وَعَلَّمَ اٰدَمَ الْاَسْمَاۤءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ فَقَالَ اَنْۢبِـُٔوْنِيْ بِاَسْمَاۤءِ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ ٣١
- waʿallama
- وَعَلَّمَ
- And He taught
- ādama
- ءَادَمَ
- Adam
- l-asmāa
- ٱلْأَسْمَآءَ
- the names
- kullahā
- كُلَّهَا
- all of them
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- ʿaraḍahum
- عَرَضَهُمْ
- He displayed them
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- to
- l-malāikati
- ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
- the angels
- faqāla
- فَقَالَ
- then He said
- anbiūnī
- أَنۢبِـُٔونِى
- "Inform Me
- bi-asmāi
- بِأَسْمَآءِ
- of (the) names
- hāulāi
- هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
- (of) these
- in
- إِن
- if
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you are
- ṣādiqīna
- صَٰدِقِينَ
- truthful"
And He taught Adam the names – all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, "Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 31)Tafsir
قَالُوْا سُبْحٰنَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَآ اِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا ۗاِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْعَلِيْمُ الْحَكِيْمُ ٣٢
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- sub'ḥānaka
- سُبْحَٰنَكَ
- "Glory be to You!
- lā
- لَا
- No
- ʿil'ma
- عِلْمَ
- knowledge
- lanā
- لَنَآ
- (is) for us
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- mā
- مَا
- what
- ʿallamtanā
- عَلَّمْتَنَآۖ
- You have taught us
- innaka
- إِنَّكَ
- Indeed You!
- anta
- أَنتَ
- You
- l-ʿalīmu
- ٱلْعَلِيمُ
- (are) the All-Knowing
- l-ḥakīmu
- ٱلْحَكِيمُ
- the All-Wise
They said, "Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 32)Tafsir
قَالَ يٰٓاٰدَمُ اَنْۢبِئْهُمْ بِاَسْمَاۤىِٕهِمْ ۚ فَلَمَّآ اَنْۢبَاَهُمْ بِاَسْمَاۤىِٕهِمْۙ قَالَ اَلَمْ اَقُلْ لَّكُمْ اِنِّيْٓ اَعْلَمُ غَيْبَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۙ وَاَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُوْنَ وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْتُمُوْنَ ٣٣
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- yāādamu
- يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ
- "O Adam!
- anbi'hum
- أَنۢبِئْهُم
- Inform them
- bi-asmāihim
- بِأَسْمَآئِهِمْۖ
- of their names"
- falammā
- فَلَمَّآ
- And when
- anba-ahum
- أَنۢبَأَهُم
- he had informed them
- bi-asmāihim
- بِأَسْمَآئِهِمْ
- of their names
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- alam
- أَلَمْ
- "Did not
- aqul
- أَقُل
- I say
- lakum
- لَّكُمْ
- to you
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- Indeed, I
- aʿlamu
- أَعْلَمُ
- [I] know
- ghayba
- غَيْبَ
- (the) unseen
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- (of) the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِ
- and the earth
- wa-aʿlamu
- وَأَعْلَمُ
- and I know
- mā
- مَا
- what
- tub'dūna
- تُبْدُونَ
- you reveal
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and what
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you [were]
- taktumūna
- تَكْتُمُونَ
- conceal"
He said, "O Adam, inform them of their names." And when he had informed them of their names, He said, "Did I not tell you that I know the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you have concealed." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 33)Tafsir
وَاِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ اسْجُدُوْا لِاٰدَمَ فَسَجَدُوْٓا اِلَّآ اِبْلِيْسَۗ اَبٰى وَاسْتَكْبَرَۖ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٣٤
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- qul'nā
- قُلْنَا
- We said
- lil'malāikati
- لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
- to the angels
- us'judū
- ٱسْجُدُوا۟
- "Prostrate
- liādama
- لِءَادَمَ
- to Adam"
- fasajadū
- فَسَجَدُوٓا۟
- [so] they prostrated
- illā
- إِلَّآ
- except
- ib'līsa
- إِبْلِيسَ
- Iblees
- abā
- أَبَىٰ
- He refused
- wa-is'takbara
- وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ
- and was arrogant
- wakāna
- وَكَانَ
- and became
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- the disbelievers
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate before Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 34)Tafsir
وَقُلْنَا يٰٓاٰدَمُ اسْكُنْ اَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَاۖ وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُوْنَا مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ ٣٥
- waqul'nā
- وَقُلْنَا
- And We said
- yāādamu
- يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ
- "O Adam!
