وَقَالُوْا لَنْ يَّدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ اِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ هُوْدًا اَوْ نَصٰرٰى ۗ تِلْكَ اَمَانِيُّهُمْ ۗ قُلْ هَاتُوْا بُرْهَانَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ ١١١
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- And they said
- lan
- لَن
- "Never
- yadkhula
- يَدْخُلَ
- will enter
- l-janata
- ٱلْجَنَّةَ
- the Paradise
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- man
- مَن
- who
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- hūdan
- هُودًا
- (a) Jew[s]
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- naṣārā
- نَصَٰرَىٰۗ
- (a) Christian[s]"
- til'ka
- تِلْكَ
- That
- amāniyyuhum
- أَمَانِيُّهُمْۗ
- (is) their wishful thinking
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- hātū
- هَاتُوا۟
- "Bring
- bur'hānakum
- بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ
- your proof
- in
- إِن
- if
- kuntum
- كُنتُمْ
- you are
- ṣādiqīna
- صَٰدِقِينَ
- [those who are] truthful"
And they say, "None will enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian." That is [merely] their wishful thinking. Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful." (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 111)Tafsir
بَلٰى مَنْ اَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهٗ لِلّٰهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَلَهٗٓ اَجْرُهٗ عِنْدَ رَبِّهٖۖ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ ࣖ ١١٢
- balā
- بَلَىٰ
- Yes
- man
- مَنْ
- whoever
- aslama
- أَسْلَمَ
- submits
- wajhahu
- وَجْهَهُۥ
- his face
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- to Allah
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- and he
- muḥ'sinun
- مُحْسِنٌ
- (is) a good-doer
- falahu
- فَلَهُۥٓ
- so for him
- ajruhu
- أَجْرُهُۥ
- (is) his reward
- ʿinda
- عِندَ
- with
- rabbihi
- رَبِّهِۦ
- his Lord
- walā
- وَلَا
- And no
- khawfun
- خَوْفٌ
- fear
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- (will be) on them
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- hum
- هُمْ
- they
- yaḥzanūna
- يَحْزَنُونَ
- (will) grieve
Yes, [on the contrary], whoever submits his face [i.e., self] in IsLam to Allah while being a doer of good will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 112)Tafsir
وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُوْدُ لَيْسَتِ النَّصٰرٰى عَلٰى شَيْءٍۖ وَّقَالَتِ النَّصٰرٰى لَيْسَتِ الْيَهُوْدُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍۙ وَّهُمْ يَتْلُوْنَ الْكِتٰبَۗ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْ ۚ فَاللّٰهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ فِيْمَا كَانُوْا فِيْهِ يَخْتَلِفُوْنَ ١١٣
- waqālati
- وَقَالَتِ
- And said
- l-yahūdu
- ٱلْيَهُودُ
- the Jews
- laysati
- لَيْسَتِ
- "Not
- l-naṣārā
- ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
- the Christians
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- (are) on
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- anything"
- waqālati
- وَقَالَتِ
- and said
- l-naṣārā
- ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
- the Christians
- laysati
- لَيْسَتِ
- "Not
- l-yahūdu
- ٱلْيَهُودُ
- the Jews
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- (are) on
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- anything"
- wahum
- وَهُمْ
- although they
- yatlūna
- يَتْلُونَ
- recite
- l-kitāba
- ٱلْكِتَٰبَۗ
- the Book
- kadhālika
- كَذَٰلِكَ
- Like that
- qāla
- قَالَ
- said
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
- mith'la
- مِثْلَ
- similar
- qawlihim
- قَوْلِهِمْۚ
- their saying
- fal-lahu
- فَٱللَّهُ
- [So] Allah
- yaḥkumu
- يَحْكُمُ
- will judge
- baynahum
- بَيْنَهُمْ
- between them
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (on the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
- (of) Resurrection
- fīmā
- فِيمَا
- in what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they were
- fīhi
- فِيهِ
- [in it]
- yakhtalifūna
- يَخْتَلِفُونَ
- differing
The Jews say, "The Christians have nothing [true] to stand on," and the Christians say, "The Jews have nothing to stand on," although they [both] recite the Scripture. Thus do those who know not [i.e., the polytheists] speak the same as their words. But Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 113)Tafsir
وَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ مَّنَعَ مَسٰجِدَ اللّٰهِ اَنْ يُّذْكَرَ فِيْهَا اسْمُهٗ وَسَعٰى فِيْ خَرَابِهَاۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ مَا كَانَ لَهُمْ اَنْ يَّدْخُلُوْهَآ اِلَّا خَاۤىِٕفِيْنَ ەۗ لَهُمْ فِى الدُّنْيَا خِزْيٌ وَّلَهُمْ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ ١١٤
- waman
- وَمَنْ
- And who
- aẓlamu
- أَظْلَمُ
- (is) more unjust
- mimman
- مِمَّن
- than (one) who
- manaʿa
- مَّنَعَ
- prevents
- masājida
- مَسَٰجِدَ
- (the) masajid
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- an
- أَن
- to
- yudh'kara
- يُذْكَرَ
- be mentioned
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- in them
- us'muhu
- ٱسْمُهُۥ
- His name
- wasaʿā
- وَسَعَىٰ
- and strives
- fī
- فِى
- for
- kharābihā
- خَرَابِهَآۚ
- their destruction?
