Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hajj Verse 35
Al-Hajj [22]: 35 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
الَّذِيْنَ اِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّٰهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوْبُهُمْ وَالصَّابِرِيْنَ عَلٰى مَآ اَصَابَهُمْ وَالْمُقِيْمِى الصَّلٰوةِۙ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنٰهُمْ يُنْفِقُوْنَ (الحج : ٢٢)

- ٱلَّذِينَ
- Those
- idhā
- إِذَا
- when
- dhukira
- ذُكِرَ
- is mentioned
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah -
- wajilat
- وَجِلَتْ
- fear
- qulūbuhum
- قُلُوبُهُمْ
- their hearts
- wal-ṣābirīna
- وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
- and those who are patient
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- over
- mā
- مَآ
- whatever
- aṣābahum
- أَصَابَهُمْ
- has afflicted them
- wal-muqīmī
- وَٱلْمُقِيمِى
- and those who establish
- l-ṣalati
- ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
- the prayer
- wamimmā
- وَمِمَّا
- and out of what
- razaqnāhum
- رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ
- We have provided them
- yunfiqūna
- يُنفِقُونَ
- they spend
Transliteration:
Allazeena izaa zukiral laahu wajilat quloobuhum wassaabireena 'alaa maaa asaabahum walmuqeemis Salaati wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yunfiqoon(QS. al-Ḥajj:35)
English / Sahih Translation:
Who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts are fearful, and [to] the patient over what has afflicted them, and the establishers of prayer and those who spend from what We have provided them. (QS. Al-Hajj, ayah 35)

English Literal
Those whom if God was mentioned their hearts/minds became afraid/apprehensive, and the patient on what struck them , and the keeping up the prayers, and from what We provided for them they spend.

Tafsir jalalayn
who, when God is mentioned, their hearts tremble, fear, and who endure [patiently] whatever may befall them, of ordeals, and who observe prayer, at its appointed times, and who, from that which We have provided them, expend, [from it] give voluntary alms.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ
Whose hearts are filled with fear when Allah is mentioned,
meaning, their hearts fear Him.
وَالصَّابِرِينَ عَلَى مَا أَصَابَهُمْ
and the patient who bear whatever may befall them,
meaning, of afflictions.
وَالْمُقِيمِي الصَّلَاةِ
and who perform the Salah,
they fulfill the duties which Allah has enjoined upon them, the duty of performing the obligatory prayers.
وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ
and who spend out of what We have provided for them.
the good provision which Allah has given them. They spend on their families and servants, and on the poor and needy; they treat people kindly while remaining within the limits set by Allah.
This is in contrast to the hypocrites, who are the opposite of all this, as we have discussed in the Tafsir of Surah Bara'ah;
