مَثَلُ الَّذِيْنَ يُنْفِقُوْنَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ اَنْۢبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ فِيْ كُلِّ سُنْۢبُلَةٍ مِّائَةُ حَبَّةٍ ۗ وَاللّٰهُ يُضٰعِفُ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۗوَاللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيْمٌ ٢٦١

- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- yuḍāʿifu
- يُضَٰعِفُ
- gives manifold
- liman
- لِمَن
- to whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۗ
- He wills
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- wāsiʿun
- وَٰسِعٌ
- (is) All-Encompassing
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌ
- All-Knowing
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 261)Tafsir
اَلَّذِيْنَ يُنْفِقُوْنَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ لَا يُتْبِعُوْنَ مَآ اَنْفَقُوْا مَنًّا وَّلَآ اَذًىۙ لَّهُمْ اَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْۚ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ ٢٦٢

- أَجْرُهُمْ
- their reward
- ʿinda
- عِندَ
- (is) with
- rabbihim
- رَبِّهِمْ
- their Lord
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (there will be) no
- khawfun
- خَوْفٌ
- fear
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- on them
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- yaḥzanūna
- يَحْزَنُونَ
- will grieve
Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 262)Tafsir
۞ قَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوْفٌ وَّمَغْفِرَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ صَدَقَةٍ يَّتْبَعُهَآ اَذًى ۗ وَاللّٰهُ غَنِيٌّ حَلِيْمٌ ٢٦٣

- followed [it]
- adhan
- أَذًىۗ
- (by) hurt
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- ghaniyyun
- غَنِىٌّ
- (is) All-Sufficient
- ḥalīmun
- حَلِيمٌ
- All-Forbearing
Kind speech and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury. And Allah is Free of need and Forbearing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 263)Tafsir
يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تُبْطِلُوْا صَدَقٰتِكُمْ بِالْمَنِّ وَالْاَذٰىۙ كَالَّذِيْ يُنْفِقُ مَالَهٗ رِئَاۤءَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۗ فَمَثَلُهٗ كَمَثَلِ صَفْوَانٍ عَلَيْهِ تُرَابٌ فَاَصَابَهٗ وَابِلٌ فَتَرَكَهٗ صَلْدًا ۗ لَا يَقْدِرُوْنَ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ مِّمَّا كَسَبُوْا ۗ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِى الْقَوْمَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٢٦٤

- بِٱلْمَنِّ
- with reminders (of it)

- وَٱلْأَذَىٰ
- or [the] hurt
- ka-alladhī
- كَٱلَّذِى
- like the one who
- yunfiqu
- يُنفِقُ
- spends
- mālahu
- مَالَهُۥ
- his wealth
- riāa
- رِئَآءَ
- (to) be seen
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- (by) the people
- walā
- وَلَا
- and (does) not
- yu'minu
- يُؤْمِنُ
- believe
- bil-lahi
- بِٱللَّهِ
- in Allah
- wal-yawmi
- وَٱلْيَوْمِ
- and the Day
- l-ākhiri
- ٱلْءَاخِرِۖ
- [the] Last
- famathaluhu
- فَمَثَلُهُۥ
- Then his example
- kamathali
- كَمَثَلِ
- (is) like
- ṣafwānin
- صَفْوَانٍ
- (that of a) smooth rock
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- upon it
- turābun
- تُرَابٌ
- (is) dust
- fa-aṣābahu
- فَأَصَابَهُۥ
- then fell on it
- wābilun
- وَابِلٌ
- heavy rain
- fatarakahu
- فَتَرَكَهُۥ
- then left it
- ṣaldan
- صَلْدًاۖ
- bare
- lā
- لَّا
- Not
- yaqdirūna
- يَقْدِرُونَ
- they have control
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- on
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- anything
- mimmā
- مِّمَّا
- of what
- kasabū
- كَسَبُوا۟ۗ
- they (have) earned
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- lā
- لَا
- (does) not
- yahdī
- يَهْدِى
- guide
- l-qawma
- ٱلْقَوْمَ
- the people
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- [the] disbelieving
O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders [of it] or injury as does one who spends his wealth [only] to be seen by the people and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day. His example is like that of a [large] smooth stone upon which is dust and is hit by a downpour that leaves it bare. They are unable [to keep] anything of what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 264)Tafsir
وَمَثَلُ الَّذِيْنَ يُنْفِقُوْنَ اَمْوَالَهُمُ ابْتِغَاۤءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللّٰهِ وَتَثْبِيْتًا مِّنْ اَنْفُسِهِمْ كَمَثَلِ جَنَّةٍۢ بِرَبْوَةٍ اَصَابَهَا وَابِلٌ فَاٰتَتْ اُكُلَهَا ضِعْفَيْنِۚ فَاِنْ لَّمْ يُصِبْهَا وَابِلٌ فَطَلٌّ ۗوَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ بَصِيْرٌ ٢٦٥

