Al-Qur'an Surah Maryam Verse 92
Maryam [19]: 92 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَمَا يَنْۢبَغِيْ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ اَنْ يَّتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا ۗ (مريم : ١٩)
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- yanbaghī
- يَنۢبَغِى
- is appropriate
- lilrraḥmāni
- لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ
- for the Most Gracious
- an
- أَن
- that
- yattakhidha
- يَتَّخِذَ
- He should take
- waladan
- وَلَدًا
- a son
Transliteration:
Wa maa yambaghee lir Rahmaani ai yattakhiza waladaa(QS. Maryam:92)
English / Sahih Translation:
And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son. (QS. Maryam, ayah 92)

Tafsir jalalayn
when it is not meet for [the Majesty of] the Compassionate One to take a son, that is to say, such a thing does not befit Him.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
But it is not suitable for the Most Gracious that He should beget a son.
Meaning that it is not befitting of Him, nor is it appropriate for His lofty majesty and greatness. There is no coequal for Him in His creation, because all creatures are His slaves.
This is why He says,
إِن كُلُّ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالاَْرْضِ إِلاَّ اتِي الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدًا
