Al-Qur'an Surah Taha Verse 47

Mufti Taqi Usmani

So, come to him and say, ‘We are the messengers of your Lord. So, let the children of Isrā’īl go with us, and do not persecute them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace be upon the one who follows the guidance.

So go to him and say, ‘Indeed we are both messengers from your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not oppress them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And salvation will be for whoever follows the ˹right˺ guidance.

So you (B) come to him, so you (B) say: We (E) are your Lord`s two messengers, so send with us Israel`s sons and daughters, and do not torture them, We had come to you with a sign/evidence from your Lord, and the greeting/safety/security on who followed the guidance."

They came to the Pharaoh and told him that they were the Messengerss of his Lord and that they wanted him to let the Israelites go with them and stop afflicting the Israelites with torment. They told the Pharaoh, "We have brought miracles from Our Creator. Peace be with those who follow the right guidance.

Both of you go to him (Pharaoh) and say: "We are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel depart with us, and do not punish them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; peace be on him who follows guidance!

Tafsir jalalayn

So go to him and say, "Truly we are two messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with us, to Syria, and do not [continue to] chastise them, in other words, release them from your exploitation of them in those oppressive works of yours, such as digging, construction and the lifting of heavy objects. We have verily brought you a sign, a definitive argument, from your Lord, as proof of our truthfulness in [delivering] the Message; and may peace be upon him who follows [right] guidance, that is to say, may he be secure from [God's] chastisement.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَأْتِيَاهُ فَقُولَاأ إِنَّا رَسُولَاأ رَبِّكَ

So go you both to him, and say;"Verily, we are both Messengers of your Lord..."

فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَايِيلَ وَلَاأ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ

so let the Children of Israel go with us, and torment them not;
Musa admonishes Fir`awn

Concerning his statement,

قَدْ جِيْنَاكَ بِأيَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكَ

indeed, We have come with a sign from your Lord!

meaning with evidence and a miracle from your Lord.

وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَى



And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance!

meaning, `peace be upon you if you follow the guidance.'

Because of this, when the Messenger of Allah wrote a letter to Heraclius, the emperor of Rome, beginning with,

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ

مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللهِ إِلَى هِرَقْلَ عَظِيمِ الرُّومِ

سَلَمٌ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدى أَمَّا بَعْدُ

فَإِنِّي أَدْعُوكَ بِدِعَايَةِ الاْإِسْلَإمِ فَأَسْلِمْ تَسْلَمْ يُوْتِكَ اللهُ أَجْرَكَ مَرَّتَيْن

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, to Heraclius the emperor of Rome.

Peace be upon him who follows the guidance. Thus, to proceed;

Verily, I invite you with the invitation of Islam. So accept Islam and you will be safe, and Allah will give you a double reward.

Due to this, Musa and Harun said to Fir`awn,

وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَى


إِنَّا قَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْنَا أَنَّ الْعَذَابَ عَلَى مَن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى
