Al-Qur'an Surah Taha Verse 118

Taha [20]: 118 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

اِنَّ لَكَ اَلَّا تَجُوْعَ فِيْهَا وَلَا تَعْرٰى ۙ (طه : ٢٠)

inna
إِنَّ
Indeed

تَجُوعَ
you will be hungry

فِيهَا
therein

وَلَا
and not
taʿrā
تَعْرَىٰ
you will be unclothed

Transliteration:

Innaa laka allaa tajoo'a feeha wa laa ta'raa (QS. Ṭāʾ Hāʾ:118)

English / Sahih Translation:

Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed. (QS. Taha, ayah 118)

Tafsir jalalayn

Verily, you will never be hungry therein nor naked.

The reason that Allah combined hunger and nakedness is because hunger is internal humiliation, while nakedness is external humiliation.

وَأَنَّكَ لَاأ تَظْمَأُ فِيهَا وَلَاأ تَضْحَى
