وَاذْكُرْ فِى الْكِتٰبِ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ ەۗ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ صِدِّيْقًا نَّبِيًّا ٤١
- wa-udh'kur
- وَٱذْكُرْ
- And mention
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- the Book
- ib'rāhīma
- إِبْرَٰهِيمَۚ
- Ibrahim
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed he
- kāna
- كَانَ
- was
- ṣiddīqan
- صِدِّيقًا
- a man of truth
- nabiyyan
- نَّبِيًّا
- a Prophet
And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. (QS. [19] Maryam: 41)Tafsir
اِذْ قَالَ لِاَبِيْهِ يٰٓاَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْنِيْ عَنْكَ شَيْـًٔا ٤٢
- idh

- لِأَبِيهِ
- to his father
- yāabati
- يَٰٓأَبَتِ
- "O my father!
- lima
- لِمَ
- Why
- taʿbudu
- تَعْبُدُ
- (do) you worship

- مَا
- that which
- lā
- لَا
- not
- yasmaʿu
- يَسْمَعُ
- hears
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yub'ṣiru
- يُبْصِرُ
- sees
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- yugh'nī
- يُغْنِى
- benefits
- ʿanka
- عَنكَ
- [to] you
- shayan
- شَيْـًٔا
- (in) anything?
[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? (QS. [19] Maryam: 42)Tafsir
يٰٓاَبَتِ اِنِّي قَدْ جَاۤءَنِيْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِكَ فَاتَّبِعْنِيْٓ اَهْدِكَ صِرَاطًا سَوِيًّا ٤٣
- yāabati
- يَٰٓأَبَتِ
- O my father!
- innī
- إِنِّى
- Indeed [I]
- qad
- قَدْ
- verily
- jāanī
- جَآءَنِى
- (has) come to me
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-ʿil'mi
- ٱلْعِلْمِ
- the knowledge
- mā
- مَا
- what
- lam
- لَمْ
- not
- yatika
- يَأْتِكَ
- came to you
- fa-ittabiʿ'nī
- فَٱتَّبِعْنِىٓ
- so follow me;
- ahdika
- أَهْدِكَ
- I will guide you
- ṣirāṭan
- صِرَٰطًا
- (to) the path
- sawiyyan
- سَوِيًّا
- even
O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path. (QS. [19] Maryam: 43)Tafsir
يٰٓاَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ الشَّيْطٰنَۗ اِنَّ الشَّيْطٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ عَصِيًّا ٤٤
- yāabati
- يَٰٓأَبَتِ
- O my father!
- lā
- لَا
- (Do) not
- taʿbudi
- تَعْبُدِ
- worship
- l-shayṭāna
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَۖ
- the Shaitaan
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-shayṭāna
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ
- the Shaitaan
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- lilrraḥmāni
- لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ
- to the Most Gracious
- ʿaṣiyyan
- عَصِيًّا
- disobedient
O my father, do not worship [i.e., obey] Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient. (QS. [19] Maryam: 44)Tafsir
يٰٓاَبَتِ اِنِّيْٓ اَخَافُ اَنْ يَّمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ الرَّحْمٰنِ فَتَكُوْنَ لِلشَّيْطٰنِ وَلِيًّا ٤٥
- yāabati
- يَٰٓأَبَتِ
- O my father!
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- Indeed I
- akhāfu
- أَخَافُ
- [I] fear
- an
- أَن
- that
- yamassaka
- يَمَسَّكَ
- will touch you
- ʿadhābun
- عَذَابٌ
- a punishment
- mina
- مِّنَ
- from
- l-raḥmāni
- ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ
- the Most Gracious
- fatakūna
- فَتَكُونَ
- so you would be
- lilshayṭāni
- لِلشَّيْطَٰنِ
- to the Shaitaan
- waliyyan
- وَلِيًّا
- a friend"
O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]." (QS. [19] Maryam: 45)Tafsir
قَالَ اَرَاغِبٌ اَنْتَ عَنْ اٰلِهَتِيْ يٰٓاِبْرٰهِيْمُ ۚ لَىِٕنْ لَّمْ تَنْتَهِ لَاَرْجُمَنَّكَ وَاهْجُرْنِيْ مَلِيًّا ٤٦
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- arāghibun
- أَرَاغِبٌ
- "Do you hate
- anta
- أَنتَ
- "Do you hate
- ʿan
- عَنْ
- (from)
- ālihatī
- ءَالِهَتِى
- my gods
- yāib'rāhīmu
- يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُۖ
- O Ibrahim?
