"And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest.
And He has made me blessed wherever I may be, and He has enjoined on me prayer and poor-rate so long as I live:
And dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me insolent, unblessed;
And (hath made me) dutiful toward her who bore me, and hath not made me arrogant, unblest.
He has commanded me to be good to my parents and has not made me an arrogant rebellious person.
(He has made me) kind to my mother; He has not made me arrogant, unprosperous.
"And to be dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblessed."
He has made me dutiful toward my mother, and He has not made me arrogant or wicked.
And kind to my mother, and He did not make me a disobedient rebel.
and [He has made me] dutiful towards my mother (barran, in the accusative because of the implicit [verb] ja`alan, `He has made me'). And He has not made me arrogant, haughty, wretched, disobedient to his Lord.
And to be dutiful to my mother.
This means, "He (Allah) has commanded me to treat my mother well."
He mentioned this after mentioning obedience to his Lord, Allah. This is because Allah often combines the command to worship Him with obedience to the parents.
This is similar to Allah's statement,
وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلاَّ تَعْبُدُواْ إِلاَّ إِيَّـهُ وَبِالْوَلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَـناً
And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and that you be dutiful to your parents. (17;23)
And He, the Exalted, said,
أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِى وَلِوَلِدَيْكَ إِلَىَّ الْمَصِيرُ
Give thanks to Me and to your parents. Unto Me is the final destination. (31;14)
Concerning his statement,
وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِي جَبَّارًا شَقِيًّا
and He made me not arrogant, unblessed.
This means, "He (Allah) has not made me too proud or arrogant to worship Him, obey Him and be dutiful to my mother, and thus be unblessed."
Concerning Allah's statement,
وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ وُلِدتُّ وَيَوْمَ أَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ أُبْعَثُ حَيًّا