- anfusihim
- أَنفُسِهِمْ
- their (inner) souls
- kamathali
- كَمَثَلِ
- (is) like
- jannatin
- جَنَّةٍۭ
- a garden
- birabwatin
- بِرَبْوَةٍ
- on a height
- aṣābahā
- أَصَابَهَا
- fell on it
- wābilun
- وَابِلٌ
- heavy rain
- faātat
- فَـَٔاتَتْ
- so it yielded
- ukulahā
- أُكُلَهَا
- its harvest
- ḍiʿ'fayni
- ضِعْفَيْنِ
- double
- fa-in
- فَإِن
- Then if
- lam
- لَّمْ
- (does) not
- yuṣib'hā
- يُصِبْهَا
- fall (on) it
- wābilun
- وَابِلٌ
- heavy rain
- faṭallun
- فَطَلٌّۗ
- then a drizzle
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- bimā
- بِمَا
- of what
- taʿmalūna
- تَعْمَلُونَ
- you do
- baṣīrun
- بَصِيرٌ
- (is) All-Seer
And the example of those who spend their wealth seeking means to the approval of Allah and assuring [reward for] themselves is like a garden on high ground which is hit by a downpour – so it yields its fruits in double. And [even] if it is not hit by a downpour, then a drizzle [is sufficient]. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 265)Tafsir
اَيَوَدُّ اَحَدُكُمْ اَنْ تَكُوْنَ لَهٗ جَنَّةٌ مِّنْ نَّخِيْلٍ وَّاَعْنَابٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُۙ لَهٗ فِيْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرٰتِۙ وَاَصَابَهُ الْكِبَرُ وَلَهٗ ذُرِّيَّةٌ ضُعَفَاۤءُۚ فَاَصَابَهَآ اِعْصَارٌ فِيْهِ نَارٌ فَاحْتَرَقَتْ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمُ الْاٰيٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُوْنَ ࣖ ٢٦٦

- Would like

- أَحَدُكُمْ
- any of you

- أَن

- تَكُونَ
- it be
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for him
- jannatun
- جَنَّةٌ
- a garden

- مِّن
- of
- nakhīlin
- نَّخِيلٍ
- date-palms
- wa-aʿnābin
- وَأَعْنَابٍ
- and grapevines
- tajrī
- تَجْرِى
- flowing
- min
- مِن
- [from]
- taḥtihā
- تَحْتِهَا
- underneath it
- l-anhāru
- ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
- the rivers
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for him
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in it
- min
- مِن
- of
- kulli
- كُلِّ
- all (kinds)
- l-thamarāti
- ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
- (of) [the] fruits
- wa-aṣābahu
- وَأَصَابَهُ
- and strikes him
- l-kibaru
- ٱلْكِبَرُ
- [the] old age
- walahu
- وَلَهُۥ
- and [for] his
- dhurriyyatun
- ذُرِّيَّةٌ
- children
- ḍuʿafāu
- ضُعَفَآءُ
- (are) weak
- fa-aṣābahā
- فَأَصَابَهَآ
- then falls on it
- iʿ'ṣārun
- إِعْصَارٌ
- whirlwind
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- in it
- nārun
- نَارٌ
- (is) fire
- fa-iḥ'taraqat
- فَٱحْتَرَقَتْۗ
- then it is burnt
- kadhālika
- كَذَٰلِكَ
- Thus
- yubayyinu
- يُبَيِّنُ
- makes clear
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- lakumu
- لَكُمُ
- for you
- l-āyāti
- ٱلْءَايَٰتِ
- (His) Signs
- laʿallakum
- لَعَلَّكُمْ
- so that you may
- tatafakkarūna
- تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
- ponder
Would one of you like to have a garden of palm trees and grapevines underneath which rivers flow in which he has from every fruit? But he is afflicted with old age and has weak [i.e., immature] offspring, and it is hit by a whirlwind containing fire and is burned. Thus does Allah make clear to you [His] verses that you might give thought. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 266)Tafsir
يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اَنْفِقُوْا مِنْ طَيِّبٰتِ مَا كَسَبْتُمْ وَمِمَّآ اَخْرَجْنَا لَكُمْ مِّنَ الْاَرْضِ ۗ وَلَا تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيْثَ مِنْهُ تُنْفِقُوْنَ وَلَسْتُمْ بِاٰخِذِيْهِ اِلَّآ اَنْ تُغْمِضُوْا فِيْهِ ۗ وَاعْلَمُوْٓا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ غَنِيٌّ حَمِيْدٌ ٢٦٧

- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- O you
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- who
- āmanū
- ءَامَنُوٓا۟
- believe[d]!
- anfiqū
- أَنفِقُوا۟
- Spend

- طَيِّبَٰتِ
- (the) good things

- كَسَبْتُمْ
- you have earned

- وَمِمَّآ
- and whatever
- akhrajnā
- أَخْرَجْنَا
- We brought forth
- lakum
- لَكُم
- for you
- mina
- مِّنَ

- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِۖ
- the earth
- walā
- وَلَا
- And (do) not
- tayammamū
- تَيَمَّمُوا۟
- aim at
- l-khabītha
- ٱلْخَبِيثَ
- the bad
- min'hu
- مِنْهُ
- of it
- tunfiqūna
- تُنفِقُونَ
- you spend
- walastum
- وَلَسْتُم
- while you (would) not
- biākhidhīhi
- بِـَٔاخِذِيهِ
- take it
- illā
- إِلَّآ
- except
- an
- أَن
- [that]
- tugh'miḍū
- تُغْمِضُوا۟
- (with) close(d) eyes
- fīhi
- فِيهِۚ
- [in it]
- wa-iʿ'lamū
- وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟
- and know
- anna
- أَنَّ
- that
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- ghaniyyun
- غَنِىٌّ
- (is) Self-Sufficient
- ḥamīdun
- حَمِيدٌ
- Praiseworthy
O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have produced for you from the earth. And do not aim toward the defective therefrom, spending [from that] while you would not take it [yourself] except with closed eyes. And know that Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 267)Tafsir
اَلشَّيْطٰنُ يَعِدُكُمُ الْفَقْرَ وَيَأْمُرُكُمْ بِالْفَحْشَاۤءِ ۚ وَاللّٰهُ يَعِدُكُمْ مَّغْفِرَةً مِّنْهُ وَفَضْلًا ۗ وَاللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيْمٌ ۖ ٢٦٨
- al-shayṭānu
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
- The Shaitaan
- yaʿidukumu
- يَعِدُكُمُ
- promises you
- l-faqra
- ٱلْفَقْرَ
- [the] poverty
- wayamurukum
- وَيَأْمُرُكُم
- and orders you
- bil-faḥshāi
- بِٱلْفَحْشَآءِۖ
- to immorality
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- while Allah
- yaʿidukum
- يَعِدُكُم
- promises you
- maghfiratan
- مَّغْفِرَةً
- forgiveness
- min'hu
- مِّنْهُ
- from Him
- wafaḍlan
- وَفَضْلًاۗ
- and bounty
- wal-lahu
- وَٱللَّهُ
- And Allah
- wāsiʿun
- وَٰسِعٌ
- (is) All-Encompassing
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌ
- All-Knowing
Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 268)Tafsir
يُّؤْتِى الْحِكْمَةَ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُّؤْتَ الْحِكْمَةَ فَقَدْ اُوْتِيَ خَيْرًا كَثِيْرًا ۗ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ اِلَّآ اُولُوا الْاَلْبَابِ ٢٦٩

- He grants
- l-ḥik'mata
- ٱلْحِكْمَةَ
- [the] wisdom
- man
- مَن
- (to) whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۚ
- He wills
- waman
- وَمَن
- and whoever
- yu'ta
- يُؤْتَ
- is granted
- l-ḥik'mata
- ٱلْحِكْمَةَ
- [the] wisdom
- faqad
- فَقَدْ
- then certainly
- ūtiya
- أُوتِىَ
- he is granted
- khayran
- خَيْرًا
- good
- kathīran
- كَثِيرًاۗ
- abundant
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And none
- yadhakkaru
- يَذَّكَّرُ
- remembers
- illā
- إِلَّآ
- except
- ulū
- أُو۟لُوا۟
- those
- l-albābi
- ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
- (of) understanding
He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 269)Tafsir
وَمَآ اَنْفَقْتُمْ مِّنْ نَّفَقَةٍ اَوْ نَذَرْتُمْ مِّنْ نَّذْرٍ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعْلَمُهٗ ۗ وَمَا لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ مِنْ اَنْصَارٍ ٢٧٠
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And whatever
- anfaqtum
- أَنفَقْتُم
- you spend
- min
- مِّن
- (out) of
- nafaqatin
- نَّفَقَةٍ
- (your) expenditures
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- nadhartum
- نَذَرْتُم
- you vow
- min
- مِّن
- of
- nadhrin
- نَّذْرٍ
- vow(s)
- fa-inna
- فَإِنَّ
- then indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- yaʿlamuhu
- يَعْلَمُهُۥۗ
- knows it
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- lilẓẓālimīna
- لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ
- for the wrongdoers
- min
- مِنْ
- any
- anṣārin
- أَنصَارٍ
- helpers
And whatever you spend of expenditures or make of vows – indeed, Allah knows of it. And for the wrongdoers there are no helpers. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 270)Tafsir