- us'kun
- ٱسْكُنْ
- Dwell
- anta
- أَنتَ
- you
- wazawjuka
- وَزَوْجُكَ
- and your spouse
- l-janata
- ٱلْجَنَّةَ
- (in) Paradise
- wakulā
- وَكُلَا
- and [you both] eat
- min'hā
- مِنْهَا
- from it
- raghadan
- رَغَدًا
- freely
- ḥaythu
- حَيْثُ
- (from) wherever
- shi'tumā
- شِئْتُمَا
- you [both] wish
- walā
- وَلَا
- But do not
- taqrabā
- تَقْرَبَا
- [you two] approach
- hādhihi
- هَٰذِهِ
- this
- l-shajarata
- ٱلشَّجَرَةَ
- [the] tree
- fatakūnā
- فَتَكُونَا
- lest you [both] be
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-ẓālimīna
- ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
- the wrongdoers"
And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 35)Tafsir
فَاَزَلَّهُمَا الشَّيْطٰنُ عَنْهَا فَاَخْرَجَهُمَا مِمَّا كَانَا فِيْهِ ۖ وَقُلْنَا اهْبِطُوْا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۚ وَلَكُمْ فِى الْاَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَّمَتَاعٌ اِلٰى حِيْنٍ ٣٦
- fa-azallahumā
- فَأَزَلَّهُمَا
- Then made [both of] them slip
- l-shayṭānu
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
- the Shaitaan
- ʿanhā
- عَنْهَا
- from it
- fa-akhrajahumā
- فَأَخْرَجَهُمَا
- and he got [both of] them out
- mimmā
- مِمَّا
- from what
- kānā
- كَانَا
- they [both] were
- fīhi
- فِيهِۖ
- in [it]
- waqul'nā
- وَقُلْنَا
- And We said
- ih'biṭū
- ٱهْبِطُوا۟
- "Go down (all of you)
- baʿḍukum
- بَعْضُكُمْ
- some of you
- libaʿḍin
- لِبَعْضٍ
- to others
- ʿaduwwun
- عَدُوٌّۖ
- (as) enemy
- walakum
- وَلَكُمْ
- and for you
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- mus'taqarrun
- مُسْتَقَرٌّ
- (is) a dwelling place
- wamatāʿun
- وَمَتَٰعٌ
- and a provision
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- for
- ḥīnin
- حِينٍ
- a period"
But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, "Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 36)Tafsir
فَتَلَقّٰٓى اٰدَمُ مِنْ رَّبِّهٖ كَلِمٰتٍ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ ۗ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ ٣٧
- fatalaqqā
- فَتَلَقَّىٰٓ
- Then received
- ādamu
- ءَادَمُ
- Adam
- min
- مِن
- from
- rabbihi
- رَّبِّهِۦ
- his Lord
- kalimātin
- كَلِمَٰتٍ
- words
- fatāba
- فَتَابَ
- So (his Lord) turned
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِۚ
- towards him
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed He!
- huwa
- هُوَ
- He
- l-tawābu
- ٱلتَّوَّابُ
- (is) the Oft-returning (to mercy)
- l-raḥīmu
- ٱلرَّحِيمُ
- the Most Merciful
Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, it is He who is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 37)Tafsir
قُلْنَا اهْبِطُوْا مِنْهَا جَمِيْعًا ۚ فَاِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ مِّنِّيْ هُدًى فَمَنْ تَبِعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ ٣٨
- qul'nā
- قُلْنَا
- We said
- ih'biṭū
- ٱهْبِطُوا۟
- "Go down
- min'hā
- مِنْهَا
- from it
- jamīʿan
- جَمِيعًاۖ
- all (of you)
- fa-immā
- فَإِمَّا
- and when
- yatiyannakum
- يَأْتِيَنَّكُم
- comes to you
- minnī
- مِّنِّى
- from Me
- hudan
- هُدًى
- Guidance
- faman
- فَمَن
- then whoever
- tabiʿa
- تَبِعَ
- follows
- hudāya
- هُدَاىَ
- My Guidance
- falā
- فَلَا
- [then] no
- khawfun
- خَوْفٌ
- fear
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- (will be) on them
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- yaḥzanūna
- يَحْزَنُونَ
- will grieve
We said, "Go down from it, all of you. And when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 38)Tafsir
وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَكَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَآ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ اَصْحٰبُ النَّارِ ۚ هُمْ فِيْهَا خٰلِدُوْنَ ࣖ ٣٩
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- And those
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- who disbelieve[d]
- wakadhabū
- وَكَذَّبُوا۟
- and deny
- biāyātinā
- بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ
- Our Signs
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- those
- aṣḥābu
- أَصْحَٰبُ
- (are the) companions
- l-nāri
- ٱلنَّارِۖ
- (of) the Fire;
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in it
- khālidūna
- خَٰلِدُونَ
- (will) abide forever"
And those who disbelieve and deny Our signs – those will be companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 39)Tafsir
يٰبَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ اذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَتِيَ الَّتِيْٓ اَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَاَوْفُوْا بِعَهْدِيْٓ اُوْفِ بِعَهْدِكُمْۚ وَاِيَّايَ فَارْهَبُوْنِ ٤٠
- yābanī
- يَٰبَنِىٓ
- O Children
- is'rāīla
- إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
- (of) Israel!
- udh'kurū
- ٱذْكُرُوا۟
- Remember
- niʿ'matiya
- نِعْمَتِىَ
- My Favor
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِىٓ
- which
- anʿamtu
- أَنْعَمْتُ
- I bestowed
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- upon you
- wa-awfū
- وَأَوْفُوا۟
- and fulfill
- biʿahdī
- بِعَهْدِىٓ
- My Covenant
- ūfi
- أُوفِ
- I will fulfill
- biʿahdikum
- بِعَهْدِكُمْ
- your covenant
- wa-iyyāya
- وَإِيَّٰىَ
- and Me Alone
- fa-ir'habūni
- فَٱرْهَبُونِ
- fear [Me]
O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you and fulfill My covenant [upon you] that I will fulfill your covenant [from Me], and be afraid of [only] Me. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 40)Tafsir
