Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 250
Al-Baqarah [2]: 250 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَلَمَّا بَرَزُوْا لِجَالُوْتَ وَجُنُوْدِهٖ قَالُوْا رَبَّنَآ اَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَّثَبِّتْ اَقْدَامَنَا وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ۗ (البقرة : ٢)

- بَرَزُوا۟
- they went forth
- lijālūta
- لِجَالُوتَ
- to (face) Jalut
- wajunūdihi
- وَجُنُودِهِۦ
- and his troops

- رَبَّنَآ
- "Our Lord!
- afrigh
- أَفْرِغْ
- Pour
- ʿalaynā
- عَلَيْنَا
- on us
- ṣabran
- صَبْرًا
- patience
- wathabbit
- وَثَبِّتْ
- and make firm
- aqdāmanā
- أَقْدَامَنَا
- our feet
- wa-unṣur'nā
- وَٱنصُرْنَا
- and help us
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- against
- l-qawmi
- ٱلْقَوْمِ
- the people
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- (who are) disbelieving"
Transliteration:
Wa lammaa barazoo liJaaloota wa junoodihee qaaloo Rabbanaaa afrigh 'alainaa sabranw wa sabbit aqdaamanaa wansurnaa 'alal qawmil kaafireen(QS. al-Baq̈arah:250)
English / Sahih Translation:
And when they went forth to [face] Goliath and his soldiers, they said, "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (QS. Al-Baqarah, ayah 250)

So, when they went forth against Goliath and his troops, facing them in military columns, they said, `Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and make firm our feet, by strengthening our hearts for this struggle, and grant us victory over the disbelieving folk!'
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Allah further tells;
وَلَمَّا بَرَزُواْ لِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِ
And when they advanced to meet Jalut (Goliath) and his forces,
When the faithful party, who were few under the command of Talut, faced their enemy, who were many under the command of Jalut,
قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا
they invoked;"Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience...,"
meaning, send down patience on us from You.
وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا
and set firm our feet,
meaning, against the enemy and save us from running away and from feebleness,
وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
and make us victorious over the disbelieving people.)
Allah said
