كُلُوْا مِنْ طَيِّبٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنٰكُمْۙ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا فِيْهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِيْۚ وَمَنْ يَّحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِيْ فَقَدْ هَوٰى ٨١
- kulū
- كُلُوا۟
- Eat
- min
- مِن
- of
- ṭayyibāti
- طَيِّبَٰتِ
- (the) good things
- mā
- مَا
- which
- razaqnākum
- رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ
- We have provided you
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (do) not
- taṭghaw
- تَطْغَوْا۟
- transgress
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- therein
- fayaḥilla
- فَيَحِلَّ
- lest should descend
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- upon you
- ghaḍabī
- غَضَبِىۖ
- My Anger
- waman
- وَمَن
- And whoever
- yaḥlil
- يَحْلِلْ
- on whom descends
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- on whom descends
- ghaḍabī
- غَضَبِى
- My Anger
- faqad
- فَقَدْ
- indeed
- hawā
- هَوَىٰ
- he (has) perished
[Saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress [or oppress others] therein, lest My anger should descend upon you. And he upon whom My anger descends has certainly fallen [i.e., perished]." (QS. [20] Taha: 81)Tafsir
وَاِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَنْ تَابَ وَاٰمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدٰى ٨٢
- wa-innī
- وَإِنِّى
- But indeed I Am
- laghaffārun
- لَغَفَّارٌ
- the Perpetual Forgiver
- liman
- لِّمَن
- of whoever
- tāba
- تَابَ
- repents
- waāmana
- وَءَامَنَ
- and believes
- waʿamila
- وَعَمِلَ
- and does
- ṣāliḥan
- صَٰلِحًا
- righteous (deeds)
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- ih'tadā
- ٱهْتَدَىٰ
- remains guided
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance. (QS. [20] Taha: 82)Tafsir
۞ وَمَآ اَعْجَلَكَ عَنْ قَوْمِكَ يٰمُوْسٰى ٨٣
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- "And what
- aʿjalaka
- أَعْجَلَكَ
- made you hasten
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- qawmika
- قَوْمِكَ
- your people
- yāmūsā
- يَٰمُوسَىٰ
- O Musa?"
[Allah said], "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses?" (QS. [20] Taha: 83)Tafsir
قَالَ هُمْ اُولَاۤءِ عَلٰٓى اَثَرِيْ وَعَجِلْتُ اِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضٰى ٨٤
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- hum
- هُمْ
- "They
- ulāi
- أُو۟لَآءِ
- (are) close
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- upon
- atharī
- أَثَرِى
- my tracks
- waʿajil'tu
- وَعَجِلْتُ
- and I hastened
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- my Lord
- litarḍā
- لِتَرْضَىٰ
- that You be pleased"
He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased." (QS. [20] Taha: 84)Tafsir
قَالَ فَاِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِكَ وَاَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ ٨٥
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- fa-innā
- فَإِنَّا
- "But indeed, We
- qad
- قَدْ
- [verily]
- fatannā
- فَتَنَّا
- We (have) tried
- qawmaka
- قَوْمَكَ
- your people
- min
- مِنۢ
- after you
- baʿdika
- بَعْدِكَ
- after you
- wa-aḍallahumu
- وَأَضَلَّهُمُ
- and has led them astray
- l-sāmiriyu
- ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ
- the Samiri"
[Allah] said, "But indeed, We have tried your people after you [departed], and the Samiri has led them astray." (QS. [20] Taha: 85)Tafsir
فَرَجَعَ مُوْسٰٓى اِلٰى قَوْمِهٖ غَضْبَانَ اَسِفًا ەۚ قَالَ يٰقَوْمِ اَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا ەۗ اَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْعَهْدُ اَمْ اَرَدْتُّمْ اَنْ يَّحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ فَاَخْلَفْتُمْ مَّوْعِدِيْ ٨٦
- farajaʿa
- فَرَجَعَ
- Then Musa returned
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰٓ
- Then Musa returned
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- qawmihi
- قَوْمِهِۦ
- his people
- ghaḍbāna
- غَضْبَٰنَ
- angry
- asifan
- أَسِفًاۚ
- (and) sorrowful
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- yāqawmi
- يَٰقَوْمِ
- "O my people!
- alam
- أَلَمْ
- Did not
- yaʿid'kum
- يَعِدْكُمْ
- promise you
- rabbukum
- رَبُّكُمْ
- your Lord
- waʿdan
- وَعْدًا
- a promise
- ḥasanan
- حَسَنًاۚ
- good?
