Surah Al-Anbya - Page: 7

(The Prophets)

61

قَالُوْا فَأْتُوْا بِهٖ عَلٰٓى اَعْيُنِ النَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُوْنَ ٦١

qālū
قَالُوا۟
They said
fatū
فَأْتُوا۟
"Then bring
bihi
بِهِۦ
him
ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
before
aʿyuni
أَعْيُنِ
(the) eyes
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
(of) the people
laʿallahum
لَعَلَّهُمْ
so that they may
yashhadūna
يَشْهَدُونَ
bear witness"
They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 61)
Tafsir
62

قَالُوْٓا ءَاَنْتَ فَعَلْتَ هٰذَا بِاٰلِهَتِنَا يٰٓاِبْرٰهِيْمُ ۗ ٦٢

qālū
قَالُوٓا۟
They said
a-anta
ءَأَنتَ
"Have you
faʿalta
فَعَلْتَ
done
hādhā
هَٰذَا
this
biālihatinā
بِـَٔالِهَتِنَا
to our gods
yāib'rāhīmu
يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
O Ibrahim?"
They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 62)
Tafsir
63

قَالَ بَلْ فَعَلَهٗ كَبِيْرُهُمْ هٰذَا فَسْـَٔلُوْهُمْ اِنْ كَانُوْا يَنْطِقُوْنَ ٦٣

qāla
قَالَ
He said
bal
بَلْ
"Nay
faʿalahu
فَعَلَهُۥ
(some doer) did it
kabīruhum
كَبِيرُهُمْ
Their chief
hādhā
هَٰذَا
(is) this
fasalūhum
فَسْـَٔلُوهُمْ
So ask them
in
إِن
if
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they (can)
yanṭiqūna
يَنطِقُونَ
speak"
He said, "Rather, this – the largest of them – did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 63)
Tafsir
64

فَرَجَعُوْٓا اِلٰٓى اَنْفُسِهِمْ فَقَالُوْٓا اِنَّكُمْ اَنْتُمُ الظّٰلِمُوْنَ ۙ ٦٤

farajaʿū
فَرَجَعُوٓا۟
So they returned
ilā
إِلَىٰٓ
to
anfusihim
أَنفُسِهِمْ
themselves
faqālū
فَقَالُوٓا۟
and said
innakum
إِنَّكُمْ
"Indeed you
antumu
أَنتُمُ
[you]
l-ẓālimūna
ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
(are) the wrongdoers"
So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 64)
Tafsir
65

ثُمَّ نُكِسُوْا عَلٰى رُءُوْسِهِمْۚ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ يَنْطِقُوْنَ ٦٥

thumma
ثُمَّ
Then
nukisū
نُكِسُوا۟
they were turned
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
on
ruūsihim
رُءُوسِهِمْ
their heads
laqad
لَقَدْ
"Verily
ʿalim'ta
عَلِمْتَ
you know
مَا
not
hāulāi
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
these
yanṭiqūna
يَنطِقُونَ
(can) speak!"
Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 65)
Tafsir
66

قَالَ اَفَتَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا يَنْفَعُكُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَّلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ ۗ ٦٦

qāla
قَالَ
He said
afataʿbudūna
أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ
"Then do you worship
min
مِن
besides
dūni
دُونِ
besides
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
مَا
what
لَا
(does) not
yanfaʿukum
يَنفَعُكُمْ
benefit you
shayan
شَيْـًٔا
(in) anything
walā
وَلَا
and not
yaḍurrukum
يَضُرُّكُمْ
harms you?
He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 66)
Tafsir
67

اُفٍّ لَّكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ ۗاَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ ٦٧

uffin
أُفٍّ
Uff
lakum
لَّكُمْ
to you
walimā
وَلِمَا
and to what
taʿbudūna
تَعْبُدُونَ
you worship
min
مِن
besides
dūni
دُونِ
besides
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۖ
Allah
afalā
أَفَلَا
Then will not
taʿqilūna
تَعْقِلُونَ
you use reason?"
Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 67)
Tafsir
68

قَالُوْا حَرِّقُوْهُ وَانْصُرُوْٓا اٰلِهَتَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ فٰعِلِيْنَ ٦٨

qālū
قَالُوا۟
They said
ḥarriqūhu
حَرِّقُوهُ
"Burn him
wa-unṣurū
وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟
and support
ālihatakum
ءَالِهَتَكُمْ
your gods
in
إِن
if
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you are
fāʿilīna
فَٰعِلِينَ
doers"
They said, "Burn him and support your gods – if you are to act." (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 68)
Tafsir
69

قُلْنَا يَا نَارُ كُوْنِيْ بَرْدًا وَّسَلٰمًا عَلٰٓى اِبْرٰهِيْمَ ۙ ٦٩

qul'nā
قُلْنَا
We said
yānāru
يَٰنَارُ
"O fire!
kūnī
كُونِى
Be
bardan
بَرْدًا
cool[ness]
wasalāman
وَسَلَٰمًا
and safe[ty]
ʿalā
عَلَىٰٓ
for
ib'rāhīma
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim"
We [i.e., Allah] said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 69)
Tafsir
70

وَاَرَادُوْا بِهٖ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنٰهُمُ الْاَخْسَرِيْنَ ۚ ٧٠

wa-arādū
وَأَرَادُوا۟
And they intended
bihi
بِهِۦ
for him
kaydan
كَيْدًا
a plan
fajaʿalnāhumu
فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ
but We made them
l-akhsarīna
ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ
the greatest losers
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the greatest losers. (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 70)
