Al-Qur'an Surah Maryam Verse 25

Maryam [19]: 25 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَهُزِّيْٓ اِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ تُسٰقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا ۖ (مريم : ١٩)

wahuzzī
وَهُزِّىٓ
And shake
ilayki
إِلَيْكِ
towards you
bijidh'ʿi
بِجِذْعِ
(the) trunk
l-nakhlati
ٱلنَّخْلَةِ
(of) the date-palm
tusāqiṭ
تُسَٰقِطْ
it will drop
ʿalayki
عَلَيْكِ
upon you
ruṭaban
رُطَبًا
fresh dates
janiyyan
جَنِيًّا
ripe

Transliteration:

Wa huzzeee ilaiki bijiz 'in nakhlati tusaaqit 'alaiki rutaban janiyyaa (QS. Maryam:25)

English / Sahih Translation:

And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. (QS. Maryam, ayah 25)

Tafsir jalalayn

And shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards you, [a palm-tree] which had withered (the bi- [in bi-jidh`i'l- nakhlati, `the trunk of the palm-tree] is extra) -- there will drop (tusqit, originally this is tatasqat, but the second t' is changed into a sn and is assimilated with the [second] sn; a variant reading omits it [the second t'] altogether) on you dates (rutaban, a specification) fresh and ripe (janiyyan, an adjectival qualification of it [of rutaban, `dates']).

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَهُزِّي إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ

And shake the trunk of date palm towards you,

meaning, "Grab the trunk of the date-palm tree and shake it towards yourself."

Therefore, Allah blessed her by giving her food and drink.

Then He said,

تُسَاقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا
