يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوْا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَكُمْ وَالَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُوْنَۙ ٢١
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- O you
- l-nāsu
- ٱلنَّاسُ
- mankind!
- uʿ'budū
- ٱعْبُدُوا۟
- worship
- rabbakumu
- رَبَّكُمُ
- your Lord
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the One Who
- khalaqakum
- خَلَقَكُمْ
- created you
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- and those [who]
- min
- مِن
- from
- qablikum
- قَبْلِكُمْ
- before you
- laʿallakum
- لَعَلَّكُمْ
- so that you may
- tattaqūna
- تَتَّقُونَ
- become righteous
O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous – (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 21)Tafsir
الَّذِيْ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْاَرْضَ فِرَاشًا وَّالسَّمَاۤءَ بِنَاۤءً ۖوَّاَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءً فَاَخْرَجَ بِهٖ مِنَ الثَّمَرٰتِ رِزْقًا لَّكُمْ ۚ فَلَا تَجْعَلُوْا لِلّٰهِ اَنْدَادًا وَّاَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ٢٢
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- The One Who
- jaʿala
- جَعَلَ
- made
- lakumu
- لَكُمُ
- for you
- l-arḍa
- ٱلْأَرْضَ
- the earth
- firāshan
- فِرَٰشًا
- a resting place
- wal-samāa
- وَٱلسَّمَآءَ
- and the sky
- bināan
- بِنَآءً
- a canopy
- wa-anzala
- وَأَنزَلَ
- and sent down
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-samāi
- ٱلسَّمَآءِ
- the sky
- māan
- مَآءً
- water
- fa-akhraja
- فَأَخْرَجَ
- then brought forth
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- therewith
- mina
- مِنَ
- [of]
- l-thamarāti
- ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
- the fruits
- riz'qan
- رِزْقًا
- (as) provision
- lakum
- لَّكُمْۖ
- for you
- falā
- فَلَا
- So (do) not
- tajʿalū
- تَجْعَلُوا۟
- set up
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- to Allah
- andādan
- أَندَادًا
- rivals
- wa-antum
- وَأَنتُمْ
- while you
- taʿlamūna
- تَعْلَمُونَ
- [you] know
[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 22)Tafsir
وَاِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِيْ رَيْبٍ مِّمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلٰى عَبْدِنَا فَأْتُوْا بِسُوْرَةٍ مِّنْ مِّثْلِهٖ ۖ وَادْعُوْا شُهَدَاۤءَكُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ ٢٣
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- And if
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you are
- fī
- فِى
- in
- raybin
- رَيْبٍ
- doubt
- mimmā
- مِّمَّا
- about what
- nazzalnā
- نَزَّلْنَا
- We have revealed
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- to
- ʿabdinā
- عَبْدِنَا
- Our slave
- fatū
- فَأْتُوا۟
- then produce
- bisūratin
- بِسُورَةٍ
- a chapter
- min
- مِّن
- [of]
- mith'lihi
- مِّثْلِهِۦ
- like it
- wa-id'ʿū
- وَٱدْعُوا۟
- and call
- shuhadāakum
- شُهَدَآءَكُم
- your witnesses
- min
- مِّن
- from
- dūni
- دُونِ
- other than
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- in
- إِن
- if
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you are
- ṣādiqīna
- صَٰدِقِينَ
- truthful
And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down [i.e., the Quran] upon Our Servant [i.e., Prophet Muhammad (^)], then produce a Surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses [i.e., supporters] other than Allah, if you should be truthful. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 23)Tafsir
فَاِنْ لَّمْ تَفْعَلُوْا وَلَنْ تَفْعَلُوْا فَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ الَّتِيْ وَقُوْدُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ ۖ اُعِدَّتْ لِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٢٤
- fa-in
- فَإِن
- But if
- lam
- لَّمْ
- not
- tafʿalū
- تَفْعَلُوا۟
- you do
- walan
- وَلَن
- and never
- tafʿalū
- تَفْعَلُوا۟
- will you do
- fa-ittaqū
- فَٱتَّقُوا۟
- then fear
- l-nāra
- ٱلنَّارَ
- the Fire
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِى
- whose
- waqūduhā
- وَقُودُهَا
- [its] fuel
- l-nāsu
- ٱلنَّاسُ
- (is) [the] men
- wal-ḥijāratu
- وَٱلْحِجَارَةُۖ
- and [the] stones
- uʿiddat
- أُعِدَّتْ
- prepared
- lil'kāfirīna
- لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- for the disbelievers
But if you do not – and you will never be able to – then fear the Fire, whose fuel is people and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 24)Tafsir
وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ اَنَّ لَهُمْ جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ ۗ كُلَّمَا رُزِقُوْا مِنْهَا مِنْ ثَمَرَةٍ رِّزْقًا ۙ قَالُوْا هٰذَا الَّذِيْ رُزِقْنَا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَاُتُوْا بِهٖ مُتَشَابِهًا ۗوَلَهُمْ فِيْهَآ اَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ وَّهُمْ فِيْهَا خٰلِدُوْنَ ٢٥
- wabashiri
- وَبَشِّرِ
- And give good news
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (to) those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believe
- waʿamilū
- وَعَمِلُوا۟
- and do
- l-ṣāliḥāti
- ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
- [the] righteous deeds
- anna
- أَنَّ
- that
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- jannātin
- جَنَّٰتٍ
- (will be) Gardens
- tajrī
- تَجْرِى
- flow
- min
- مِن
- [from]
- taḥtihā
- تَحْتِهَا
- under them
- l-anhāru
- ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُۖ
- the rivers
- kullamā
- كُلَّمَا
- Every time
- ruziqū
- رُزِقُوا۟
- they are provided
- min'hā
- مِنْهَا
- therefrom
- min
- مِن
- of
- thamaratin
- ثَمَرَةٍ
- fruit
- riz'qan
- رِّزْقًاۙ
- (as) provision
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they (will) say
- hādhā
- هَٰذَا
- "This (is)
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the one which
- ruziq'nā
- رُزِقْنَا
- we were provided
- min
- مِن
- from
- qablu
- قَبْلُۖ
- before"
- wa-utū
- وَأُتُوا۟
- And they will be given
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- therefrom
- mutashābihan
- مُتَشَٰبِهًاۖ
- (things) in resemblance
- walahum
- وَلَهُمْ
- And for them
- fīhā
- فِيهَآ
- therein
- azwājun
- أَزْوَٰجٌ
- spouses
- muṭahharatun
- مُّطَهَّرَةٌۖ
- purified
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- and they
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- therein
- khālidūna
- خَٰلِدُونَ
- (will) abide forever
And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 25)Tafsir
۞ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيٖٓ اَنْ يَّضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَّا بَعُوْضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا ۗ فَاَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا فَيَعْلَمُوْنَ اَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَّبِّهِمْ ۚ وَاَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا فَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَاذَآ اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَا مَثَلًا ۘ يُضِلُّ بِهٖ كَثِيْرًا وَّيَهْدِيْ بِهٖ كَثِيْرًا ۗ وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِهٖٓ اِلَّا الْفٰسِقِيْنَۙ ٢٦
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- lā
- لَا
- (is) not
- yastaḥyī
- يَسْتَحْىِۦٓ
- ashamed
- an
- أَن
- to
- yaḍriba
- يَضْرِبَ
- set forth
- mathalan
- مَثَلًا
- an example
- mā
- مَّا
- (like) even
- baʿūḍatan
- بَعُوضَةً
- (of) a mosquito
- famā
- فَمَا
- and (even) something
- fawqahā
- فَوْقَهَاۚ
- above it
- fa-ammā
- فَأَمَّا
- Then as for
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوا۟
- believed
- fayaʿlamūna
- فَيَعْلَمُونَ
- [thus] they will know
- annahu
- أَنَّهُ
- that it
- l-ḥaqu
- ٱلْحَقُّ
- (is) the truth
- min
- مِن
- from
- rabbihim
- رَّبِّهِمْۖ
- their Lord
- wa-ammā
- وَأَمَّا
- And as for
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- kafarū
- كَفَرُوا۟
- disbelieved
- fayaqūlūna
- فَيَقُولُونَ
- [thus] they will say
- mādhā
- مَاذَآ
- what
- arāda
- أَرَادَ
- (did) intend
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- bihādhā
- بِهَٰذَا
- by this
- mathalan
- مَثَلاًۘ
- example?
- yuḍillu
- يُضِلُّ
- He lets go astray
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- by it
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًا
- many
- wayahdī
- وَيَهْدِى
- and He guides
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- by it
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًاۚ
- many
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- yuḍillu
- يُضِلُّ
- He lets go astray
- bihi
- بِهِۦٓ
- by it
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- l-fāsiqīna
- ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ
- the defiantly disobedient
Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example – that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, "What did Allah intend by this as an example?" He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient, (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 26)Tafsir
الَّذِيْنَ يَنْقُضُوْنَ عَهْدَ اللّٰهِ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مِيْثَاقِهٖۖ وَيَقْطَعُوْنَ مَآ اَمَرَ اللّٰهُ بِهٖٓ اَنْ يُّوْصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُوْنَ فِى الْاَرْضِۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْخٰسِرُوْنَ ٢٧
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- Those who
- yanquḍūna
- يَنقُضُونَ
- break
- ʿahda
- عَهْدَ
- (the) Covenant
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- baʿdi
- بَعْدِ
- after
- mīthāqihi
- مِيثَٰقِهِۦ
- its ratification
- wayaqṭaʿūna
- وَيَقْطَعُونَ
- and [they] cut
- mā
- مَآ
- what
- amara
- أَمَرَ
- has ordered
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- bihi
- بِهِۦٓ
- it
- an
- أَن
- to
- yūṣala
- يُوصَلَ
- be joined
- wayuf'sidūna
- وَيُفْسِدُونَ
- and [they] spread corruption
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِۚ
- the earth
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- Those
- humu
- هُمُ
- they
- l-khāsirūna
- ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ
- (are) the losers
Who break the covenant of Allah after contracting it and sever that which Allah has ordered to be joined and cause corruption on earth. It is those who are the losers. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 27)Tafsir
كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَكُنْتُمْ اَمْوَاتًا فَاَحْيَاكُمْۚ ثُمَّ يُمِيْتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيْكُمْ ثُمَّ اِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ ٢٨
- kayfa
- كَيْفَ
- How
- takfurūna
- تَكْفُرُونَ
- (can) you disbelieve
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah?
- wakuntum
- وَكُنتُمْ
- While you were
- amwātan
- أَمْوَٰتًا
- dead
- fa-aḥyākum
- فَأَحْيَٰكُمْۖ
- then He gave you life
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- yumītukum
- يُمِيتُكُمْ
- He will cause you to die
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- yuḥ'yīkum
- يُحْيِيكُمْ
- He will give you life
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- then
- ilayhi
- إِلَيْهِ
- to Him
- tur'jaʿūna
- تُرْجَعُونَ
- you will be returned
How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 28)Tafsir
هُوَ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مَّا فِى الْاَرْضِ جَمِيْعًا ثُمَّ اسْتَوٰٓى اِلَى السَّمَاۤءِ فَسَوّٰىهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمٰوٰتٍ ۗ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيْمٌ ࣖ ٢٩
- huwa
- هُوَ
- He
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- (is) the One Who
- khalaqa
- خَلَقَ
- created
- lakum
- لَكُم
- for you
- mā
- مَّا
- what
- fī
- فِى
- (is) in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- jamīʿan
- جَمِيعًا
- all
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Moreover
- is'tawā
- ٱسْتَوَىٰٓ
- He turned
- ilā
- إِلَى
- to
- l-samāi
- ٱلسَّمَآءِ
- the heaven
- fasawwāhunna
- فَسَوَّىٰهُنَّ
- and fashioned them
- sabʿa
- سَبْعَ
- seven
- samāwātin
- سَمَٰوَٰتٍۚ
- heavens
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- And He
- bikulli
- بِكُلِّ
- of every
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌ
- (is) All-Knowing
It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, [His being above all creation], and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 29)Tafsir
وَاِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ ِانِّيْ جَاعِلٌ فِى الْاَرْضِ خَلِيْفَةً ۗ قَالُوْٓا اَتَجْعَلُ فِيْهَا مَنْ يُّفْسِدُ فِيْهَا وَيَسْفِكُ الدِّمَاۤءَۚ وَنَحْنُ نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَ ۗ قَالَ اِنِّيْٓ اَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ ٣٠
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- qāla
- قَالَ
- said
- rabbuka
- رَبُّكَ
- your Lord
- lil'malāikati
- لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
- to the angels
- innī
- إِنِّى
- "Indeed, I (am)
- jāʿilun
- جَاعِلٌ
- going to place
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- khalīfatan
- خَلِيفَةًۖ
- a vicegerent
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- they said
- atajʿalu
- أَتَجْعَلُ
- "Will You place
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in it
- man
- مَن
- (one) who
- yuf'sidu
- يُفْسِدُ
- will spread corruption
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in it
- wayasfiku
- وَيَسْفِكُ
- and will shed
- l-dimāa
- ٱلدِّمَآءَ
- [the] blood[s]
- wanaḥnu
- وَنَحْنُ
- while we
- nusabbiḥu
- نُسَبِّحُ
- [we] glorify (You)
- biḥamdika
- بِحَمْدِكَ
- with Your praises
- wanuqaddisu
- وَنُقَدِّسُ
- and we sanctify
- laka
- لَكَۖ
- [to] You
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- "Indeed, I
- aʿlamu
- أَعْلَمُ
- [I] know
- mā
- مَا
- what
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- taʿlamūna
- تَعْلَمُونَ
- you know"
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we exalt You with praise and declare Your perfection?" He [Allah] said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 30)Tafsir