- la-in
- لَئِن
- Surely, if
- lam
- لَّمْ
- not
- tantahi
- تَنتَهِ
- you desist
- la-arjumannaka
- لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَۖ
- surely, I will stone you
- wa-uh'jur'nī
- وَٱهْجُرْنِى
- so leave me
- maliyyan
- مَلِيًّا
- (for) a prolonged time"
[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time." (QS. [19] Maryam: 46)Tafsir
قَالَ سَلٰمٌ عَلَيْكَۚ سَاَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّيْۗ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ بِيْ حَفِيًّا ٤٧
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- salāmun
- سَلَٰمٌ
- "Peace (be)
- ʿalayka
- عَلَيْكَۖ
- on you
- sa-astaghfiru
- سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ
- I will ask forgiveness
- laka
- لَكَ
- for you
- rabbī
- رَبِّىٓۖ
- (from) my Lord
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed He
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- bī
- بِى
- to me
- ḥafiyyan
- حَفِيًّا
- Ever Gracious
[Abraham] said, "Peace [i.e., safety] will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me. (QS. [19] Maryam: 47)Tafsir
وَاَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَاَدْعُوْ رَبِّيْۖ عَسٰٓى اَلَّآ اَكُوْنَ بِدُعَاۤءِ رَبِّيْ شَقِيًّا ٤٨
- wa-aʿtazilukum
- وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ
- And I will leave you
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and what
- tadʿūna
- تَدْعُونَ
- you invoke
- min
- مِن
- besides
- dūni
- دُونِ
- besides
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- wa-adʿū
- وَأَدْعُوا۟
- and I will invoke
- rabbī
- رَبِّى
- my Lord
- ʿasā
- عَسَىٰٓ
- May be
- allā
- أَلَّآ
- that not
- akūna
- أَكُونَ
- I will be
- biduʿāi
- بِدُعَآءِ
- in invocation
- rabbī
- رَبِّى
- (to) my Lord
- shaqiyyan
- شَقِيًّا
- unblessed"
And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy [i.e., disappointed]." (QS. [19] Maryam: 48)Tafsir
فَلَمَّا اعْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ ۙوَهَبْنَا لَهٗٓ اِسْحٰقَ وَيَعْقُوْبَۗ وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا نَبِيًّا ٤٩
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- So when
- iʿ'tazalahum
- ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ
- he left them
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and what
- yaʿbudūna
- يَعْبُدُونَ
- they worshipped
- min
- مِن
- besides Allah
- dūni
- دُونِ
- besides Allah
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- besides Allah
- wahabnā
- وَهَبْنَا
- [and] We bestowed
- lahu
- لَهُۥٓ
- [to] him
- is'ḥāqa
- إِسْحَٰقَ
- Ishaq
- wayaʿqūba
- وَيَعْقُوبَۖ
- and Yaqub
- wakullan
- وَكُلًّا
- and each (of them)
- jaʿalnā
- جَعَلْنَا
- We made
- nabiyyan
- نَبِيًّا
- a Prophet
So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. (QS. [19] Maryam: 49)Tafsir
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ رَّحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِيًّا ࣖ ٥٠
- wawahabnā
- وَوَهَبْنَا
- And We bestowed
- lahum
- لَهُم
- to them
- min
- مِّن
- of
- raḥmatinā
- رَّحْمَتِنَا
- Our Mercy
- wajaʿalnā
- وَجَعَلْنَا
- and We made
- lahum
- لَهُمْ
- for them
- lisāna
- لِسَانَ
- a truthful mention
- ṣid'qin
- صِدْقٍ
- a truthful mention
- ʿaliyyan
- عَلِيًّا
- high
And We gave them of Our mercy, and We made for them a mention [i.e., reputation] of high honor. (QS. [19] Maryam: 50)Tafsir
