Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Anbya Verse 103

Al-Anbya [21]: 103 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ الْفَزَعُ الْاَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقّٰىهُمُ الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةُۗ هٰذَا يَوْمُكُمُ الَّذِيْ كُنْتُمْ تُوْعَدُوْنَ (الأنبياء : ٢١)

لَا
Not
yaḥzunuhumu
يَحْزُنُهُمُ
will grieve them
l-fazaʿu
ٱلْفَزَعُ
the terror
l-akbaru
ٱلْأَكْبَرُ
[the] greatest
watatalaqqāhumu
وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ
and will meet them
l-malāikatu
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
the Angels
hādhā
هَٰذَا
"This
yawmukumu
يَوْمُكُمُ
(is) your Day
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
which
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you were
tūʿadūna
تُوعَدُونَ
promised"

Transliteration:

Laa yahzunuhumul faza'ul akbaru wa tatalaq qaahumul malaaa'ikatu haazaa Yawmukumul lazee kuntum too'adoon (QS. al-ʾAnbiyāʾ:103)

English / Sahih Translation:

They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" – (QS. Al-Anbya, ayah 103)

They shall not be grieved by the Biggest Panic, and the angels shall receive them (saying), “This is your day that you had been promised”

The Supreme Horror ˹of that Day˺ will not disturb them, and the angels will greet them, ˹saying,˺ “This is your Day, which you have been promised.”

Even the greatest shock (of the second blowing of the Trumpet) will not cause them any worry, and the angels welcome them, with the greeting: "This is your day, the day which you were promised."

The great terror (of the Judgment Day) will cause them no grief and the angels will receive them (with the greetings), `This is your day which you were promised.´

English Literal

The fright/terror the greatest/biggest does not sadden/make them grievous, and the angels receive/meet them (and they are told): "This (is) your day/time which you are being promised."

The greatest fear will not aggrieve them, and the angels will welcome them; saying "This is your day, which you were promised."

They shall not hear the slightest sound of Hell, and they will dwell in what their souls desire.

The great Horror [of the Day of Judgement] shall not grieve them, and the angels will welcome them, saying, "This is your Day which you have been promised."

The Supreme Fear will not worry them, and the angels will receive them: “This is your Day which you were promised.”

Tafsir jalalayn

The Supreme Terror -- which is that a servant be ordered off to the Fire, shall not grieve them, and the angels shall receive them, upon their exiting from their graves, saying to them; `This is your day, the one which you were promised', during the [life of the] world.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

لَاا يَحْزُنُهُمُ الْفَزَعُ الاْاَكْبَرُ

The greatest terror will not grieve them,

It was said that;

this means death, as was narrated by Abdur-Razzaq from Yahya bin Rabi`ah from Ata.'

Or it was said that;

the greatest terror refers to the blast of the Trumpet, as Al-`Awfi said narrating from Ibn Abbas and Abu Sinan, Sa`id bin Sinan Ash-Shaybani.

This was the view favored by Ibn Jarir in his Tafsir.

وَتَتَلَقَّاهُمُ الْمَلَيِكَةُ هَذَا يَوْمُكُمُ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ



and the angels will meet them, (with the greeting;) "This is your Day which you were promised".

meaning, the angels will greet them on the Day of Resurrection when they emerge from their graves with the words;
هَذَا يَوْمُكُمُ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
("This is your Day which you were promised"),

meaning, hope for the best