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- Those!
- mā
- مَا
- Not
- kāna
- كَانَ
- it is
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- an
- أَن
- that
- yadkhulūhā
- يَدْخُلُوهَآ
- they enter them
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- khāifīna
- خَآئِفِينَۚ
- (like) those in fear
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- For them
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- the world
- khiz'yun
- خِزْىٌ
- (is) disgrace
- walahum
- وَلَهُمْ
- and for them
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- the Hereafter
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- (is) a punishment
- ʿaẓīmun
- عَظِيمٌ
- great
And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned [i.e., praised] in His mosques and strive toward their destruction. It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 114)Tafsir
وَلِلّٰهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ فَاَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوْا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللّٰهِ ۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيْمٌ ١١٥
- walillahi
- وَلِلَّهِ
- And for Allah
- l-mashriqu
- ٱلْمَشْرِقُ
- (is) the east
- wal-maghribu
- وَٱلْمَغْرِبُۚ
- and the west
- fa-aynamā
- فَأَيْنَمَا
- so wherever
- tuwallū
- تُوَلُّوا۟
- you turn
- fathamma
- فَثَمَّ
- [so] there
- wajhu
- وَجْهُ
- (is the) face
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- (of) Allah
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- wāsiʿun
- وَٰسِعٌ
- (is) All-Encompassing
- ʿalīmun
- عَلِيمٌ
- All-Knowing
And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah. Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 115)Tafsir
وَقَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللّٰهُ وَلَدًا ۙسُبْحٰنَهٗ ۗ بَلْ لَّهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ كُلٌّ لَّهٗ قَانِتُوْنَ ١١٦
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوا۟
- And they said
- ittakhadha
- ٱتَّخَذَ
- "has taken
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- waladan
- وَلَدًاۗ
- a son"
- sub'ḥānahu
- سُبْحَٰنَهُۥۖ
- Glory be to Him!
- bal
- بَل
- Nay
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- for Him
- mā
- مَا
- (is) what
- fī
- فِى
- (is) in
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ
- and the earth
- kullun
- كُلٌّ
- All
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- to Him
- qānitūna
- قَٰنِتُونَ
- (are) humbly obedient
They say, "Allah has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. All are devoutly obedient to Him, (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 116)Tafsir
بَدِيْعُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ وَاِذَا قَضٰٓى اَمْرًا فَاِنَّمَا يَقُوْلُ لَهٗ كُنْ فَيَكُوْنُ ١١٧
- badīʿu
- بَدِيعُ
- (The) Originator
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- (of) the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ
- and the earth!
- wa-idhā
- وَإِذَا
- And when
- qaḍā
- قَضَىٰٓ
- He decrees
- amran
- أَمْرًا
- a matter
- fa-innamā
- فَإِنَّمَا
- [so] only
- yaqūlu
- يَقُولُ
- He says
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- to it
- kun
- كُن
- "Be"
- fayakūnu
- فَيَكُونُ
- and it becomes
Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 117)Tafsir
وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ لَوْلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا اللّٰهُ اَوْ تَأْتِيْنَآ اٰيَةٌ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِّثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْ ۗ تَشَابَهَتْ قُلُوْبُهُمْ ۗ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا الْاٰيٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُّوْقِنُوْنَ ١١٨
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- And said
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
- lawlā
- لَوْلَا
- "Why not
- yukallimunā
- يُكَلِّمُنَا
- speaks to us
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- tatīnā
- تَأْتِينَآ
- comes to us
- āyatun
- ءَايَةٌۗ
- a sign?"