- afaṭāla
- أَفَطَالَ
- Then, did seem long
- ʿalaykumu
- عَلَيْكُمُ
- to you
- l-ʿahdu
- ٱلْعَهْدُ
- the promise
- am
- أَمْ
- or
- aradttum
- أَرَدتُّمْ
- did you desire
- an
- أَن
- that
- yaḥilla
- يَحِلَّ
- descend
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- upon you
- ghaḍabun
- غَضَبٌ
- (the) Anger
- min
- مِّن
- of
- rabbikum
- رَّبِّكُمْ
- your Lord
- fa-akhlaftum
- فَأَخْلَفْتُم
- so you broke
- mawʿidī
- مَّوْعِدِى
- (the) promise to me?"
So Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved. He said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Then, was the time [of its fulfillment] too long for you, or did you wish that wrath from your Lord descend upon you, so you broke your promise [of obedience] to me?" (QS. [20] Taha: 86)Tafsir
قَالُوْا مَآ اَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَآ اَوْزَارًا مِّنْ زِيْنَةِ الْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنٰهَا فَكَذٰلِكَ اَلْقَى السَّامِرِيُّ ۙ ٨٧
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- mā
- مَآ
- "Not
- akhlafnā
- أَخْلَفْنَا
- we broke
- mawʿidaka
- مَوْعِدَكَ
- promise to you
- bimalkinā
- بِمَلْكِنَا
- by our will
- walākinnā
- وَلَٰكِنَّا
- but we
- ḥummil'nā
- حُمِّلْنَآ
- [we] were made to carry
- awzāran
- أَوْزَارًا
- burdens
- min
- مِّن
- from
- zīnati
- زِينَةِ
- ornaments
- l-qawmi
- ٱلْقَوْمِ
- (of) the people
- faqadhafnāhā
- فَقَذَفْنَٰهَا
- so we threw them
- fakadhālika
- فَكَذَٰلِكَ
- and thus
- alqā
- أَلْقَى
- threw
- l-sāmiriyu
- ٱلسَّامِرِىُّ
- the Samiri"
They said, "We did not break our promise to you by our will, but we were made to carry burdens from the ornaments of the people [of Pharaoh], so we threw them [into the fire], and thus did the Samiri throw." (QS. [20] Taha: 87)Tafsir
فَاَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَّهٗ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوْا هٰذَآ اِلٰهُكُمْ وَاِلٰهُ مُوْسٰى ەۙ فَنَسِيَ ۗ ٨٨
- fa-akhraja
- فَأَخْرَجَ
- Then he brought forth
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- ʿij'lan
- عِجْلًا
- a calf's
- jasadan
- جَسَدًا
- body
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- it had
- khuwārun
- خُوَارٌ
- a lowing sound
- faqālū
- فَقَالُوا۟
- and they said
- hādhā
- هَٰذَآ
- "This
- ilāhukum
- إِلَٰهُكُمْ
- (is) your god
- wa-ilāhu
- وَإِلَٰهُ
- and the god
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- (of) Musa
- fanasiya
- فَنَسِىَ
- but he forgot"
And he extracted for them [the statue of] a calf which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot." (QS. [20] Taha: 88)Tafsir
اَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ اَلَّا يَرْجِعُ اِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا ەۙ وَّلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَّلَا نَفْعًا ࣖ ٨٩
- afalā
- أَفَلَا
- Then did not
- yarawna
- يَرَوْنَ
- they see
- allā
- أَلَّا
- that not
- yarjiʿu
- يَرْجِعُ
- it (could) return
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِمْ
- to them
- qawlan
- قَوْلًا
- a word
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yamliku
- يَمْلِكُ
- possess
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- ḍarran
- ضَرًّا
- any harm
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- nafʿan
- نَفْعًا
- any benefit?
Did they not see that it could not return to them any speech [i.e., response] and that it did not possess for them any harm or benefit? (QS. [20] Taha: 89)Tafsir
وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هٰرُوْنُ مِنْ قَبْلُ يٰقَوْمِ اِنَّمَا فُتِنْتُمْ بِهٖۚ وَاِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحْمٰنُ فَاتَّبِعُوْنِيْ وَاَطِيْعُوْٓا اَمْرِيْ ٩٠
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And verily
- qāla
- قَالَ
- (had) said
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- to them
- hārūnu
- هَٰرُونُ
- Harun
- min
- مِن
- before
- qablu
- قَبْلُ
- before
- yāqawmi
- يَٰقَوْمِ
- "O my people!
- innamā
- إِنَّمَا
- Only
- futintum
- فُتِنتُم
- you are being tested
- bihi
- بِهِۦۖ
- by it
- wa-inna
- وَإِنَّ
- and indeed
- rabbakumu
- رَبَّكُمُ
- your Lord
- l-raḥmānu
- ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ
- (is) the Most Gracious
- fa-ittabiʿūnī
- فَٱتَّبِعُونِى
- so follow me
- wa-aṭīʿū
- وَأَطِيعُوٓا۟
- and obey
- amrī
- أَمْرِى
- my order"
And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." (QS. [20] Taha: 90)Tafsir
