اِقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِيْ غَفْلَةٍ مُّعْرِضُوْنَ ۚ ١
- iq'taraba
- ٱقْتَرَبَ
- (Has) approached
- lilnnāsi
- لِلنَّاسِ
- for [the] mankind
- ḥisābuhum
- حِسَابُهُمْ
- their account
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- fī
- فِى
- (are) in
- ghaflatin
- غَفْلَةٍ
- heedlessness
- muʿ'riḍūna
- مُّعْرِضُونَ
- turning away
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away. (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 1)Tafsir
مَا يَأْتِيْهِمْ مِّنْ ذِكْرٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ مُّحْدَثٍ اِلَّا اسْتَمَعُوْهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُوْنَ ۙ ٢

- مَا
- Not
- yatīhim
- يَأْتِيهِم
- comes to them
- min
- مِّن
- of
- dhik'rin
- ذِكْرٍ
- a Reminder
- min
- مِّن
- from
- rabbihim
- رَّبِّهِم
- their Lord
- muḥ'dathin
- مُّحْدَثٍ
- anew
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- is'tamaʿūhu
- ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ
- they listen to it
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- while they
- yalʿabūna
- يَلْعَبُونَ
- (are at) play
No mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 2)Tafsir
لَاهِيَةً قُلُوْبُهُمْۗ وَاَسَرُّوا النَّجْوَىۖ الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْاۖ هَلْ هٰذَآ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْۚ اَفَتَأْتُوْنَ السِّحْرَ وَاَنْتُمْ تُبْصِرُوْنَ ٣
- lāhiyatan
- لَاهِيَةً
- Distracted
- qulūbuhum
- قُلُوبُهُمْۗ
- their hearts
- wa-asarrū
- وَأَسَرُّوا۟
- And they conceal
- l-najwā
- ٱلنَّجْوَى
- the private conversation
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- ẓalamū
- ظَلَمُوا۟
- [they] wronged
- hal
- هَلْ
- "Is
- hādhā
- هَٰذَآ
- this
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- basharun
- بَشَرٌ
- a human being
- mith'lukum
- مِّثْلُكُمْۖ
- like you?
- afatatūna
- أَفَتَأْتُونَ
- So would you approach
- l-siḥ'ra
- ٱلسِّحْرَ
- the magic
- wa-antum
- وَأَنتُمْ
- while you
- tub'ṣirūna
- تُبْصِرُونَ
- see (it)?"
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 3)Tafsir
قٰلَ رَبِّيْ يَعْلَمُ الْقَوْلَ فِى السَّمَاۤءِ وَالْاَرْضِۖ وَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ ٤

- He said
- rabbī
- رَبِّى
- "My Lord
- yaʿlamu
- يَعْلَمُ
- knows
- l-qawla
- ٱلْقَوْلَ
- the word
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-samāi
- ٱلسَّمَآءِ
- the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ
- and the earth
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- And He
- l-samīʿu
- ٱلسَّمِيعُ
- (is) the All-Hearer
- l-ʿalīmu
- ٱلْعَلِيمُ
- the All-Knower"
He [the Prophet (^)] said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 4)Tafsir
بَلْ قَالُوْٓا اَضْغَاثُ اَحْلَامٍۢ بَلِ افْتَرٰىهُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌۚ فَلْيَأْتِنَا بِاٰيَةٍ كَمَآ اُرْسِلَ الْاَوَّلُوْنَ ٥
- bal
- بَلْ
- Nay
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- they say
- aḍghāthu
- أَضْغَٰثُ
- "Muddled
- aḥlāmin
- أَحْلَٰمٍۭ
- dreams;
- bali
- بَلِ
- nay
- if'tarāhu
- ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ
- he (has) invented it;
- bal
- بَلْ
- nay
- huwa
- هُوَ
- he
- shāʿirun
- شَاعِرٌ
- (is) a poet
- falyatinā
- فَلْيَأْتِنَا
- So let him bring us
- biāyatin
- بِـَٔايَةٍ
- a sign
- kamā
- كَمَآ
- like what
- ur'sila
- أُرْسِلَ
- was sent
- l-awalūna
- ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
- (to) the former"
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 5)Tafsir
مَآ اٰمَنَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ مِّنْ قَرْيَةٍ اَهْلَكْنٰهَاۚ اَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ ٦

- Not
- āmanat
- ءَامَنَتْ
- believed
- qablahum
- قَبْلَهُم
- before them
- min
- مِّن
- any
- qaryatin
- قَرْيَةٍ
- town
- ahlaknāhā
- أَهْلَكْنَٰهَآۖ
- which We destroyed
- afahum
- أَفَهُمْ
- so will they
- yu'minūna
- يُؤْمِنُونَ
- believe?
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 6)Tafsir
وَمَآ اَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ اِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوْحِيْٓ اِلَيْهِمْ فَسْـَٔلُوْٓا اَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ ٧
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And not
- arsalnā
- أَرْسَلْنَا
- We sent
- qablaka
- قَبْلَكَ
- before you
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- rijālan
- رِجَالًا
- men
- nūḥī
- نُّوحِىٓ
- We revealed
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِمْۖ
- to them
- fasalū
- فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟
- So ask
- ahla
- أَهْلَ
- (the) people
- l-dhik'ri
- ٱلذِّكْرِ
- (of) the Reminder
- in
- إِن
- if
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- taʿlamūna
- تَعْلَمُونَ
- know
And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know. (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 7)Tafsir
وَمَا جَعَلْنٰهُمْ جَسَدًا لَّا يَأْكُلُوْنَ الطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوْا خٰلِدِيْنَ ٨
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- jaʿalnāhum
- جَعَلْنَٰهُمْ
- We made them
- jasadan
- جَسَدًا
- bodies
- lā
- لَّا
- not
- yakulūna
- يَأْكُلُونَ
- eating
- l-ṭaʿāma
- ٱلطَّعَامَ
- the food
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they were
- khālidīna
- خَٰلِدِينَ
- immortals
And We did not make them [i.e., the prophets] forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 8)Tafsir
ثُمَّ صَدَقْنٰهُمُ الْوَعْدَ فَاَنْجَيْنٰهُمْ وَمَنْ نَّشَاۤءُ وَاَهْلَكْنَا الْمُسْرِفِيْنَ ٩
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- ṣadaqnāhumu
- صَدَقْنَٰهُمُ
- We fulfilled (for) them
- l-waʿda
- ٱلْوَعْدَ
- the promise
- fa-anjaynāhum
- فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُمْ
- and We saved them
- waman
- وَمَن
- and whom
- nashāu
- نَّشَآءُ
- We willed
- wa-ahlaknā
- وَأَهْلَكْنَا
- and We destroyed
- l-mus'rifīna
- ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
- the transgressors
Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 9)Tafsir
لَقَدْ اَنْزَلْنَآ اِلَيْكُمْ كِتٰبًا فِيْهِ ذِكْرُكُمْۗ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ ࣖ ١٠
- laqad
- لَقَدْ
- Indeed
- anzalnā
- أَنزَلْنَآ
- We (have) sent down
- ilaykum
- إِلَيْكُمْ
- to you
- kitāban
- كِتَٰبًا
- a Book
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- in it
- dhik'rukum
- ذِكْرُكُمْۖ
- (is) your mention
- afalā
- أَفَلَا
- Then will not
- taʿqilūna
- تَعْقِلُونَ
- you use reason?
We have certainly sent down to you a Book [i.e., the Quran] in which is your mention. Then will you not reason? (QS. [21] Al-Anbya: 10)Tafsir