- kadhālika
- كَذَٰلِكَ
- Like that
- qāla
- قَالَ
- said
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those
- min
- مِن
- from
- qablihim
- قَبْلِهِم
- before them
- mith'la
- مِّثْلَ
- similar
- qawlihim
- قَوْلِهِمْۘ
- their saying
- tashābahat
- تَشَٰبَهَتْ
- Became alike
- qulūbuhum
- قُلُوبُهُمْۗ
- their hearts
- qad
- قَدْ
- Indeed
- bayyannā
- بَيَّنَّا
- We have made clear
- l-āyāti
- ٱلْءَايَٰتِ
- the signs
- liqawmin
- لِقَوْمٍ
- for people
- yūqinūna
- يُوقِنُونَ
- (who) firmly believe
Those who do not know say, "Why does Allah not speak to us or there come to us a sign?" Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a people who are certain [in faith]. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 118)Tafsir
اِنَّآ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيْرًا وَّنَذِيْرًاۙ وَّلَا تُسْـَٔلُ عَنْ اَصْحٰبِ الْجَحِيْمِ ١١٩
- innā
- إِنَّآ
- Indeed We!
- arsalnāka
- أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ
- [We] have sent you
- bil-ḥaqi
- بِٱلْحَقِّ
- with the truth
- bashīran
- بَشِيرًا
- (as) a bearer of good news
- wanadhīran
- وَنَذِيرًاۖ
- and (as) a warner
- walā
- وَلَا
- And not
- tus'alu
- تُسْـَٔلُ
- you will be asked
- ʿan
- عَنْ
- about
- aṣḥābi
- أَصْحَٰبِ
- (the) companions
- l-jaḥīmi
- ٱلْجَحِيمِ
- (of) the blazing Fire
Indeed, We have sent you, [O Muhammad], with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner, and you will not be asked about the companions of Hellfire. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 119)Tafsir
وَلَنْ تَرْضٰى عَنْكَ الْيَهُوْدُ وَلَا النَّصٰرٰى حَتّٰى تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمْ ۗ قُلْ اِنَّ هُدَى اللّٰهِ هُوَ الْهُدٰى ۗ وَلَىِٕنِ اتَّبَعْتَ اَهْوَاۤءَهُمْ بَعْدَ الَّذِيْ جَاۤءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ ۙ مَا لَكَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ وَّلِيٍّ وَّلَا نَصِيْرٍ ١٢٠
- walan
- وَلَن
- And never
- tarḍā
- تَرْضَىٰ
- will be pleased
- ʿanka
- عَنكَ
- with you
- l-yahūdu
- ٱلْيَهُودُ
- the Jews
- walā
- وَلَا
- and [not]
- l-naṣārā
- ٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ
- the Christians
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- tattabiʿa
- تَتَّبِعَ
- you follow
- millatahum
- مِلَّتَهُمْۗ
- their religion
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- inna
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- hudā
- هُدَى
- (the) Guidance
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- huwa
- هُوَ
- it
- l-hudā
- ٱلْهُدَىٰۗ
- (is) the Guidance"
- wala-ini
- وَلَئِنِ
- And if
- ittabaʿta
- ٱتَّبَعْتَ
- you follow
- ahwāahum
- أَهْوَآءَهُم
- their desires
- baʿda
- بَعْدَ
- after
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- what
- jāaka
- جَآءَكَ
- has come to you
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-ʿil'mi
- ٱلْعِلْمِۙ
- the knowledge
- mā
- مَا
- not
- laka
- لَكَ
- for you
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- min
- مِن
- any
- waliyyin
- وَلِىٍّ
- protector
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- naṣīrin
- نَصِيرٍ
- any helper
And never will the Jews and the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance." If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allah no protector or helper. (QS. [2] Al-Baqarah: 120)Tafsir
