Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Anbya Verse 13
Al-Anbya [21]: 13 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
لَا تَرْكُضُوْا وَارْجِعُوْٓا اِلٰى مَآ اُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيْهِ وَمَسٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْـَٔلُوْنَ (الأنبياء : ٢١)

- Flee not
- tarkuḍū
- تَرْكُضُوا۟
- Flee not
- wa-ir'jiʿū
- وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟
- but return
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- mā
- مَآ
- what
- ut'rif'tum
- أُتْرِفْتُمْ
- you were given luxury
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- in it
- wamasākinikum
- وَمَسَٰكِنِكُمْ
- and to your homes
- laʿallakum
- لَعَلَّكُمْ
- so that you may
- tus'alūna
- تُسْـَٔلُونَ
- be questioned
Transliteration:
Laa tarkudoo warji'ooo ilaa maaa utriftum feehe wa masaakinikum la'allakum tus'aloon(QS. al-ʾAnbiyāʾ:13)
English / Sahih Translation:
[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes – perhaps you will be questioned." (QS. Al-Anbya, ayah 13)

(It was said to them,) “Do not flee, and go back to the luxuries you were made to enjoy, and to your dwellings. May be you are asked questions.”

Tafseer Ibn Kathir
لَاا تَرْكُضُوا وَارْجِعُوا إِلَى مَا أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَاكِنِكُمْ
Flee not, but return to that wherein you lived a luxurious life, and to your homes,
This is a way of ridiculing them.
It will be said to them by way of ridicule;"Do not run away from the coming torment; go back to the delights and luxuries and fine homes in which you were living."
Qatadah said,
"Mocking them."
لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْأَلُونَ
in order that you may be questioned.
about whether you gave thanks for what you had.
قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
