Instead, We launch the truth against falsehood, which gets it smashed, and in no time it is gone. Alas to you for what you describe!

English Literal

Rather We throw/hurl with the truth on the falsehood, so it nullifies/eliminates it (the falsehood), so then it(the falsehood) is vanishing/being destroyed , and for you (is) the grief/misfortune from what you describe/categorize.

Tafsir jalalayn

Nay, but We hurl, We cast, the truth, faith, against falsehood, disbelief, and it obliterates it, and behold, it vanishes, disappears (damaghahu, `it obliterates it', actually means `it struck the brain with a blow', [a blow] which is fatal). And for you, O disbelievers of Mecca, there shall be woe, severe chastisement, for what you ascribe, to God, of mate or child.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِالْحَقِّ عَلَى الْبَاطِلِ

Nay, We fling the truth against the falsehood,

means, `We explain the truth and thus defeat falsehood.'

Allah says;

فَيَدْمَغُهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ

so it destroys it, and behold, it disappears.

it is fading and vanishing.

وَلَكُمُ الْوَيْلُ

And woe to you!

O you who say that Allah has offspring.

مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ



for that which you ascribe.

that which you say and fabricate.

Then Allah informs of the servitude of the angels, and how they persevere in worship night and day;
