Wa liya'lamal lazeena ootul 'ilma annahul haqqu mir Rabbika fa yu'minoo bihee fatukhbita ahoo quloobuhum; wa innal laaha lahaadil lazeena aamanoo ilaa Siraatim Mustaqeem (QS. al-Ḥajj:54)

English / Sahih Translation:

And so those who were given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord and [therefore] believe in it, and their hearts humbly submit to it. And indeed is Allah the Guide of those who have believed to a straight path. (QS. Al-Hajj, ayah 54)

and so that those who have been given knowledge may know that it (i.e. the revelation recited by the prophet) is the truth from your Lord, and they may believe in it and their hearts may become humble towards it. Allah is the Guide of the believers to the straight path.

˹This is˺ also so that those gifted with knowledge would know that this ˹revelation˺ is the truth from your Lord, so they have faith in it, and so their hearts would submit humbly to it. And Allah surely guides the believers to the Straight Path.

(He also does this) in order that those endowed with knowledge may know that it is the Truth from your Lord and that they may have faith in it and their hearts may humble themselves before Him. Verily Allah always directs those that believe to the Right Way.

At the same time those who have been given knowledge may know that this is the truth from your Lord, and come to believe in it, and their hearts become submissive to Him. Verily God guides those who believe, to the even path.

And so that the people given the knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, in order that they may accept faith in it, therefore their hearts may humble before Him; and indeed Allah will guide the believers on the Straight Path.

[And also for the reason] that those who have been given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, and so they may have faith in it, and their hearts may be humbled before Him. Indeed Allah guides those who have faith to a straight path.

While those who have been granted knowledge (of the truth) know (with a greater certainty) that whatever God reveals is the truth itself, and they believe in it and their hearts submit to Him in utmost humility. God most certainly guides to a straight path those who believe with sincerity.

And (He permits this) so that those who have been given knowledge may know that this (Qur´ân) is the truth from your Lord and may believe in it and humble themselves before Him from their very hearts. And Allâh will indeed be the Guide of those who believe, to the straight and right path.

English Literal

And (for) those who were given/brought the knowledge to know that it (is) the truth from your Lord, so they believe with (in) it, so their hearts/minds became humble/tranquil to Him, and that truly God is guiding (E) those who believed to a straight/direct road/way .

And so that the people given the knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, in order that they may accept faith in it, therefore their hearts may humble before Him; and indeed Allah will guide the believers on the Straight Path.

That He may make that which Satan introduces a trial unto those in whose heart is a disease, and those whose heart are hardened - verily, the wrongdoers are in a wide schism -

and so that those to whom knowledge has been given will know that this is the truth from your Lord and so believe in it and that their hearts will be humble to Him. Indeed, Allah will surely guide those who believe to a Straight Path.

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it (this Qur'an) is the truth from your Lord, so that they may believe therein, and their hearts may submit to it with humility. And verily, Allah is the Guide of those who believe, to the straight path.

Wahiduddin Khan

so that those who are given knowledge may realize that this is the truth from your Lord and thus believe in it, and so that in their hearts they may humbly submit to Him. God will surely guide the faithful to a straight path.

Talal Itani

And so that those endowed with knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, and so believe in it, and their hearts soften to it. God guides those who believe to a straight path.

Tafsir jalalayn

And that those who have been given knowledge, [of] God's Oneness and the Qur'n, may know that it, the Qur'n, is the truth from your Lord, so that they may believe therein, and their hearts may find reassurance in it. And assuredly God guides those who believe to a straight path, [a straight] route, namely, the religion of Islam.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلِيَعْلَمَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَيُوْمِنُوا بِهِ

And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, so that they may believe therein,

means, `so that those who have been given beneficial knowledge with which they may differentiate between truth and falsehood, those who believe in Allah and His Messenger, may know that what We have revealed to you is the truth from your Lord, Who has revealed it by His knowledge and under His protection, and He will guard it from being mixed with anything else.' Indeed, it is the Wise Book which,

لااَّ يَأْتِيهِ الْبَـطِلُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ تَنزِيلٌ مِّنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍ

Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it, (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise (Allah). (41;42)

فَيُوْمِنُوا بِهِ
(so that they may believe therein),

means, that they may believe that it is true and act upon it.

فَتُخْبِتَ لَهُ قُلُوبُهُمْ

and their hearts may submit to it with humility.

means, that their hearts may humble themselves and accept it.

وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَهَادِ الَّذِينَ امَنُوا إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ



And verily, Allah is the Guide of those who believe, to the straight path.

means, in this world and in the Hereafter. In this world, He guides them to the truth and helps them to follow it and to resist and avoid falsehood; in the Hereafter, He will guide them to the straight path which leads to the degrees of Paradise, and He will save them from the painful torment and the dismal levels of Hell
