- Kaaf Ha Ya Ain Sad
Kaf, Ha, Ya, Ain, Sad. (QS. [19] Maryam: 1)Tafsir
ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهٗ زَكَرِيَّا ۚ ٢
- dhik'ru
- ذِكْرُ
- (A) mention
- raḥmati
- رَحْمَتِ
- (of the) Mercy
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- (of) your Lord
- ʿabdahu
- عَبْدَهُۥ
- (to) His servant
- zakariyyā
- زَكَرِيَّآ
- Zakariya
[This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah (QS. [19] Maryam: 2)Tafsir
اِذْ نَادٰى رَبَّهٗ نِدَاۤءً خَفِيًّا ٣
- idh
- إِذْ
- When
- nādā
- نَادَىٰ
- he called
- rabbahu
- رَبَّهُۥ
- (to) his Lord
- nidāan
- نِدَآءً
- a call -
- khafiyyan
- خَفِيًّا
- secret
When he called to his Lord a private call [i.e., supplication]. (QS. [19] Maryam: 3)Tafsir
قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّيْ وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنِّيْ وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَّلَمْ اَكُنْۢ بِدُعَاۤىِٕكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا ٤

- قَالَ
- He said
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- "My Lord!
- innī
- إِنِّى
- Indeed, [I]
- wahana
- وَهَنَ
- (have) weakened
- l-ʿaẓmu
- ٱلْعَظْمُ
- my bones
- minnī
- مِنِّى
- my bones
- wa-ish'taʿala
- وَٱشْتَعَلَ
- and flared
- l-rasu
- ٱلرَّأْسُ
- (my) head
- shayban
- شَيْبًا
- (with) white
- walam
- وَلَمْ
- and not
- akun
- أَكُنۢ
- I have been
- biduʿāika
- بِدُعَآئِكَ
- in (my) supplication (to) You
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- my Lord
- shaqiyyan
- شَقِيًّا
- unblessed
He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy [i.e., disappointed]. (QS. [19] Maryam: 4)Tafsir
وَاِنِّيْ خِفْتُ الْمَوَالِيَ مِنْ وَّرَاۤءِيْ وَكَانَتِ امْرَاَتِيْ عَاقِرًا فَهَبْ لِيْ مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ وَلِيًّا ۙ ٥
- wa-innī
- وَإِنِّى
- And indeed, I
- khif'tu
- خِفْتُ
- [I] fear
- l-mawāliya
- ٱلْمَوَٰلِىَ
- the successors
- min
- مِن
- after me
- warāī
- وَرَآءِى
- after me
- wakānati
- وَكَانَتِ
- and is
- im'ra-atī
- ٱمْرَأَتِى
- my wife
- ʿāqiran
- عَاقِرًا
- barren
- fahab
- فَهَبْ
- So give
- lī
- لِى
- [to] me
- min
- مِن
- from
- ladunka
- لَّدُنكَ
- Yourself
- waliyyan
- وَلِيًّا
- an heir
And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir (QS. [19] Maryam: 5)Tafsir
يَّرِثُنِيْ وَيَرِثُ مِنْ اٰلِ يَعْقُوْبَ وَاجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا ٦
- yarithunī
- يَرِثُنِى
- Who will inherit me
- wayarithu
- وَيَرِثُ
- and inherit
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- āli
- ءَالِ
- (the) family
- yaʿqūba
- يَعْقُوبَۖ
- (of) Yaqub
- wa-ij'ʿalhu
- وَٱجْعَلْهُ
- And make him
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- my Lord
- raḍiyyan
- رَضِيًّا
- pleasing"
Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]." (QS. [19] Maryam: 6)Tafsir
يٰزَكَرِيَّآ اِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلٰمِ ِۨاسْمُهٗ يَحْيٰىۙ لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَّهٗ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا ٧
- yāzakariyyā
- يَٰزَكَرِيَّآ
- "O Zakariya!
- innā
- إِنَّا
- Indeed, We
- nubashiruka
- نُبَشِّرُكَ
- [We] give you glad tidings
- bighulāmin
- بِغُلَٰمٍ
- of a boy
- us'muhu
- ٱسْمُهُۥ
- his name
- yaḥyā
- يَحْيَىٰ
- (will be) Yahya
- lam
- لَمْ
- not
- najʿal
- نَجْعَل
- We (have) assigned
- lahu
- لَّهُۥ
- [for] it
- min
- مِن
- before
- qablu
- قَبْلُ
- before
- samiyyan
- سَمِيًّا
- (this) name"
[He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name." (QS. [19] Maryam: 7)Tafsir
قَالَ رَبِّ اَنّٰى يَكُوْنُ لِيْ غُلٰمٌ وَّكَانَتِ امْرَاَتِيْ عَاقِرًا وَّقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا ٨

- قَالَ
- He said
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- "My Lord!
- annā
- أَنَّىٰ
- How
- yakūnu
- يَكُونُ
- can
- lī
- لِى
- I have
- ghulāmun
- غُلَٰمٌ
- a boy
- wakānati
- وَكَانَتِ
- while is
- im'ra-atī
- ٱمْرَأَتِى
- my wife
- ʿāqiran
- عَاقِرًا
- barren
- waqad
- وَقَدْ
- and indeed
- balaghtu
- بَلَغْتُ
- I have reached
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-kibari
- ٱلْكِبَرِ
- the old age
- ʿitiyyan
- عِتِيًّا
- extreme?"
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?" (QS. [19] Maryam: 8)Tafsir
قَالَ كَذٰلِكَۗ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ وَّقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْـًٔا ٩

- He said

- كَذَٰلِكَ
- "Thus
- qāla
- قَالَ
- said
- rabbuka
- رَبُّكَ
- your Lord
- huwa
- هُوَ
- It
- ʿalayya
- عَلَىَّ
- (is) easy for Me
- hayyinun
- هَيِّنٌ
- (is) easy for Me
- waqad
- وَقَدْ
- and certainly
- khalaqtuka
- خَلَقْتُكَ
- I (have) created you
- min
- مِن
- before
- qablu
- قَبْلُ
- before
- walam
- وَلَمْ
- while not
- taku
- تَكُ
- you were
- shayan
- شَيْـًٔا
- anything.'
[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.'" (QS. [19] Maryam: 9)Tafsir
قَالَ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ لِّيْٓ اٰيَةً ۗقَالَ اٰيَتُكَ اَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا ١٠

- He said

- رَبِّ
- "My Lord!
- ij'ʿal
- ٱجْعَل
- Make
- lī
- لِّىٓ
- for me
- āyatan
- ءَايَةًۚ
- a sign"
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- āyatuka
- ءَايَتُكَ
- "Your sign
- allā
- أَلَّا
- (is) that not
- tukallima
- تُكَلِّمَ
- you will speak
- l-nāsa
- ٱلنَّاسَ
- (to) the people
- thalātha
- ثَلَٰثَ
- (for) three
- layālin
- لَيَالٍ
- nights
- sawiyyan
- سَوِيًّا
- sound"
[Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound." (QS. [19] Maryam: 10)Tafsir
