Al-Qur'an Surah Taha Verse 62
Taha [20]: 62 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
فَتَنَازَعُوْٓا اَمْرَهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ وَاَسَرُّوا النَّجْوٰى (طه : ٢٠)
- fatanāzaʿū
- فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓا۟
- Then they disputed
- amrahum
- أَمْرَهُم
- (in) their affair
- baynahum
- بَيْنَهُمْ
- among them
- wa-asarrū
- وَأَسَرُّوا۟
- and they kept secret
- l-najwā
- ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ
- the private conversation
Transliteration:
Fatanaaza'ooo amrahum bainahum wa asarrun najwaa(QS. Ṭāʾ Hāʾ:62)
English / Sahih Translation:
So they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation. (QS. Taha, ayah 62)

So they disputed their matter among themselves, regarding Moses and his brother, and kept secret their private counsel, that is, their conversation regarding the two,
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
فَتَنَازَعُوا أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ
"...And surely, he who invents a lie will fail miserably." Then they debated one with another what they must do,
It has been said that this means that they argued among themselves. So one of them said, "This is not the speech of a magician, but it is the speech of a Prophet."
Another said, "No, he is only a magician."
There are other opinions that have been mentioned about what they discussed. And Allah knows best.
Allah's statement,
وَأَسَرُّوا النَّجْوَى
and they kept their talk secret.
means, they held secret counsel among themselves about this matter
