Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hajj Verse 4
Al-Hajj [22]: 4 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِ اَنَّهٗ مَنْ تَوَلَّاهُ فَاَنَّهٗ يُضِلُّهٗ وَيَهْدِيْهِ اِلٰى عَذَابِ السَّعِيْرِ (الحج : ٢٢)

- It has been decreed

- عَلَيْهِ
- for him
- annahu
- أَنَّهُۥ
- that he
- man
- مَن
- who
- tawallāhu
- تَوَلَّاهُ
- befriends him
- fa-annahu
- فَأَنَّهُۥ
- then indeed he
- yuḍilluhu
- يُضِلُّهُۥ
- will misguide him
- wayahdīhi
- وَيَهْدِيهِ
- and will guide him
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- ʿadhābi
- عَذَابِ
- (the) punishment

- ٱلسَّعِيرِ
- (of) the Blaze
Transliteration:
Kutiba 'alaihi annahoo man tawallaahu fa annahoo yudil lauhoo wa yahdeehi ilaa 'azaabis sa'eer(QS. al-Ḥajj:4)
English / Sahih Translation:
It has been decreed for him [i.e., every devil] that whoever turns to him – he will misguide him and will lead him to the punishment of the Blaze. (QS. Al-Hajj, ayah 4)

Tafsir jalalayn
about whom it has been decreed, in other words, it has been decreed with regards to a devil, that whoever takes him for a friend, that is, [whoever] follows him, he will make him go astray and will lead him, summon him, to the chastisement of the Blaze, namely, to the Fire.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِ
and follows every rebellious Shaytan. For him it is decreed,
Mujahid said,
"This refers to that Shaytan."
meaning that is a matter written in the decree.
أَنَّهُ مَن تَوَلاَّهُ
that whosoever follows him, (and imitates him),
فَأَنَّهُ يُضِلُّهُ وَيَهْدِيهِ إِلَى عَذَابِ
السَّعِيرِ
he will mislead him, and will drive him to the torment of the Fire.
means, he will mislead him in this world, and in the Hereafter he will drive him to the torment of the Fire, which is unbearably hot, painful and agonizing.
As-Suddi reported that Abu Malik said,
"This Ayah was revealed about An-Nadr bin Al-Harith."
This was also the view of Ibn Jurayj
